Tiny Tim lived in my neighborhood (Washington Heights) in NYC when I was 12-13. I’m 75 now, and remember that he was a really nice man. My friends and I would flag him down on the streets and someone would call out to him, “Hey Herbie, sing us a song.” He would take his ukulele out of its case and play it while singing. Some people made fun of him, but the kids really enjoyed his performances. RIP Tiny Tim!

Had the privilege of interviewing Tiny Tim on two occasions. The sweetest and most sincere man I ever met. And yes, he called me "Miss Lorraine." He told me he worked every day to pay the rent.

I'm happy that he didn't die alone and had his wife next to him but makes me sad that even just before his death he was disrespected and made fun of by someone, I didn't know that this happened must have made the situation even more stressful for Tiny Tim.

@@randybuchert3283 I was born in 65 and yes, I remember them along with Tiny Tim, what surprised me in this video was his death in the mid 90's, I don't remember it being in the news but I do know he died on stage just having heard it mentioned, I just thought it was years before in the early/mid 70's since I don't remember anything about him since back in those days, I just don't recall him being on any shows or in the spotlight in any capacity since back then and is why I always figured he'd died that long ago. He certainly was different that's for sure, there'll never be another like him.
I actually saw Tiny Tim in Florida. He was so much fun. He came over and sat at our table with us the whole time we were there. He was a very nice and respectful man!

Yes, he was. I met him when he played some shows at the Baltimore Playboy Club back in early 1970s. What a total gentleman, and a dedicated entertainer. Sweet dreams, Mr. Tim.
My family spotted Tiny Tim at the MSP airport in the 70’s. My mother said hello and told him how much she enjoyed him on The Tonight Show and he was incredibly kind and gracious despite obviously being in a hurry. We gained a new respect for him.

I had always been a huge fan of Tinys for years, but i thought that my mom and my aunt were just going to the concert that night for my sake. After the show, Tiny came out to sign autographs and my mom and my aunt had to speak with Tiny about how much they enjoyed his show, so i guess Tiny gained two new fans that night!

I met Tiny Tim several times in The New England area in the early to mid 90’s. He would always call me Mr. Richard whenever he saw me. When I saw him at Spooky World in Berlin,MA just after he did the Howard Stern New Year’s Eve pay per view he was on a career resurgence. I got to see him a couple times at a small club in Walpole,MA which was a very intimate setting. Tiny would give his best whether there were 5,000 or 50 people. I brought several friends with me one night who were like the poster of this video,they were there to mock and jeer. However when you met this man and saw him perform you got a totally explosive show and after the show when he did his meet and greet you saw a very cordial and respectful human being who treated his fans with the utmost of respect and humility. I was privileged to know Mr. Herbert Khoury!! Most only knew Tiny Tim. R.I.P. old friend 🇺🇸✝️🙏
I had the extreme pleasure of meeting Tiny, briefly after seeing him in concert in Branson Missouri on Feb. 3rd, 1993. My mother who attended the concert with me, had never been a fan of Tiny's, gained a new respect and love for him. I remember begging my parents to let me stay up late to watch Tiny Tim marry Miss Vicki on the Tonight show, but as I was only 7 years old my request was denied. As a fan of Mr. Tim, I want to thank you for this wonderful video. I encourage anyone reading this to buy his last CD that was released when he was alive. It is called "Girl". He was backed by a great band out of Denton, Texas named Brave Combo. There are 14 tracks on it total. Most of them Mr. Tim sang in his normal and only one or two in his famed falsetto. I miss him still.
@@emilyschulz907 I vaguely remember him from back when I was a kid. Recently however I was able to see a episode of a late 60's, early 70's TV show. Rowan and Martin's Laugh-In. They had Tiny Tim on a couple of their shows. Dick Martin either loved him or loved to joke about him, but Tim came on and was exactly as he was advertised. He knew he wasn't like anyone else and he was at ease with that. One thing I always heard however was he was always willing to help someone. He deserved better.

