Not only are PRS knocking it out of the park with their SE line of guitars, you're hitting a home run with the quality and depth of your assessments of them. Well done!
A real slugfest going on
These deep dives are the best! I haven't played a PRS, yet. Good Luck to all entering the Contest. Thanks to PRS Guitars, and to Phil and family. 🎸👍👍👍
These new PRS SE's all look good. That Swamp Ash Special looks awesome
The CE was also Alex Lifeson's favorite PRS when he used them. Cool.
About 4 years ago a friend of mine sent me a picture from an Eagles concert. Joe Walsh was playing a PRS SE on stage. It looked like a CE. When I zoomed in I could easily see the SE on the headstock. These are great guitars. My favorite is still my 245.
Joe Walsh is a budget gear hero. Went from ruling the world with a 50s Bassman and a 59 Les Paul to playing through a Blues Deluxe reissue on the Eagles reunion tour
Affordable bolt on neck SE is a winner in my book. Thanks for the look into the line Phil.
It's not though. It's the same price
Love PRS-SE guitars; I have a Custom 22 Semi-Hollow and recently added a Custom 24--can't get enough of them. Love the violet with the matching headstock but the Swamp Ash is simply awesome. Thanks for the reviews, Phil, and to PRS for the contest.
Thanks for the opportunity! Love the looks and sounds of these guitars!
Love the reviews and tech tips but truly enjoy watching you play each guitar. You make it look so easy
good to see you in the shop, just a tad envious of your tidy, organized wall of awesomeness
The SE CE24 is going to be a huge seller at that price point. I think I found my next project guitar!
I liked them all, and the headstock matching the fretboard or top both looked good. What impressed me most was that each one had a good variety of tones and character.
Hi Phil, can't wait for this bonus round. Enjoy the podcast everyone!
I’ve been thinking of taking the plunge, your reviews make it much easier! Thanks!
Hi Phil, I really enjoyed this in-depth review. You highlighted the changes and improvements very well. Your playing and sound checks of the various pickup combinations helped to differentiate the nuances between the various models. Well done. Cheers ✌️🎸
The swamp ash is awesome got mine yesterday, if u like fendery tones with buttery feeling strings, this guitar is for you. It my favorite se yet, over the se silver sky and im a strat tele player.
Got mine yesterday in Sunburst. What a beast!
@@melaniebrown8282 u love it, I can't put mine down, it plays as good as my core prs or my American fenders, I'm very surprised by the swamp ash, I played some other swamp ash guitars and hated them, it was very neutral tone. But these are like twangy fender prs growl in one. Very happy, I buy alot of guitars, this has been the best one of this year. Prs is killing it like usual.
I played out live a few times with mine....didn't dissapoint great for covers / rock...country
I can’t stand a dark board with a light headstock. Love that the veneer is back!
Your videos keep getting better and better brodda! And your playing as well... Nice job-
Thanks for all this work you put in for these high quality videos.
You've taught me more than I'd ever believed could happen. Love these beautiful guitars and thanks for the give aways.
What a time to be alive the SE range just keeps getting better and better!!❤ Lucky Phil❤❤❤ you get to review em all!!
Also TY to you and PRS for the giveaway!!🎉
Thanks, Phil… I just got the SE CE24, and it is a beauty! It is, not surprisingly, a typical PRS guitar - perfect out of the box - can’t find a thing wrong with it…. Gonna be fun!
Great additions to the SE line, my USA SAS is one of my fav guitars ever, nice to see it as an affordable option.
I have a very early Schecter JL7 and LOVE the combo of an ash body and maple fingerboard. So versatile. Another great post, Phil.
So glad that it's the SAS you're giving away! Thanks Phil and thanks PRS!
The Violet custom looks awesome. I'm very interested in the CE.
I LOVE the SE line! I have a SE 7 string that's one of the easiest playing 7 strings I've ever tried! Thanks for the great review.
Really glad PRS added a CE to the SE line. I prefer the CE bolt-ons because of the extra snap to their sound. Hopefully I’ll be able to get one to give my 24-08 SE Standard some company.
I have a PRS SE baritone from around 2016. Best guitar I've ever owned. Granted I've never been able to afford a guitar that costs thousands, so I'm sure there are better out there, but still, I've never needed more. Beautiful, comfortable, perfect build, plays true, sounds fantastic. Fits me like it was custom built. I've never had a guitar grow on me like this one. Cost me around $700, plays like it was $1,200. Edit: Also the only guitar I haven't had customized in any way. It came to me already perfect.
