He came to San Diego for Comic-Con years ago and stayed at the hotel where I worked. He was soooo nice... his costume was clearly in need of washing...🤭 and he earned the nickname Stinky Superman. but he had a big scrapbook of photos of him as Superman which he very proudly showed us. I was very sad to hear of his passing...
One of the saddest hard luck Hollywood stories ever.
yes but life does not care about anyone you have to adapt and find a way to survive. life is very very hard everywhere in the world
This is so sad. Poor guy. Nobody should go homeless. I remember when I was homeless for a year. I lived in a shelter, got chicken pox at 30, mugged, and my siblings didn't do squat to help. If you can't work, still try to get help if you're homeless with no money. The streets are not safe
Your siblings knew about your situation? You told them and they refused to help? Really? This is a horror story. I'm so sorry to hear this happened to you, if indeed they ignored your terrible need. How were you able to lift yourself up, from that nightmare of a situation?
@@annehaase3380 me, too. It's more common then you think. Also it's something that if one of your siblings does do some little thing, they can throw up in your face if you disagree with them on something OR instead of keeping your personal matters private, they can't wait to gossip to other family members or spill it all out on their Facebook page.
To be fair, we have not heard your sibling's side of the story. :( While I agree with you about the homeless had you done something in your past that keeps your siblings from helping you? Thank you.
@@jerrysullivan8424 nope, never homeless before, no drug or alcohol addiction, it was an safe domestic situation. If you haven't experienced it Mr. Sullivan, you should keep your comments to yourself. Especially in these times the world is experiencing. This situation is happening to many people everywhere who never thought it could or would happen to them. Count your lucky stars or blessings it doesn't suddenly appear at your doorstep in your life or any friends or family.
So sad siblings didn't help
That is such a sad ending to his life. Thank you for doing a "Memorial" of sorts for him
So young! Believe me, his life is a million times better up in heaven then it was here on Earth. Sure he made lots of people happy
and I'm sure that made him feel on top of the world. But he was homeless, no real job! Too bad some director in Hollywood
didn't start a "New" Superman TV Series. Maybe he was too old? ⛪✝🧡
Heaven is a fantasy. When you die, you rot.
@@yourroyalhighness7662 Incorrect. Some people choose to be cremated. I choose to live forever
@@simplymeconnie4003 Good luck with that.
I met him at graumens. He signed my DVD of his documentary. Cool dude. Rest In Peace ✌️
Chris Dennis didn't choose life, life chose him. He had a whole lot of bad luck. A true super man. May he rest in peace.
Bad luck? He was a drug addict.
@@leemcbride8146 his bad luck make him loss everything, he didn't choose this life.
@@gerujmi bad luck????!!! umm no
None of us chose life. But we can't go around smoking crack and meth. I wish I could bc my depression is out of control, but it's a decision we make
🎭I remember seeing Christopher on Hollywood Blvd. I’m glad he had his love of Superman to give him joy. One of the many reasons people cut is an unbearable feeling of emptiness & loneliness and the feeling that the pain will never subside. My heart goes out to anyone who feels desperation like that. I hope he’s at peace. 🎭
That was a nice remembrance of him, I'm glad that you told us about him.
Q
I wonder if that was the same donation bin?
I agree. I don’t live in Hollywood so I’d never heard about him until Scott talked about him on Facebook.
You are not a celebrity elitist Scott... you give respect to anyone who fascinates you & us....
Great post, very profound.
George Reeves, the old Superman show, Christopher Reeve, the original 70's movies and Christopher Dennis, this guy. weird name correlations there
Now that you mention it.🤔
@Vagina Doctor You're kidding, right?
@Vagina Doctor How do you know this?
Dennis Hopper .... a shoe bin can be called a ''hopper'' or ''receptacle''
@@carmineredd1198 also CHRISTOPHER LLOYD - lloyd his middle name.
Instead of the mentally ill getting the help they need, they are roaming the streets, homeless and ill. Thank you for the video. Stay safe.
that's why we need to bring back long-term institutions. It's better for everyone involved
It’s just better all around for “the collective”. We as a society need to have some basic standards like obscenity rules, protecting citizens by hospitalizing the mentally ill (where if you broke down the lifetime money allotment for patients I’m sure it saves The Collective in all types of advantageous ways
Vid Adorno well, there has to be a place for people that can face the fact they are beyond taking care of themselves
You can't go around forcing innocent people into institutions against their will. Regardless of if they're mentally Ill or not. They still have civil rights. And who would decide who goes and who doesn't? I agree that mentally sick people absolutely need and should get whatever help they need but we can't just go putting people away like that.