I had the opportunity to see Tiny Tim during a visit to Spooky World, billed as “America’s only haunted theme park” in Massachusetts during Halloween not long before he died. They had him performing on a small stage near the lines for admission where you would watch him for free while you waited to get it. Many were too young to know who he was, perhaps thinking he was not a celebrity but rather part of the “haunted attractions” at the amusement park. But others were thrilled to be entertained by the once iconic entertainer, who seemed to be just as happy as if he were performing to a sold out crowd. His falsetto may not have been what it once was but he took his talent seriously & seemed to genuinely enjoy being on stage nonetheless. It was an amazing venue with a haunted hayride thru an actual forest, several truly scary haunted houses, all the traditional greasy food & even a raffle to win a casket, which you could also pay to be photographed in! And then there were the celebrities. It was a very casual setting where you could meet & talk at length to a list of B movie actors that included Traci Lords, looking gorgeous as always & the legendary Linda Blair, who was incredibly sweet & charming. I suppose it is sad that unlike the paid attractions Tiny Tim was relegated to little more than window dressing for the hundreds of people standing in line waiting to hand over wads of cash for a few hours of fun but I was happy to have had the chance to see the entertainer who as Scott said once filled the seats in Vegas at the height of his fame. A very kind & respectful tribute Scott. Thanks for sharing & thanks to Tiny Tim for the simple joy he gave to so many back in the day. He may not have had a healthy heart but he certainly had a kind one. ✌🏻❤️🙏
My parents actually got to see him in Vegas, it's got to be 30 years ago. They said it was the best show they've ever seen in their lives, lovely man with an amazing talent.

Tiny was the real thing, unlike many so-called "celebrities" today. He'll be remembered in footnotes. Others will be forgotten. Watched his wedding on the Tonight Show, and saw him at an autograph signing at a shopping center north of Chicago. When one hand got tired of signing, he signed with his other hand.
The celebrities of this day are so hypocritical, shallow, couldn't care less about their fans when it comes down to it. As long as they are getting their over inflated paycheque. I really got the sense that Tiny Tim was very real🌷🌷🌷Down to Earth❤
I met him in downtown Des Moines of all places he visited the same coffee diner , if I was early enough I could buy his breakfast we never talked a ton but that was ok . He was a good man ! And a shining star . When he passed it was a very lonely breakfast shop .

I feel really bad for Tiny Tim. He seemed like such a gentle soul. A one out of a million man. He deserved so much more respect than he received. At least his memory will never die through his music and the kindness he spread to others while he was still on Earth.

This made me cry. What a legend. I loved Tiny Tim. I remember him getting married to his first wife and having his first daughter. Did I miss anything said about his daughter? I performed onstage with Tim in 1980 in California and while he was quirky and maybe a bit odd I can tell you without reservation that he was 100% exactly the same offstage as he was onstage. What you saw was exactly who he was. You cannot say that about any other celebrity performer. In the 1980s he was getting $5,000 per show (two shows per night back then too). Not bad for 1980. He was a gay man. Because of his religious background he was self loathing and deeply troubled about his gay side and that is a shame. Tim preferred (nearly) anonymous liaisons with men he met here and there. I witnessed that. It's true he did in fact carry around a brown paper bag all day everywhere he went that contained his beloved ukulele. It is not true he wore a tie and suspenders all day. He wore a collared dress shirt, usually white during the day. It is also true he wanted to be buried with his ukulele - and he was. I especially appreciate the words contained in his eulogy. They really captured all there was to know about the good, kind and innocent man that he was.
I must admit, I was never keen on Tiny Tim but after watching your video, I have a new found respect for him. No doubt the band leader has to carry his own conscious. 😔

Just caught this episode. Tiny Tim wow I remember my mother playing Tiptoe to me when I was a young child. I never forgot it it was so entertaining. 50 some years later just the other day I sat on the porch and played his video to my new puppy and we were both delighted. I hope Tiny Tim heard it going out into the universe. Some people are just unforgettable. Thanks for the memories Tiny Tim.
I was at the ukulele expo where he had the heart attack and fell on stage. I was working at a music store in Maine at the time, and a group of us went down to set up and run a small booth selling ukulele's and other stringed instruments. One of the guys brought a video camera. He recorded us all meeting and interacting with Tiny Tim. Then he filmed the show. When Tiny Tim went down, we all thought he was going to die. I am sad to say this really pleased the videographer. The whole way home all he talked about was how much money he was going to get from the tape. I never got a copy of at least my portion, meeting Tiny Tim. He had sold it to some tabloid and didn't bother making a copy. I don't know how much they gave him, but when I brought it up he seemed sour.