Hey, Phil. Thanks for this review. I just bought one of the Swamp Ash Specials at my local store. Very cool guitar. I wasn't fully aware of what was going on with the push/pull pot. Your review cleared that up. Lol. Loving this so far. Thanks again.
Great review! I def want one of the CE's after watching this
Good to see that the SE line is getting big updates. Looks good.
I've been dying since I got started playing and uploading to try a PRS type. These are absolutely beautiful too. Excellent review Phillip!!!!!!!!!!!
Killer Tim Pierce cameo at the end 🤘🏻😁🔥 … or was that a glitch on my end 😳
Phil, great video man. Looking good!
As always..., "In Phil We Trust" - thank you for the reviews, they are always helpful!
Love the black headstock addition, looks awesome 👌
I've been looking at these guitars all day, glad to catch the video so soon. That violet Custom looks amazing.
I wonder if we'll get these in my country.
I like both but like the look of the maple better. Great quick look at the models! Great job as always Phil.
I appreciate your videos. I am a older beginner. I am shopping for a PRS SE for myself. Your experience shows in your videos. Thank you for your time. Joe
I am going to purchase a PRS from Sweetwater. Do I order through you? I wanted to let you get your percentage. Thanks
I'm currently saving for an SE model...so this is perfect timing, because all the se models seem and look fantastic
Thanks for the opportunity!
Satin necks! Looks like I may be going back to a PRS :) I am partial to the ASH model
The three pickup model is a great value and looks great!
I entered! Thank you and PRS for the chance at winning one of these beautiful guitars. Good luck to everyone!
Those guitars look good! I have my CE 24 for about 2 years, and i love it! So i'm thinking to buy an SE version, for backup or a different tunning.
Nice review, really appreciate it. That new bolt on neck heel carve is the business. Have never liked the way a PRS neck joined at the body until now. Like the flat black headstock vs maple. Just ordered my first PRS guitar, a SE CE24. Not sure about having 24 frets but guess will find out soon. Cheers!
Great review Phillip, ( as usual ) PRS have knocked it out of the park. Their " more affordable" range just gets better & better, if I had the money I would love the S2 as the Core series is unfortunately way beyond my pay grade. PEACE AND LOVE TO EVERYONE ❤❤.
That last one is seriously nice looking, love the black back and violet front.
Im really liking the new more complex intros and outros!
Well Done! A very good overview.
I'm glad you mentioned the 24 fret models' slightly different pickup locations do in fact affect the tone a bit. My S2 Standard 24 has absolute knock-out "position 4" Strat sounds when split in the middle position. I realized it must have something to do with the pickups being spaced tighter than the 22 fret models, but I'd never heard anyone else mention this before. I immediately wanted to jump on the SAS because I love those middle Strat tones...but I still prefer what I get out of my Standard 24!
Three very good looking guitars. I have an SE gig bag that I got with a used guitar years ago. It's one of the best gig bags I've seen.
Whoa - new studio looks great!!
Hello Phillip, PRS SE’s very nice. Personally love the weight. Thanks for sharing your knowledge. Played in HS getting back in for my finger dexterity. Much has changed. the black head is very nice especially on that guitar but i depends on the guitar a painted body often looks good with a painted headstock natural or burst body matching headstock. I enjoy your channel immensely.
That purple quilt is off the charts!
PRS does a great job. I hope to buy an SE in the next few years. My friend has one, and I love it!!!
Thanks Phillip. Appreciate you.
I had a Core SAS that I bought in 2000. Great guitar. Probably at the top of my list of guitars I wish I hadn't sold. (GAS makes us do stupid things sometimes.)
Bought the SAS. Thanks for the video!
Just bought an SE CE 24 in vintage sunburst and it's fantastic. Not a single problem out of the box, frets were even and no sharp frets. Great guitar IMO .
Thanks for your videos always a great topic. Also thanks for a chance to win that beauty! PRS makes some great stuff! Cheers
That CE SE looks so good!
Awesome stuff man!!
Absolutely love that Custom 24 SE in turquoise, I am OBSESSED. They will sell out soon, but hopefully I can snag one
Great video Phil 🤘🎸🍻
That last one with the quilted top is the best looking out of the three with the full binding.
i love all the PRS models. they make a great looking guitar.