Nikki Best no, it should be handled by their families, Doctors and courts
This is such a sad situation. Very sad Christopher didn’t get the help he needed. Breaks my heart that he suffered so much in this world from his demons. RIP
just wanted to say 'i love your channel'.
i love the fact that you don't have an intro, you dive right in and tell the story in such an empathetic,
compassionate way.
poor superman. RIP
The physics behind that bin mechanism must create a lot more potential force than you’d think. Other people have died trying to pull donations out of those things,
Yes. Clothing donation box deaths are a thing sadly
It's just donated crap. Why make it hazardous to get things out of it. I mean no disrespect to your size 15 cowboy boots. This is sad.
Why aren't they sued for maintaining an attractive nuisance? If a child climbs over a low wall into my pool and drowns I'm responsible.
If I put a steel pipe under my mailbox because kids run down the wood one, and a car is cut in half it's my responsibility.
Seems the boxes are equipped with a deadly booby trap.
Those clothing bins have been removed from my city.Too many accidents because they are a death trap literally.
So sad to hear that this man passed away in the manner that he did. I guess he’s now at rest and not having to deal with all the bad stuff in his life.
Broken neck ⁉
I know this guy 😞 He was so nice. He was also in the 30 Seconds to Mars video talking about his experience along with one of the Marilyn impersonators. Thanks for the lovely memorial Scott ❤️ 🦸🏻♂️
Fly high Hollywood superman❤️
That is such as sad outcome. Everyone has demons.
this world creates them. That is sad.
I became acquainted with him when I had a kiosk on Hollywood Blvd. He was always friendly and courteous. Never would imagine he had such serious substance abuse and mental problems. He always seem like an even tempered down-to-earth guy who like to make people smile when they got a chance to take a photo with "Superman." May he rest in Grace.
I met this guy 20 years ago on set of movie we were both working on as extras ( "The Italian Job" maybe). I remember a few of us thinking this guy really thinks he is Superman or at least Christopher Reeves as Superman. Like you mentioned he seemed like a nice guy but also a bit mental. Those cattle calls always brought out the borderline homeless, ex con and crazy types. Sad and disturbing none the less to hear about this. I can't understand how he thought he would be able to retrieve anything from that device. What a way to go. RIP Chris.
Do you get paid as an extra?
@@annieisok359 When I started doing extra work in 2013 it was $64/8hrs in CA. Now I'm in the SAG union and it's typically $178/8hrs.

Such a sad life, but a very nice tribute to him, Scott! I have a viewer who has asked me to visit his gravesite. She will be happy to see your video and I'm guessing you'll be visiting his gravesite once his headstone has been placed, which will make her even happier :-)
In 2003, my family & I drove cross country to California, I met & shook hands with Dennis. I asked him if he would pose for me like Superman fighting a villain, he was gracious to do that. I remember him telling me he might be considered for the "Superman Returns" movie. Through the years I still remembered Dennis & how special that road trip was. I will always remember him. Rest in Peace Mr. Dennis aka "Kal-El".
This is the sad reality of our nation's homeless. Shame on our politicians for not coming up with more assistance to these poor souls
And what are you doing to help the homeless? Are you providing them with free sandwiches, haircuts, bathing facilities, a ride , the opportunity to get an job, some counseling . It is not the government’s job to play rescue maid and then shift the burden of taxes upon us. There are thousands of homeless who have fallen into addiction and have let their addiction bring them to ruin . But there are millions of people who in some way have recourse to recreational drugs and then many slip into addiction. The problem is all those millions contribute to the breaking of the law by indulging in their addiction or recreational drug use, contributing to the violence of drug trafficking, and the extraordinary expenditure of money and manpower to counter the crime. So unless people stop experimenting, stop indulging and control their own behavior and take responsibility for their lives in every possible way then there will always be homeless and poor people. You shift the blame , the responsibility and the proactive response to the government. YOU take charge, and YOU make a difference. In days of the past those who did decide to make a difference established organizations, associations and fellowships . Many of those men and women are called saints and have names like Francis, Vincent de Paul, Frances Cabrini, Bhakita , Martin de Porres , Elizabeth Ann Seton, Teresa of Calcutta, John Bosco , Francis Duchesne ,Katherine Drexel , Florence Nightingale , Damian of Molokai , William Wilberforce , Danny Thomas. So many contributors of their time, talent, money, and selves given to help their fellow man by direct personal involvement or initiatives. And you, WHAT about YOU. That’s right , let the government solve it. That nameless behemoth , that gets every thing wrong , but just continues to grab money, create little bureaucratic power bosses and gathers more control over people’s lives while crushing initiative and creating mental and physical inertia in people.
