I've watched quite a bit of this video so far and it's been very good. I will be disappointed though, if the only listening that was done was through headphones. It's my understanding that it's not possible to discern everything that a DAC like this can provide through headphones. Maybe I missed something that said that this review was only going to be using headphones and not speakers?

Ok. So I think the Para falls into the same quandary as the the FiiO FT5. Very misleading specs. I own the FT5 and it is perceived on paper that it is easy to drive, but not easy to drive well if that makes sense. I can see the Para being like the FIIO FT5 whereby it demands equipment 6X its price tag. 😮 Anyhow. Very interesting review. Appreciate it. 🤝 I agree. Definitely a fish out of water.

Can it drive Tungsten DS?

The tubes may sound the best in the author's component, but that conclusion does not really tell us, in absolute terms, how accurate any of the tubes are. For that to occur, one must perform specialized listening tests to determine if the component, with said tube under test, actually alters the input signal. Does the output sound exactly the same as the input, or does the component/tube alter the musical quality. That is the real test. Also, there is no real "magic" as physics dictates sound quality. The distortion characteristics of triodes are different than a solid state part, The materials used are quite different The capacitance characteristics are quite different The tubes of different manufacturers have different distortion characteristics as well. The look decent though... edit: I GOT THEM!!!!! The bass in mine is not overpowering at all, and it sounds, well..normal!!! got it for 109.00. But yeah the only thing I dislike is the ear pad's (hard to swap, and EXPENSIVE), The isolation is on the bad side, with music playing it cuts out masic talking but yeah thats it, I have a review gonna come up too.

17:03 NOOO not good company... Qtest is 1500Euro and if you don't rush you can find it for even 1000 Euros brand new. That is 3200Euro 2-3 times the price. That is called garbage, not good company. If I would say Qtest was on the level with iFi Neo iDSD, that would not be a good company no matter how much people love the Neo iDSD. That one is good for 500 Euro not 1000-1500Euro.

Out of curiosity, did you try it with the Pietus Maximus? I’m slightly tempted to get one of these and drive it with the Rekkr I have sitting around. Unfortunately it sounds like there’s not much to distinguish it in terms of sound or comfort at its price point, unless using a speaker amplifier wakes it up and it delivers something special.

8 ohms and 80db? Sounds like a loudspeaker to me; just break out that old vintage hifi receiver!

I really want the Tungsten, but they're too hard to get. Extremely small windows to order and then wait months and months? I can't do it. So I'd settle for HE1000SE if the treble doesn't kill me. Does HE1000SE have more treble than Arya Stealth? Because I have Arya Stealth, and it's just barely over the treble edge for me. I wouldn't want more.

tried that with the very easy to drive focal celestee, bass was undynamic, untextured, and weak. The rest of the frequency was "ok". mooved to aune x1GT (280 euros desktop dac/amp unit) and all that was lacking in bass was there, plus a bigger soundstage. all that for half the price

Have you listened to ns10s, i think manny have mixed 90% on those trough his career, they are also very mid forward, maybe that's something he liked when designing them with audeze?

What type of power supply is in the units used? Is it switching or linear PS? Being a music lover, you must understand the significance of the linear PS. How about software? Any apps by the HIFIMan which have a decent UI, so I could tickle settings and switch between sound sources?

I tried the EF500 yesterday with my 6XX and was more than impressed. I don't have any experience with $1000+ amplifiers but this the best I have heard them sound outside of OTL amps. The effect was similar, bass and treble both more prominent but without any hint of exaggeration. The bass in particular had much more impact and I now feel I don't need to swap headphones just to listen to EDM.

Ordered this hoping it's a decent example of what tubes do. I've only tried a Little Dot II and something similar and mostly hated what they did for the sound.

Great value propositions, but yeah one job per box for me. Optical would be better, HDMI Arc would be handy.

Hi great interesting video, yes it is overpriced as you know the s dis get that nice hard storage box, how ever in the Uk major outlets it’s not w going for £355-359 and even the hd650 is now only £229. I have the 6xx with the custom cans bass mod, 660s2 has similar bass reponse or my opinion my moded 6xx is a bit better . Regards mark

I don’t think anyone has ever demonstrably heard a difference between two audio cables. Everyone sats they can do so, though. Well, everyone has also seen a UFO, Bigfoot and a couple of ghost, albeit never on record. It is the same thing. Supernatural phenomena tend to disappear when put under a controlled test. The famous magician James Randi built an entire career on demonstrating just that fact. Most who tried to prove him wrong were not fraudsters, although some were. They just failed to appreciate placebo and self suggestion. We would need a lot of that kind of education in the audio world. Too much money is being made off gullible “audiophiles” on random BS like better headphone cables.

Thanks for the complete review. It made my decision to buy the Ananda Stealth easy when it dropped to $400. Your description of it is pretty much the same as what I have experienced.

Do yourself a favor and roll the 2 rear opamps near the inputs with a pair of burson v6 vivid. The v222 steps up to God tier level.
