    you need to adjust the claw screws in the trem cavity. If you used heavier strings than it shipped with it will raise the trem. Loosen if the strings are heavier. Tighten for heavier.

      I added a spring before I put 10s on it, so that's probably why I didn't have any problems. Thanks

    Glad to see you are still enjoying it. I have the exact same model and color that I got last December and I love it! I was considering changing pickups, but I really like the split coil sound for surf, so I decided not to mod it. I was fortunate enough to pick it up when it was on sale for $559, and I think for the extra 60 bucks it's well worth it to me over the satin. The only thing I did to it was add an extra spring to the tremolo and put 10s on it. Fantastic guitar for the money!

      @bjackson4  Месяц назад +1

      Thank you! Glad that you’re still digging yours! Yeah the splits sound really nice.
      I put 10s on mine too and enjoy it! What does adding the extra spring to the tremolo do? Sorry, I’m not too familiar with the workings of tremolo systems 😅

    • @guithawk-ij8is
      @guithawk-ij8is Месяц назад

      I like a tighter tremolo for surf because I don't really do crazy dive bombs, just subtle effects. I had done the same thing on my strat and figured it would work because it's a similar system, I even used a Fender spring. I use 4 springs instead of 3, and I think the extra spring compensated for the extra tension when I put 10s on, so I didn't have to make any other adjustments.

    Nice review Bryce. Great guitar in many ways - the looks, the playability, great sounding pickups and quality soft case. As per my reply to tommydellz, I've got the SE Custom 24-08 in Eriza Verde a couple of years ago and I love it.
    The shop included a PLEK setup at no cost and they put on new strings with the gauge of my choice and we had a phone call to discuss how I'd like it setup. When it arrived there was a little bit of damage to the clear lacquer on the lower horn (about 1cm long by maybe 1-2mm). I took photos and the shop said I could either return it or they could ship it back, fix it and send it back to me. I chose to have it fixed for which they needed a couple of weeks and whilst they had it, I mentioned their was a small amount of fret buzz and if they could check the setup. They agreed, they had set it a touch too low, sow raised the action as well. Now it plays really well, the action is probably the lowest I've got on any of my guitars.
    The switch needs a clean as sometimes the bridge pickup drops out or has low volume, but it didn't come like that so either it's wearing out or is just dirty. I recently cleaned the switch on my Epiphone Les Paul (same style of switch) and used a piece of paper between the contacts after seeing the tip on RUclips somewhere. It worked like a charam and didn't cost a thing.

      Thank you! I appreciate it 😄. Wow, that shop took good care of you. I love hearing stories like that and am happy it worked out for you in the end! Fortunately my switch hasn’t needed to be cleaned yet, but I’m glad it’s an easy fix. Thank you for watching and commenting!

      @@bjackson4 they sure did. The crazy thing was, they still discounted their gear like other shops that sell them straight from factory setup.
      My only regret is not buying a second guitar from them before they changed to a repair/setup and parts/effects only business. By the time I found out, they'd sold most of their remaining guitars at even cheaper prices. As well as direct drop-off service, they also offer their services via other guitar stores and go and collect guitars from those stores to setup. I think the PLEK costs about $200 AUD.

    The SE maple tops seem a little hit and miss visually but this one of the best I've seen! Really nice definition on the flame

      Yep, some of them are terrible and probably shouldn't even be sold. I've seen some that look like 2 different guitars stuck together - either very different colouring or one side has no flame and the other has vibrant flame. I've got a SE Custom 24-08 in Eriza Verde and the shop I bought it from was nice enough to line them all up on a couch together and send me a photo so I could compare and pick. One got sold before I purchased, but found a really nice one in the remaining 4. I would never buy one, sight unseen.

    Hello. I am in the market for my first guitar. If I have a budget of around 6-700 do you think this is a good one to purchase or are there any better in that price range?

