  • In this short video, I'll explain how money market funds work and how they can help you make passive income in Kenya.
    If you're looking for a way to make money in Kenya without having to invest in risky assets, money market funds are a great option! Funds like these allow you to invest in low-risk securities that offer consistent income. Watch this short video to learn more about money market funds and how they can help you achieve your financial goals!
    My first interaction with money market funds was in my last year of Uni and ever since I have been a firm believer in this investment. It's quite low risk as compared to other available investment instruments and that's why I love it for the investor who has a low-risk appetite. Enjoy the video and drop me some comments or feedback down below. You can also reach me via email at budgetlivingkenya@gmail.com. I'll be glad to help in any way that I can.

    One thing, if you were to save for like 10-20 years, would you account for inflation. That is something I have been worrying about. A piece of land costing 1M today may cost 5M in 10 to 20 years. so I've been thinking about investing the little savings. So by 20 years, I may have 1M but not in liquid money

    • @MissEvaWambui
      @MissEvaWambui  Год назад

      Yes inflation will definitely be there and that is why it is ideal to increase your monthly savings as your purchasing power increases over the years. But most importantly is taking advantage of compound interest which is really the 8th wonder of the world 😇. Yes, diversifying your investments in different assets is key in increasing your net worth. Land is a sure bet when it comes to value addition.

      Hey Peter. I can't pinpoint any that's best but you need to do your due diligence. You need to track past performance in terms of rates, their reputation in the market, your goals as an investor as well. You can look at the daily newspaper and look at the money market funds listed, research on each of them and make a decision on the one that suits your needs. Remember to look into management fees, withdrawal policies etc.

    • @MissEvaWambui
      @MissEvaWambui  Год назад

      Yes, you still can. Check if your bank has a money market fund. If not, do some research on some viable money market accounts in the country. Check out for historical performance, rate of return, sustainaibility of the fund among others.

    which is the best money market fund

    • @MissEvaWambui
      @MissEvaWambui  Год назад +2

      Hi there. Choosing a money market fund is a personal decision that results from research. If you are in Kenya, I suggest that you google search money market funds in Kenya. From the list you will find, do you due diligence and read on all of them and go further and make calls to those that interest you. Be keen on the rate of return, history performance over the last couple of years, look out for other fees charged to etc. This will help you decide on the fund to settle on. However, I can recommend an agent to consult on this matter and other related matters like insurance and retirement schemes. She doesn’t charge for consultation and you can ask as many questions as you’d like.

      That’s why a money market is a parking place for you. You debit money short term that you intend to use for another venture. By itself it’s not a sustainable source of income but you can put money in there for 3 months or so as you figure out what you desire to invest in. However, if you look at it long term, say depositing 5000 monthly for 20 or more years, it sort of becomes a savings avenue for you. But also not forgetting the importance of having a retirement fund along other investment instruments you want to consider

    • @MissEvaWambui
      @MissEvaWambui  Год назад +1

      Yes, you can. However, if i were you i would want to know the end goal for that investment. If you want a parking place for your money before you use it, then MMF is great. Long term, you may want to consider other investments opportunities that may have better interest. However, more interest means more risk and it all depends with your risk appetite. The great thing about MMF is that you can withdraw your money if you find better use for it ie. investment, business etc. Also, what better way to park your money and get interest from it. That's passive income for sure.
