Can a GR Yaris keep up with a Porsche 991.2 GT3 Touring on the Nürburgring?

  • Very good day to be on track, weather was beautiful albeit quite cold (around 4C at the time of filming). Fourth lap with the GR Yaris on track, and my 16th overall lap of the Nürburgring. I was feeling more confident with the Yaris and decided to push more! Unfortunately traffic was already picking up, with quite a few more cars on track, as well as some accidents. Though it was still super enjoyable to follow on the tail of this amazing machine that the 991.2 GT3 is! For sure a dream car! The owner was also super chill at the end, kudos to him! Enjoy!

    The yaris really is a little beast. First time I drove one I loved how much fun it was. I think as good as they are i doubt it would even keeping up with that porsche if both cars had similarly skilled drivers. Modern porsches are very quick.

      Dude, the Porsche drover was obviously not as skilled as the dude in the yaris. Also, that porsche driver didn't push the car as much as he could (except for in the beginning), he matched it to the full push of the yaris (he went faster at some points and slowed down on some points of the track)

      When there were no other cars around the porsche disappeared off into the distance. As soon as he caught up to traffic he backed right off until he could safely pass and the yaris was able to catch up and get through the traffic easily because of the porsche. Then the porsche was gone again. Yaris driver was driving hard, porsche driver was driving sporty

    • @smoke05s
      @smoke05s 2 года назад +10

      @@mad082sss Check again, after the GT3 made the douc bag move around the safety car right before the carousel in order to pull a gap, the Yaris chased him down on the most technical part of the circuit. That Yaris sounded like it had a V6, definitely was not stock. And having a pro level driver behind the wheel didn't hurt either. Not many videos up with the driver on the limits of traction while cornering and braking, taking perfect lines and having a casual conversation.

Best case that illustrates this was a guy here "//" was his username with a gt4, FAST AF, pushing all kinds of more powerful cars, switched to a gt3 rs almost crashed and was all over the place getting passed by all kinds of less powerful cars for a couple of dozen laps.

    Great video. The "toy" is moving forward despite not great aerodynamics, a rally chassis, a manual gearbox..
    You obviously lack 100 HP to push the Porsche (small repro with large intercooler?) .. I think its passengers have recognized your merits.
    I noticed your brakes were squealing, so I think you have upgraded gear.
    Your suspension, however, does not seem to be guided enough, the car seems to seek its way, without you touching the steering wheel. I know it has a short wheelbase but there is clearly a point to settle here.
    Can I, however, make a small remark?
    Having done a few hours of fast driving in my youth, I think you would benefit from smoothing out your driving on the circuit; your practice being closer to that in rally (although the Nur is not quite as soft as a real circuit I agree).
    You will also go out less with this feeling of having played sports. To do this, invest in a harness and remember to recline the back of your seat as much as possible. I found it confusing at first but you quickly can't do without it over time.
    Good luck and thanks again for sharing.