    • @bjackson4
      @bjackson4  Месяц назад +1

      Hello! I absolutely think this is a great guitar, especially in that price range. PRS has a 15% off deal that ends December 31st. It’s for most SE models so if you want to check out some other offerings from them, go for it! They also have a cheaper version of this model that has a satin finish instead of gloss with the maple top if that interests you.
      With that said, knowing what I know now, if I had to start over I would get something with a fixed bridge (hard tail) as my first guitar. It’s personal preference for sure, but I don’t use trem arms that much and could live without it. Also this guitar does have spring noise from the trem system just as a heads up. To fix it, I took off the back plate and put a small piece of cloth in there and it worked but there are other ways to fix it as well. It also might not bother you, but wanted to be transparent about it

      Also I strongly recommend playing one before buying if that’s possible. If not, check out the return policy. That way in case you don’t like it you can return it 🤘🏽

    Hi just wanted to know of its better than a squire 40th anniversay or classic vibe telecaster

    • @bjackson4
      @bjackson4  2 месяца назад +1

      Hello! That is a great question. I will say that these two types of guitars are quite different and which one is better will depend on the needs of the player. So unfortunately I can’t answer that for you. I have a player tele HH and here’s my thoughts between the two:
      In terms of how the guitar feels, I like the PRS more. They both don’t have arm carves but the SE CE 24 feels thinner so I enjoy it more. The necks on both are comfy but I got the Tele that has a gloss fretboard which I’ve come to discover isn’t comfortable to me. You could have the complete opposite experience though, so it depends on the player.

    Question: why are these PRS SE guitars being heavily discounted right now? What's their problem, or any issue? QC?
    I've never seen PRS SE being discounted (even just 10%) when they were still being made in South Korea. Now that they're all made by Cor-Tek Indonesia and they're being discounted for something like 30%-40%, and that is just too fishy.

    • @bjackson4
      @bjackson4  2 месяца назад +2

      That is a great question! I don’t know why they are being discounted now, but I will say that mine doesn’t have any issues with playability or QC. It feels smooth to play and things function on it as they should. I haven’t seen the 30%-40% discounts though. Is that happening with a specific dealer? Last year it was 20% off most SEs and this year it’s 15%.

    • @Hagfish-WS
      @Hagfish-WS 2 месяца назад

      @@bjackson4 guess it's only happening in the UK right now; BUT last year it did happen in the USA, like in Sweetwater and stuffs. My point however is why PRS SE is having a lot more discounts now, than they were made in S. Korea by WMI.
      Btw I'm on the fence for that PRS SE Sandblasted (Made in Indonesia, the ones right now; they once did this before in 2018/2019); is that a good guitar or would you recommend that or not?
      Thanks.

    • @bjackson4
      @bjackson4  2 месяца назад +1

      @@Hagfish-WS Oh! Gotcha. To be honest, I'm not sure why there are more sales now 😅. As for the sandblasted one, I personally think those look amazing. If I didn't have this one I would be torn between the one I got and either the blue or purple sandblasted ones. I haven't gotten my hands on one to play yet, but if it plays like the one I have then I recommend it. Are you able to try before you buy, or if not, are you able to return it if you don't like it?

    • @Hagfish-WS
      @Hagfish-WS 2 месяца назад

      @@bjackson4 the sandblasted ones aren’t available close to where I am, but there are other PRS SE around (the cheapest satin is available easily), and I think the one similar to yours is (or was that the Custom), but yeah I was on the fence as to how the QC goes with PRS SE now after being made by Cor-Tek Indonesia.
      Like I have an Ibanez RG565; you don’t see Ibanez being discounted, especially the RG’s. But true to your videos though, no matter how awesome the guitar is, if it doesn’t fit you then it won’t be for you. And this RG565 of mine just isn’t cutting it (I previously owned an RG550, and during the pandemic I actually owned the now-discontinued RG521. The hardtail version). So now I think in this lifetime or timeline, I’m just no good on the RG series. Thus I’m looking for its replacement but I hope the replacement is as solid as its QC as the RG I have right now.

    • @bjackson4
      @bjackson4  2 месяца назад

      @@Hagfish-WS Gotcha gotcha! That's a good point, I don't see those Ibanez guitars on sale either. But yeah, don't sweat it and enjoy the journey! I went from an Ibanez RG2EX2 to an Ibanez RGD and since that guitar I've been trying out a bunch of different brands and styles of guitars finding out what I like and dislike about them. If you have the PRS SE Standard satin, then that one will feel closer to the sandblasted one than the one with the gloss top, but the sandblasted one does still have it's own unique feel. I played a Jackson Sandblasted guitar and liked that one. I wish you success with finding your next guitar that you gel with!
