I like this, i withdrew my saved money from the bank so that i could invest it, dad was very happy when i told him of what i had learnt from you. 4 years from now i will be 15 years of age my money will have worked for me having invested in money markets against the bank that blinds many.
MMFS give you return of interest and easy Access to your return and capital while a Sacco give returns of dividend and interest rebate with limited access to your capital with real diversity why not try the sacco and mmf at the same time
@@ruthmkaluma6638To be fair let's look at the two as Investment vehicles 1. Sacco's give real diversity and asset classes in capital and deposits while MMFS spread for risk management 2. Return on share capital is higher in Sacco's compared to MMFS return as well as interest rebate for most MMFS 3. MMFS give automatic compounding not in Sacco's Etc Why not try both and enjoy the benefits of portfolio spreads
This information is profound👌. Thanks Richie for bringing him on the show. I’ve learnt so much…. I will be back here in a few years and share just how much this information has helped me🤗
Wow this is very profound as a financial advisor I often get this question: 'what will be the benefit of will be putting my money here and not in the other place'.
Saccos are for for Savings and credit. If you're not borrowing from the Sacco and of course using the funds productively then your Sacco savings is loosing you money. Even worse if you're not reinvesting the dividends you receive from your shares and the interest you receive from your savings.
Is there a space where we can find the ratings of nabo Capital versus others like kuza, cooptrust, britam etc... like how they fare in comparison to each other or how they complement each other... say like differences in administrative fees, rates etc 👆🏾🤝🏽
All operational funds publish their daily returns in the newspapers - check the business pages, specifically the one that has stock prices and foreign currency exchange rates. For the fees, lock-in period and other administrative issues, you'll have to seek the details from each fund and do your own comparison.
What is the security of my MMF coz it's sounds good but when one puts his money also he needs security Incase things so south how will I get back my money...is there any written documents or ni story tu na kuwa na ndoto at the end ubaki na ndoto zako.
The custodian bank is one of the check boxes you tick when choosing an MMF. When the custodian bank can't pay your fund Manager, your MMF won't have funds to pay you.
The problem in Kenya is everyone looks like a thief and surely they don't disappoint. I have invested in many such things and burnt my fingers. Lost money.
What happens when an investment company invests the MMF in private bonds like the Nakumatt bond? Do the investors at least get a refund on the principal?
@@moseskinuthia23 that isn't true - I lost money in Amana due to the mess with the Nakumatt corporate bond. I also lost some money in GenCap Hela fund due to another corporate bond that had issues (not to mention they had our money in Chase Bank, so when it went down we couldn't withdraw money from the fund for a long time until the deposit protection fund started paying us back in small bits over time). Years down the line I have not recovered either of the amounts in question, and neither Amana nor Genghis Capital can give clear information of when they will compensate customers. All that is to say - even with regulation in place, there is an element of risk in all investments. OP's question is a good one, and every investor should ask and be informed clearly what asset classes a fund is invested in, and the split / share of the fund in each asset.
@@moseskinuthia23 Regulation and loss of capital are two very different things. For example purposes, if a MMF invests 25% in 4 different assets, and all of them collapse, you just lost 100% of your capital. It doesn't mean they were not regulated.
@@moseskinuthia23regulation does not mean the intuition can't go under. Imperial and chase bank Were regulated but they went into receivership. Insurance companies regulated by IRA have been gone into receivership. Do are SACCOS regulated by IRA. Regulation is just but one of the check boxes you need to tick.

This is timely. I am contemplating between investing in a MMF and a Sacco and I think I will start with the MMF.
