No Name that’s fair too. I find the subtlety in design for GT cars - smooth lines, curves, etc. - brings out the elegance of the car, and since GTs are typically practical, it’s probably best if the overall looks are subdued
400hp + manual gearbox is all you really need to have a safe , fun driving experience. Anything above that horsepower figure is like asking for trouble.
This Cayman is too expensive in compare to Challenger Hellcat Widebody. And not looking as good as Challenger. So? Maybe for Porsche fans. For track driving is better to buy used formula monopost.
@D H Which is way too fast and ruins the feel of a manual box. A great car, ruined by too high gearing which is typical Porsche to stop it from being better than a 911
Having just garaged my GT4, I’m curious- why does *not a single reviewer* dig the fact that city driving in 2 gears is handy. Ripping roads & tracks are great in this ratio. Running second on tight canyons is perfect. Running third on sweepers is perfect. It’s like driving a velvet knife. Anywhere.
@@TheStraightPipes True- having had an STi, I liked the switch from 2/3, and how common it was, but this thing is a different beast. I like being able to wind the gear out, and let the linear progression roll out...

GT4 - 125km/h 2nd Gear -> 3rd GT3 - 125km/h 2nd Gear -> 3rd So I don't get why people complain about the Cayman but not the 911 when you shift at the same speed 0_o

I really don’t understand why you’re hating so much on the Spyder .. it’s basically the same car and actually much more special if you think of that there’s no other open top GT car except the Speedster. (And maybe Carrera GT and 918 Spyder). Compared to the GT4 where there are tons and tons of new and old GT3’s, GT3 RS, GT2 etc.. if you don’t like convertibles in general why hate on the Spyder? There’s nothing wrong with the car.. I’m pretty sure the spec your test car had is a part of your criticism.. The Spyder needs bucket seats as well, as it’s a hard core Roadster and not a Cruiser. The GT4 had a much better configuration
I don’t know if it’s just me but I feel like the 718 models (and boxers/Caymans in general) are missing something important that the 911 has always had, maybe the heritage or the classic shape.
Remember when Jeremy Clarkson and Richard Hammond said that the reason you buy the Cayman (or Boxster) is because you couldn't afford the 911? Sorry, but the Cayman GT4 and Boxster Spyder definitely made me forgot about 911.
Yuri, you should know I love you as my Canadian-Ukrainian brother, as I've been with you for a long time and your work, particularly with video, is outstanding. But dude, you look mindbogglingly hilarious with a helmet on.
My favourite Porsche GT car by far. Perfect in every way as a Porsche should be. Find myself watching more StraightPipes on RUclips. Your reviews are awesome!
Badass intro! I've heard that song many times now and you guys made a good edit to it. The cuts did go a bit behind the beat, but whatever, great job anyway.
Thank you, Porsche, for 3 pedals and analog gauges! Unless I win a serious jackpot, I won't be able show my support through a purchase. If I somehow win a million doll hairs, I promise to buy it.
I salute the affluent folks who buy cars like these and beat the crap out of them on the track. At our shop, we have a Giulia Quadrifoglio customer that takes his car to the track all the time. He had to go to aftermarket wheels, because he got his brakes so hot it melted the cheap OEM plastic center caps. On top of that, he had a dual-mode, remote controlled exhaust system installed so he could have it loud all the time in dynamic mode, instead of having to use race mode. Absolute savage.
The seats can be reclined by buying an aftermarket bracket kit. Very annoying to have to do, but on my GT3 it made a huge difference in seat comfort and room for a helmet.
I respect Porsche and their engineering. But everything about with you guys did trying to explain where that Porsche sits in the Porsche lineup is exactly why I don't desire a Porsche. It's like, nope I'm already bored and confused 😂. And I'm somebody that really likes and can spot a car..... But man I saw this driving down the street I'd be hard pressed to know.... what this was and what the difference is would be between it and any other Porsche. Driving it maybe but....
Cayman is amazing... because it's smaller and doesn't have a very high output compared to the 911, this is much more fun on the road or track for yer average drive... it's kinda like the MX5/Miata, because you'll drive it on the limit easier it brings more fun compared to a car that could go well beyond what your personal limit is as a driver.
If Dough by any chace comes to watch this great review hopely he will not loose his mind when you guys talk about the genious cup holder design porsche has on their models.
As a Boxster owner, I understand the gearing complaint. I wish Porsche wouldn't continue to hinder the Cayman/Boxster line with the excessively tall gearing.
The Cayman platform is magic. I had a chance to drive one in the Rockies and it felt like a magnet was keeping me on the road. 911 has a different feel to it , more wild. I wonder if the older 911s would feel better without the Turbos tbh.
Porsche Cayman is always the best option the driving experience is superior over any 911 and also the design topping the 911 more luggage storage etc !!
Great review! Amazing car. FYI the gearing is nearly identical to a 997 GT3 and only slightly longer than a 991 GT3. All of these cars will be breaking the highway speed limit in 2nd in Canada...

I think they're missing that 911 design language, but they are more similar to the classic 911s of old than the current 911 is.