I do not think he was considered "strange" for his looks or act, but because people thought his kindness, strange. His kindness was "uncommon", and to those who believe it is un-befitting them, almost a direct threat to their being ....... RIP, Tiny ..........
He was definitely different but through your video and the coments here, everyone says how kind and nice he was. That in itself is an achievement coming from the world of celebrities. You never hear or read those words from today's bunch. At least he was authentic.
Tiny Tim died in my town of Minneapolis. He married a local gal and he was seen all over town. I have a couple stories about him. I remember in about 1970 I got his autograph, and he was so nice and drew a little caricature of himself. Later in life my friend, who was a musician, used to tell a story of how he ran into Tiny Tim at a local gas station. My friend used to play 1920s music, so he approached Tiny Tim. He was a genius about this decade of music and they talked at great length about the music. He talked so much that my friend had to tell him he had to go. When has a celebrity ever had a fan run away? I had a friend in the ER when they brought Tiny Tim in and she said never in their careers had they ever received a thank you note from anyone, but Tiny Tim's wife wrote a beautiful three page letter. I tell people that he is buried in Lakewood Cemetery in between Hubert Humphrey and Paul Wellstone - which is a lie though all three are buried there.
I am interested to know, I had heard that his last wife was his high school sweetheart. Is there any truth to that? Also I was on the bus going to Minnesota with Tiny Tim, and I went on to St. Cloud and always wondered where Tiny and the black guy with him ended up that day.
I love Tiny Tim. He was amazing and his awesome performances gave people to do anything - however strange and bizarre. His Comfort with his bizarreness was his superpower. 💜
I saw Tiny Tim perform once and got to talk to him. It was a wonderfully odd moment I will always remember. He was wearing a matching Mickey Mouse suit. I agree, he was very patient and interesting to talk to. I told him I had the "God Bless Tiny Tim" album and his response was, "I don't even have that one!" and asked me to come to the next show north of where we were so he could sign it. I regret not doing that.

The author actually knew him and met up with him in the local library. The Author was very patient with me as I asked about certain things. Said he was a really great person! We never think of what happens to the person, after the novelty wears off, but performers know all to well! I loved Tiny Tim. I was pretty young when my Mom watched him get married on the Johnny Carson show. He was abit odd but there was something so loving about him.
I remember watching him on Laugh-In when I was a kid. Now I live close to the Lakeland Cemetary. Maybe I'll see if I can visit his grave one day and say a prayer for him.

Tim never gave up his virtue to give us all a smile with his performances. So sad how he was treated at his last performance. If only the Band Leader knew Tim...but it is not about that ...it treating every person with love and respect.
Miss Sue, after 2 years of Tiny Tim’s death, packed up all his belongings and sent 40 boxes to his friend Ernie Clark who ran Tiny Tim website, he tried to sell some of his belongings, but later he died, not sure who got all of his stuff! Apparently there were a few of his diaries and many Bibles, his clothing, a couple ukuleles, etc.!
I met Tiny Tim in the coliseum book store (nyc)around 1986. A sweeter kinder man I have ever met. Chatted up about life and wedding on laugh in. I turned and said my goobye wishing him well. In the next aisle..I met John Houseman…wow what a day.

I saw Tim at an outdoor tulip festival and he was the most gracious man you'd hope to find. A whole day of playing 'Tiptoe' over and over and over again, posing for photos, signing autographs, crowded by fans, he was relaxed and smiling.

I met Tiny Tim several times in The New England area in the early to mid 90’s. He would always call me Mr. Richard whenever he saw me. When I saw him at Spooky World in Berlin,MA just after he did the Howard Stern New Year’s Eve pay per view he was on a career resurgence. I got to see him a couple times at a small club in Walpole,MA which was a very intimate setting. Tiny would give his best whether there were 5,000 or 50 people.
I brought several friends with me one night who were like the poster of this video,they were there to mock and jeer. However when you met this man and saw him perform you got a totally explosive show and after the show when he did his meet and greet you saw a very cordial and respectful human being who treated his fans with the utmost of respect and humility.
I was privileged to know Mr. Herbert Khoury!! Most only knew Tiny Tim.

I had the extreme pleasure of meeting Tiny, briefly after seeing him in concert in Branson Missouri on Feb. 3rd, 1993. He was signing autographs after the concert and i was standing there talking to him while he signed a picture for me! My mother who attended the concert with me, had never been a fan of Tiny's, gained a new respect and love for him. Also, he put on a most entertaining show that night, which is all Mr. Khaury wanted to do! God Bless Tiny Tim!
After watching this video, I have a new respect and admiration for Mr. Khoury. I remember begging my parents to let me stay up late to watch Tiny Tim marry Miss Vicki on the Tonight show, but as I was only 7 years old my request was denied. God bless him and his child, and widow. I'll remember him in my Rosary this evening. Thanks, as always, Scott for a great video!