I remember seeing him & several other characters on Hollywood blvd when I was out there in 2011.
Met Christopher when visiting Hollywood and on that same day was visiting Grauman's Chinese Theatre when Darth Vader lashed out at a Tourist for NOT tipping even to the point of taking off the Vader Helmet! (caught it on Video) Thank You for sharing the memory of Christopher Dennis.
That is so sad. I've seen him before in other people's videos. I thought he was odd but never thought he had such a hard time. I'm glad that he at least had friends who attended his funeral. Thank you for sharing this and thank you for being kind and showing respect. May he rest in peace.
I’m not from California but I did visit LA 15 years ago and I did have the pleasure of meeting Christopher Dennis outside the Chinese Theatre. It was right around the time they had made the documentary confessions of a Superhero. I remember my buddy and I thought that out of all the people dressed as superheroes and other characters, Christopher’s costume looked just like the one worn by the late Christopher Reeve in the Superman films. He was the most professional out of the bunch And he was super nice and not aggressive at all. We took a picture with him and he said we didn’t have to give him a tip but they were very much appreciated and I remember we tipped him anyway. He was so cool and so nice that he gave us excellent directions to this café we wanted to go to that was right around the corner from Amoeba Records since both my friend and I were big music collectors. It turned out great because it was just a few blocks down from the Chinese Theatre. From what we saw back then to the documentary and all the RUclips videos of Hollywood Superman, Christopher Dennis had definitely become a part of the Hollywood backdrop. I’m glade I got to meet him when I did and I’m also happy to see someone like you make a video commemorating Christopher. Hollywood Superman will definitely be missed!
Nice of you to pay him your respects. It sad when someone's life takes a turn for the worse. I wonder if he saw someone put something of value into the green box. Maybe he donated something he later regretted and wished to get back. Sad, sad.
Ironic that a neck injury killed him just like what eventually did Reeves in. :/
Reeve
Somebody get Henry cavill and tell him to protect his neck!
And they're both named "Christopher". Weird.
Reeves didnt die from a neck injury.. He had a heart attack
He died while goodwill hunting
Every since I saw this video, I have googled his name and watched many clips and videos. His father dropped him off at a place for unwanted kids when he was just 6 years old and had a sad life ever since. I just can't get over how sad this man's story is. It's just heartbreaking the more I learn about him......And at some point later in life, he got robbed and they burned his Superman costume and someone started a go fund me for a new outfit. Then he dies and they had another go fund me for funeral expenses and he was buried in his Superman costume.
What a weird way to go.
Bless you Christopher Dennis, for shining light for others, out of your own darkness. 🙌 Sik
SO SAD , SUCH HORRIFIC ENDING , BUT THANK YOU FOR MEMORIALIZING HIM RIP FOREVER CHRISTOPHER DENNIS AKA SUPERMAN 🙏❤💔😥🦸♂️
Poor guy. I remember him being out there, but unlike you, I always perceived him as abrasive and troubled. I felt for him when he suddenly went from wearing a film-ready Man Of Steel suit to what looked like a child's Superman onesie. You can also see him in Jared Leto's music video for City Of Angels.
RIP Christopher
Rest in peace, Mr. Dennis. Sleep well.
I had no idea he had died, this is so sad to hear!! I saw him in the super hero doc when it was shown on TV....he was definitely enthusiastic about being Superman. Hopefully he's at peace now!!!
1) "7-11 Pizza..."
2) "The donation box is green...the color of Kryptonite."
..Sorry....that's hilarious!!!!...and I laughed(don't judge).
Such a busy street, too. I wonder if it was quick or if he was stuck there for a long time yelling for help. Sad no matter how you look at it. May he RIP.
Thank you for remembering him. You’re the best person.
Poor guy. He contributed in his own way to the Hollywood experience. Where would it be without these colourful characters?

This really hit home in a weird way. My birthday is also June 16th and my wedding was Superman themed. I remember watching the documentary and just feeling terrible for him. I didn't know about his death though. Thanks for unearthing stories that not many of us know about and delivering them in such an interesting and compassionate way.
What a wonderful person that helped give Christopher Dennis his beautiful funeral and final resting place.
I remember him.. so sad
😥He was a real sweet person
This is the second time I’ve heard of someone dying after getting stuck in one these types of donation bins. The first was a woman who tried to get the clothes in there after dark in winter and died of exposure/hypothermia.
I think it's (quite literally) a crime they're designed that way and then placed in public places.
If a homeless person wants to get some shoes, then just let them do it.
Don't design and place a bin that could kill them, if they try.
@D Larson Yes, I’ve heard about that. Very sad and tragic.
