Finally a video where someone opened the face of a draw biased driver. Exactly what I would do if someone gave me a 10.5 degree Ping SFT driver. I might also aim right if I still tended to hit a draw to the left. I saw a video where a vlogger did exactly that on a course vlog. The SFT was not suited for him but he played extremely well with it and said it was because he had confidence that if he aimed down the right side he would not lose the shot to the right.

I’m a 13 handicap and notorious slicer with the driver. I bought the 425 SFT and it works. I actually started turning the ball left. My slices became fades. I’m not cured but I’m healing.
Thanks for reviewing the SFT version of the G425, this is the 1st time that I have seen it reviewed.👍 You have to love that PING produce Clubs that most Golfers actually need👍
Thanks for reviewing this Mike, not many of the RUclips guys will touch this club because it doesn't suit them, fair play👍..this definitely the club for me
Agreed with Bandit Baker, thanks for testing the SFT. Seems like other YT reviewers go straight to the low-spin options, since they tend to have higher swing speeds.
Perfect for dogleg left though. Carry two drivers. Be interesting hear what it did when you flattened the lie angle too. If you got a bomber right to left regular shot could aim down right and let it draw back. The driver is all about having one shape and sticking to that.
Thanks Michael I currently game the g410 SFT, still have a baby fade but a lot straighter than when I tried the g410 plus, how much better is the g425 over the g410.
Morning Michael great review as always. Please could you do a comparison video of Ping g425 sft, Sim2 D and cobra radspeed draw driver. I'm looking at new drivers and wanted to know which one might be best. Keep up the great work Joe
I have the same miss... deep and left. I stay far away from high lofted draw biased drivers... 8.5 and below with a neutral or even open face. This is why I love the sub zero still lofted down to 8 degrees.
As a slicer I can tell you this was the only thing I've ever hit that works. Tried the Rogue Max D for a few weeks and it did nothing but fade hard. Have hit draws for a week now and I've never hit one in my life before this.🤣
“Really good golfers don’t want the ball to go left. I’m a really good golfer so I don’t want the ball to go left. This driver is going to go left. So I’m gonna hit about 15 of them into the left rough in a row to show you.” I wish they would review these draw bias clubs and aim up the right hand side and see how often they can hit them in the middle of the fairway. Just like someone who likes to hit a draw does.
Yeh! These shots were starting left and going left, because he was swinging left 🤦🏻♂️if swung at zero or slightly to the right it would be better test
@@MichaelNewtonGolf so why didn't you aim right to see if a good golfer could hit shots down the middle ...I am a 16 handicap and my normal shot is a fad /slice ..but I aim this club down the right side of the fairway ,knowing the ball will go left!
I’ve been testing the g425 max, and it looks like it sits closed to me. In the video, the max also looked closed. Wondering if you agree, and if it in fact plays closed/is draw biased.
Mike, you say the heel weight makes the club's toe lighter, which causes the player to close the club face more before impact, thus making the ball go left. I thought the heel weight caused a gear effect spin on the ball, which is why the ball goes left. Please can you confirm.
I am not certain but I believe you can order different gram weights for both the MAX and SFT. Perhaps a few grams lighter or even remove the weight all together just for kicks and giggles since its a hook machine for you :)
Mike- would getting a 9 or 9.5 driver and increasing the loft also close the face? Seems the heel weight moves the CG as well so just wondering to keep a neutral MOI (low and back) and increasing the loft would do the same thing for reducing fade/slice?
No... this was my initial thought, bought the Max and turned it up... Ended buying the SFT and it works so much better, basically have a straight ball flight with it... The sound off the driver is horrific, i'd defo go for a 430 if i was buying one, even for the sound alone.
When lockdown ends, i'll be going for a fitting to test the max against the sft, not sure i need that much help to stop it 'power fading' to the right with the sft, but looking forward to trying both!
I fully agree the only way is to take both on the launce monitor or range and try them both. With SFT also being more closed at address AND lighter it might over cook any draw to now trouble on the left side! I was wondering if Michael tried removing the weight all together for laughs.

With flatter lie angle too would have been interesting to see how much it drew.

I live your reviews, no fluff and wasted time just solid analysis and information. Well done as always.
That’s looks crazy!!! I would love to take the right hand side of the course out of my drives!!
Just bought mine waiting to try it out this weekend!

Your reviews are great Mike!
Wow, I have the G410 sft which is amazing, this looks even more so
Have you done a comparison between the Ping G425 SFT and Cobra Rad Speed xD? As a sliver it would be nice to see

Bought this club and hate the noise definitely not a Ping sound, going back to the fitter to hopefully make a change !
What happens if you remove the weight from the SFT

This definitely needs to be tested against the 425 max with the weight in the heel and with an actual golfer who slices.
that's the plan as soon as we are allowed in the UK

I loved this at first but now I'm hitting duck hooks straight left 115 yards. I can't hit a fade with this driver if I try to
Compare it to the big Bertha b21, the b21 for me offered a straighter ball flight and has more fitting options.
Question....If I had G425 Max 9 degree lofted up to 10.5 with the weight to draw. How would that compare in “slice” correction to the 10.5 SFT
SFT is the slice killer. More effective than Max with adjustment to draw. Not even close.

Swingpath was quite neutral actually, it’s the face that was closed to path hence the ball starts left and then curves left.

Tbh. I like u hitting this driver. I'm not of a fade shape ball flight fan.
Very consistant! Surely any club that takes one side of the course out of play is a good thing? Just aim up the right.

Max does sit a fraction closed to my eyes but the SFT much more closed.
Does removing the weight in the heel remove the draw bias?
Yes but would also massively affect the swingweight of the club.

It does both Martin 👍
Would like to see the SFT vs the MAX with heal weight.
Nice video brother! Top top
I have the previous SFT, the G410. This new G425 SFT supposedly has a LOT more right-to-left bias than the G410 SFT. Any chance of a comparison video?
Great suggestion Joe👍
@@banditbaker1675 yes and see how they performed for mike delofted and set flat. Which then still drew the most.

This thing is amazing lol
Acoustics in your room make spund louder then it reallly is outside
Hopefully you can get a high handicap golfer who slices to test these now that COVID is ending.
Any ideas when it fixes it too much 😂
i slice terribly i’m working on getting my hands on one
The SFT does not totally get rid of the slice if you are a big slicer of the ball
Always thought taking a 10.5 down to 9 closed the face... interesting.
No it does the opposite.
If only they made an SFT in 9’, it would be a top seller!
Adjusts up to 1.5 degree so you can make it a 9
@@zacharysullivan9884 would have been interesting to see how the face sat when flattened too
Why would we have a player that hits it left test this club - waste of time
