Will be waiting for the comparison of Tungsten DS vs HEDD2. Though i kinda disagree with HEDD2 not being source picky. It's not source picky in a tonality matching sense ala Utopia, but it does needs "low distortion and clean power" to make its technicality shines. This is where HEKse is preferrable in comparison, it has good detail in pretty much anything i plug it into.
I was waiting for this 😛 Listened to the Heddphone 2 on the High End in Munich and spoke with the CEO who was very nice and explained the AMT driver to me with much passion. I was very excited after that and now I am looking forward to listening to it again regarding a final purchase decision 🔥🐹🔥
+1 for the upcoming 2k h/p comparison, will be great if yo'u'll do a similar comparison of 1k~800 range, including Arya Stealth (after price drop), SJY Horizon, Moondrop Cosmo, especially the Horizon which is getting quite a fan following.
Would you be able to compare the E3 as well in that upcoming comparison review, at least from memory? I know it's closed back but it can probably stand on its own in a lot of aspects.
I also would like to see a comparision between these. The meze can be bought for 1800€ on ebay now. The hedd is around 1600€. I personally compare them to my lcdx and lcd4z. I think they sit right between them...
Empy 2 is still a $700-1100 in technical performance so unlikely to be part of the comparison. Atrium is beatifully tuned, but also not a very technical listen.
Very good and detailed review. I bought my hedd2 for a steal after my audeze driver exploded because I adjusted them on my head... For me my repair or a hedd cost the same amount. So I went with the 5year wartanty product and the robust driver designe of the hedd over my lcd4z... Maybe its the diminishing teturns or me beeing butthurt over the driver but the hedd2 is sounding very, very, very good. Not quiet like a totl but it got more difficult to justify those 4k upwards prices! Ps. Could you please consider including the meze into the comparision? If you get a good deal they allready go below 2k.
The comp video is imminent...just a few days out. But even in the Empy II review I mentioned that it's tough for me to swallow at $3k. I can't in good conscience recommend it over any of the Hedd2/HE1000se/Tungsten DS trio.
Will you be reviewing austrian audio composer any time soon? I have heard very different opinions about them and wonder how you would describe them. They are just above 2000$ so possibly another one for comparison.
Some didn't mention the improved dynamics which ruined the V1 for me. I hated the airy, breezy bass and general lack of physicality. Gotta try them I guess.
I try not to watch/read other reviews until after I've had my shot with any given piece. If what you say is true, that's very puzzling. The improvement in dynamics just jumped out to me immediately.
Nice video- I have heard these pretty extensively out of a Zahl HM1 amp and a RME ADI-2/4 Pro Se, compared directly to my LCD-5 and a Arya Organic. First the good- These are made very nice and built well. They were super comfortable for me. Now the bad- The bass without EQ is not good at all, and if you fix it with a bass shelf the bass sounds poofy and soft. Overall this sounds a lot like an estat and for me, it sounds too much like an estat, as I am not into the estat sound, as it lacks note weight and the decay is not natural sounding to MY EARS. I think if you are a person who enjoys an estat like sound signature, these may be for you.
I hadn't really thought about it and that's because to me the MM-500 is a very specific tool for a very specific job. Manny Marroquin wanted the 3KHz range on that one to be boosted way up so he could listen to his mixes analytically. The result, IMO, is a headphone that is very good at filling the need of a very specific use case, but I don't recommend it for at-home listening for the vast majority of listeners.

Just a side note, the HEDDphone ONE also uses folds of different sizes, or Variable Velocity Transformation (VVT) technology as HEDD calls it.
Brian. I’m so happy to hear that this Headphone has some good positives that sit with you well. Nice to hear. I’d love to try it. 😎
Great video! Your reviews are so honest. Thank you!
Man! I almost listened to the headphone through your review! Thank you.
waiting for affordable headphones reviews in the future

So psyched to hear this one
Seems like the have at least a double or triple on their hands relative to the v1. Can’t wait to see what they can do with the v3.
Great review. Been really interested in this one!

Looking forward to your comparisons with the HE1000SE and the Tungsten DS and through the Violectric V281 and other amps as well. Thx
I would love to know, how does it compare to Meze Empyrean 2 and ZMF atrium(soundwise)?

The studio monitor style headphones are kind of boring for "me"
If an opportunity arises, definitely. Any leads on one for me?
@@chronometawhy? I bet you never heard real studio monitors in your life
Love your kids intro 😅
Cheers 🍻

I’m curious how this would sound next to stuff like electrostatics and fast dynamic drivers. Like maybe versus a Stax 007, or an OG Utopia.
Heard it once, started saving... Nuf said

Can you add Audeze MM500 into the mix, also?
I doesn't really compare imo. It's like a more neutrally tuned LCD-X, but from a technical perspective well below the $2000 range.

Careful, you'll lose your status as a Hifiman shill if you keep this up. 😂