One of the first people I connected with upon my arrival in Metropolis. R.I.P. my friend
How in the hell does Scott Michaels have less than 50 k subscribers? This dude deserves way more than that! It's crazy and interesting seeing that bank. I always thought it was a bigger bank. So cool!
I believe his tale on his mom. DNA would have settled it. Though
Her family denied it. Did you miss that part?
Bro you are a saint I am sure his family is grateful for remembering him and making this positive video about him, I hope the world remembers me as fondly
When we went to Hollywood last year for the first time in many many years, we were in front of Grauman's and were accosted by the then current Superman, who was not this gentleman obviously. He tried to get $5 out of us to have our picture taken with him and we politely declined and kept walking and he followed us, told us he was going to "fuck us up!", and called us perverts. Then he started doing boxing motions as he was walking quickly towards us. Nice. He then gave up and turned around but still screaming expletives. He's lucky I didn't have a fucking stun gun.
@Mr Deepstroke Into the Abyss 😂👍
What a kind tribute you had fir this guy! 👍 he had great Friends indeed
Was he balding? If so, I saw that superman last time I was there.
@@vaporwavemicrowave1381 no, he was about 30, thick dark hair, good looking but acne..yes, Superman had acne. Lol.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I watched a documentary on him. Sad end to a nice guy. He had a hell of a collection of memorabilia. I wonder what happened to it.
I watched that documentary. He seemed one of the least creepy ones. Thanks for the info. You were respectful but honest.
They should make a movie about his life and the way he died. A promotion to rebuild Hollywood by showing the low side. Do different stories from different decades. 20's, 50's, 70's, 2000's etc. Contrast the glitz and glamour with the meager existance. I tried to live in Hollywood in the 90's without a car....forget it. I lived in room on Hollywood & Western and walked all the way to Sunset car wash to work. I didn't know what I was doing. I got to see a lot of Hollywood Blvd in the morning and at night though.

losangelesbassist I clicked it and it was Kanye west talking about random stuff.
Can u elaborate what it’s supposed to be ? Something about LA?
Thanks dude

Indeed they should
I remember RUclipsr Trisha Paytas talking about her friendship with him because she worked as Superwoman with him!
I'm surprised about this information. How long ago did they work together?
Vaporwave Microwave she has a video about him called losing a friend
Trisha tells a story VERY EARLY in her youtube career when she lived on the beach. She tells about meeting him and she was working for tips, cracked out and had an STD. She says he locked her in his basement and kept her for several days. I met him in 2004 so I knew EXACTLY who she was talking about. She was on Stan Lee's "so you want to be a super hero" game show. She did comic con every year then. She was sleeping with Ponch from C.H.I.P.S. then 🤢🤢🤮🤮
Its crazy how busy that street is and him being there so long. I lived right there years ago and there was always cops, and people driving 24/7. The police station is so close by as well. So bizarre
Awww man that sucks, I met & talked to him a few times back in the early 2000's on Hollywood Blvd.
Hey, Scott. One of the perps in the N Hollywood Shootout was a student at the Devry Pomona campus. My instructor knew him as a nice quiet guy.
Wow! I remember this guy. What a great story he had. Also, so many people actually die this way. Now he can be with his favorite actor.
I remember the north Hollywood shootout. I was in elementary school and we all had to go on lockdown In the cafeteria.
That was interesting and a lovely tribute. Thank you Scott for taking us along.
I've been to metropolis, Illinois and they have an amazing museum and huge statue and the super man days celebration is nice
Cleveland, Ohio almost got [The World's] Superman Museum. But got The Rock And Roll Museum. Which, ironically, belongs in Memphis, Tennessee.
Thank you for sharing. Much love
You always do a great job! I love to listen to your voice. Thank you for all you do!
Another fantastic video. Gosh, those bins are extremely unforgiving!
You're my favorite historian. Thank you!
Such a heartbreaking story. He sounds like a really nice man who wanted to bring happiness to others by portraying his hero. He deserved a better ending than what he had. 😢 RIP Superman, I hope you get to hang out with Christopher Reeves in the afterlife.
And George.🦸♂️
We die, we are but a blip in the life of our own existence. Tomorrow arrives as though nothing has happened ready to turn the page of life. You sir gave a little more meaning to his life and possibly spoke more than what was said at his final resting place. Respect!
You did a giod respectful job. Thanks for not being mean. Love watching you❤❤❤❤❤
Your respect and compassion always moves me. You are a good person.
I just read Christopher Reeves died at age 52. And Christopher Lloyd Dennis died at age 52, too. Very bizarre.

Geez, you think that they would put warning signs on that donation bin after his death happened, about potential injury occurring, but nope.
