TBH I'm sick of finding reviewers compare these to other 600 series open back, but with saying that, most reviews like yours that do also have a closed comparison say they prefer the 620s so that is what sold me. For someone like me that bought them, coming up from very old first gen HD 280 Pro I'm sure 620s will be night and day in comparison for me once they arrive.
@@Lost1ntheSauc3 Yes I love them because when I compare them to my KRK studio Monitor speakers they really have that studio level dynamic range and channel separation that is needed during production.
@@markszili2577 Good good👍🏻 I've noticed that too, that have a very speaker like presentation, and accel at spatial audio. I like them about as much as my TH900s tbh.
Very nice can’t wait for the Aqua La Voce review. I hear good things about that unit. Used they go for 2.5k and I’ve heard the S3 is on the level of Holo May obviously a different topology.
Thank you for this amazing review. I've been following your videos since I realized you are spot on with your insights matching my own listening experience, and I have a similar preferences. Regarding this pair, I purchased it shortly before your review, and again I agree with everything you've said here about their performance. Coming from the oval Hifiman cans, they're very good for the price, they sound just right. Spacious (for closed backs), natural, but not boring. I EQed down their mids a bit and reduced the bass energy at 100Hz though, so they are even more neutral, in a good way. The Headphone Show measured them and I'd agree with their graph more than the official one from Sennheiser, interestingly. Overall, a good performer for a non-audiophile pricing. I tried around 15 different closed backs so far and I think these offer one of (if not the best) price to performance ratio out of them. Oh, and I haven't noticed any issues with cabling and seal, but I don't wear glasses. Any plans to review the Aune S17 Pro? :)
Wonderful review, Professor, but I already have a couple of decent closed-back headphones in my collection (which are almost never used). Reverend Dr. Thomas, The Vegan Vicar.
You won't be disappointed by both of them. The Pro line 490 is open, as you stated already, with the benefits this gives you soundwise. You get better detail retrieval on the 490s as well, and they are more balanced. It's not a fair comparison, though, as the HD 620S are closed and less expensive. Plus, the HD 490s are in Sennheiser's Pro line for a good reason. Which also means they are still sold by the original German Sennheiser company, whereas all consumer models (6 series, 8 series etc.) are now sold by Sononova under Sennheiser license.
@@dmitrynikonov8447 huh. How did you get here? Supposed to be unlisted awhile longer. I busted my butt to get this and a couple others done before traveling. Please don't share yet. Will go public on 16 July.
How's the isolation? I'll give it a try if I get my hands on it and compare it to my DT 700 Pro X, but I'm pretty satisified with it so I doubt it'll get replaced.
They definitely have a better isolation than the Beyerdynamic DT 700 Pro X or the DT 1770 Pro. They also beat the Focal Celestee isolationwise. Other than alsome reviewers say I don't find it getting hot and it's pretty comfy on longer listening sessions.
Oh, my desire to play videogames these days has gone to basically 0. I cut my teeth in the 90s on OG Wolf 3D, classic Doom, Quake, DN3D, Unreal & Unreal Tournament, and Half-Life. The mid-2000s with UT2K4, Doom 3, HL2, Far Cry, & F.E.A.R. was also a great stretch for games. So mostly old-school shooters lol. But as I said, I haven't done much gaming at all in the last 6-7 years.
Thank you for this video -- we appreciate you sharing your feedback with us and the RUclips world. 🙏

I don't have the May to compare. But initial thoughts on the La Voce are positive.

What a cool young lad - and brave, talking to over 1000 people like that.

Reverend Dr. Thomas,

what model closed back do you have?
Excellent review, even though it’s not a closed back, I’m saving my coin for the Sennheiser HD490 Pro.

Drop DCA Aeon closed-back?
Video published 11 days ago and I’m the first viewer??? Weird!!! Excellent review as always!

Chassis is pronounced Chas-ee. Sorry. Thanks for all the good information.
I recommend another frame for your glasses. You are constantly correcting your glasses on your head. The problem is the frame. Not the headphone.

Yes, I too would like to know how well these headphones keep out external sounds .
Excellent review as usual, Wave Theory. Thank you.
It's decent. I tried around 15 closed backs so far and the HD620s is one of the better ones in that regard, definitely top 5.

Hi WaveTheory, what are some of your favorite videogames?

👌👍
I always wanted a closed 560s so I got the 620s for $300, I haven't gotten them yet but I think it was a good buy.
the new design of the hd 490 probably solved all the issues of this headphone.. even though it was released before it 😐
Well it obviously didn't or else they would've used that chassis. You haven't even tried them, just complaining for the sake of complaining.
Why do you dress it? They gave you cash or what? 620s so ds boxy asf: search 620s demo on youtube vs 600