A whole bunch of great pickups
Oh I like that older bolt on joint so much more not just feel wise but aesthetically too!
I love the reintroduction of the black headstock on the 24, that's so much better. The maple board SAS with the maple headstock was also the right choice as far as I!m concerned. Might have to pick up an SAS, it looks great. Thanks for the video Phil!
SAS always came with maple boards. Some even came with flamed maple necks/boards.
Thanks for all the videos
Gorgeous guitars ! Especially love the violet one !! Praying I get lucky ! 🙏
Dang, your playing just keeps getting better!
All three of them are absolutely gorgeous things PRS are and have been top of my GAS list for a while now .I’ve been heavy heavy hankering for a Paul’s SE but that violet coloured one ….has just took the top spot on my wish list .
I’ve been playing second hand guitars since I began playing back in 2019 due to lack of funds and having to pay the bills and eat lol
I’m about to start a new job With good salary my first wee treat I’m gonna get a PRS the thugs are awesome
Phil, Great video. Keep it up ...
Excited to see what you think of the baritone
Thanks Phil. I don’t keep up with PRS at all so, it’s fun to see that SE are keeping up with Squier and Epiphone in the quality department and possibly exceeding expectation by offering ash wood. Perhaps the next Classic Vibe or Epiphone 59 LP will be upgraded with more Vintage-correct choices since PRS seems to be going that extra mile.
i was checking out the PRS SE line up today at my local store and was undecided which model to get. Thanks for the info. i think i have a better idea on direction to go.
The grain on the ash one is amazing!
The black headstock with the dark fretboard looks awesome!
Nice. Giving the PRS another look now...
I believe the push-pull on the Swamp Ash Special activates the middle PU. So when you read the DC ohms you were reading the neck+bridge setting. Thanks for the video, I think I need a SAS in my collection!!
Ah, I see, you got it... The downside to that setup is that you can't get the middle PU by itself.
Pretty nice axe ! Thanks Phillip !
Someone already won! Congratulations!
I really love the look of that violet quilt maple top.
Really surprised at the price point of the CE. If I didn't already have a USA CE 24 I'd definitely nab me one. SAS looks cool as well.
I see an SE Custom 24-08 in my future. Great value in my opinion.
As soon as they make an SE Vela...
I've always thought the same thing. I have an S2 McCarty and I'm almost to the point where I'm just gonna treat myself to an S2 Vela
Satin finishes are big for me. The CE with that satin 20mm neck is so far a top candidate. Too bad I have too many guitars that do "that thing" already
Thanks!
Well after waiting and watching and more watching I finally managed to snag a SE CE24 in Blood Orange from Sweetwater should be here midway through next week. Can't wait....been a while since I've gotten a new guitar and have had some serious PRS G.A.S. Of late..Thanks again Phillip for this video really helped me decide which one I wanted to go with!!!!
Really digging the SAS
Really like the finish on the SAS 👍👍
I really like what PRS is doing with these. Great finishes and material choices. The headstock veneer looks sleek and classy.🤘🎸
I like either the black head stock or the matching one. That's why I purchased a violet one.
I like it, SE Swamp ash looks cool. Has a certain Ibanezesque look to it.
Hey Phil,
I don’t own any PRS guitars but I’ve played a good handful of them and I’ve worked on a few too. If someone asks me what guitar they should buy with a roundabout 800-1000 budget I’d have to recommend one of these SE models man. I just wish guitars were this nice way back in the late 70’s into 80’s when I was much younger hah! Incredible value…
Thanks for the review as always, dig your channel man 🤙
PRS is rocking it with these new guitars!
Fantastic looking guitars! 🙂
I haven’t played too many SE electrics yet. But I will say this: PRS makes the absolute best sub $1000 acoustic that I’ve ever played. The SE A60E is the absolute best acoustic that I’ve played for under $1000.
The acoustic took my breath away when I took it out of it’s case. And it was like butter. Idk why I haven’t tried their electrics yet. Rn I have a custom shop strat and a sg standard t, and I’ve been wanting a gibson 335. I had a sire larry Carlton 335 that was pretty good, just too heavy. Maybe instead of looking for a used gibson 335 I should instead check out a prs se semi hollow 🤔