@@emilyschulz907 I vaguely remember him from back when I was a kid. Recently however I was able to see a episode of a late 60's, early 70's TV show. Rowan and Martin's Laugh-In. They had Tiny Tim on a couple of their shows. Dick Martin either loved him or loved to joke about him, but Tim came on and was exactly as he was advertised. He knew he wasn't like anyone else and he was at ease with that. One thing I always heard however was he was always willing to help someone. He deserved better.
He was a kind man, w/ respect for everybody, yet was treated by some with such disrespect. Mean people they were. He deserved better than that. He was a kind man.
I had the opportunity to see Tiny Tim during a visit to Spooky World, billed as “America’s only haunted theme park” in Massachusetts during Halloween not long before he died. They had him performing on a small stage near the lines for admission where you would watch him for free while you waited to get it. Many were too young to know who he was, perhaps thinking he was not a celebrity but rather part of the “haunted attractions” at the amusement park. But others were thrilled to be entertained by the once iconic entertainer, who seemed to be just as happy as if he were performing to a sold out crowd. His falsetto may not have been what it once was but he took his talent seriously & seemed to genuinely enjoy being on stage nonetheless. It was an amazing venue with a haunted hayride thru an actual forest, several truly scary haunted houses, all the traditional greasy food & even a raffle to win a casket, which you could also pay to be photographed in! And then there were the celebrities. It was a very casual setting where you could meet & talk at length to a list of B movie actors that included Traci Lords, looking gorgeous as always & the legendary Linda Blair, who was incredibly sweet & charming. I suppose it is sad that unlike the paid attractions Tiny Tim was relegated to little more than window dressing for the hundreds of people standing in line waiting to hand over wads of cash for a few hours of fun but I was happy to have had the chance to see the entertainer who as Scott said once filled the seats in Vegas at the height of his fame. A very kind & respectful tribute Scott. Thanks for sharing & thanks to Tiny Tim for the simple joy he gave to so many back in the day. He may not have had a healthy heart but he certainly had a kind one. ✌🏻❤️🙏

I met him at St. Louis International Airport outside the office where I worked for TWA in about 1971.
My parents actually got to see him in Vegas, it's got to be 30 years ago. They said it was the best show they've ever seen in their lives, lovely man with an amazing talent.

Tiny was the real thing, unlike many so-called "celebrities" today. He'll be remembered in footnotes. Others will be forgotten. Watched his wedding on the Tonight Show, and saw him at an autograph signing at a shopping center north of Chicago. When one hand got tired of signing, he signed with his other hand.
The celebrities of this day are so hypocritical, shallow, couldn't care less about their fans when it comes down to it. As long as they are getting their over inflated paycheque. I really got the sense that Tiny Tim was very real🌷🌷🌷Down to Earth❤
I had the pleasure of meeting Tim in 1991 at the airport in Atlanta. He was so kind & accomodating & even took a photo with the group we were with.

I met him in downtown Des Moines of all places he visited the same coffee diner , if I was early enough I could buy his breakfast we never talked a ton but that was ok . He was a good man ! And a shining star . When he passed it was a very lonely breakfast shop .

I feel really bad for Tiny Tim. He seemed like such a gentle soul. A one out of a million man. He deserved so much more respect than he received. At least his memory will never die through his music and the kindness he spread to others while he was still on Earth.

It's amazing that Tiny Tim was able to keep his kind nature after being the butt of so many jokes over the years! This made me cry. What a legend. I loved Tiny Tim. I remember him getting married to his first wife and having his first daughter. Did I miss anything said about his daughter? Is she still alive etc. you got a great gift from that gentleman. I hope everything and anything you have collected about everyone is in a safe or better yet a bank vault.
I was just hearing Tiptoe Through the Tulips in my head, and RUclips brought your video to me. I loved Tiny Tim. I watched Laugh In with my parents, and the various talk shows he'd be on.

I performed onstage with Tim in 1980 in California and while he was quirky and maybe a bit odd I can tell you without reservation that he was 100% exactly the same offstage as he was onstage. What you saw was exactly who he was. You cannot say that about any other celebrity performer. In the 1980s he was getting $5,000 per show (two shows per night back then too). Not bad for 1980. He was a gay man. Because of his religious background he was self loathing and deeply troubled about his gay side and that is a shame. Tim preferred (nearly) anonymous liaisons with men he met here and there. I witnessed that. It's true he did in fact carry around a brown paper bag all day everywhere he went that contained his beloved ukulele. It is not true he wore a tie and suspenders all day. He wore a collared dress shirt, usually white during the day. It is also true he wanted to be buried with his ukulele - and he was. I especially appreciate the words contained in his eulogy. They really captured all there was to know about the good, kind and innocent man that he was.

Just caught this episode. Tiny Tim wow I remember my mother playing Tiptoe to me when I was a young child. I never forgot it it was so entertaining. 50 some years later just the other day I sat on the porch and played his video to my new puppy and we were both delighted. I hope Tiny Tim heard it going out into the universe. Some people are just unforgettable. Thanks for the memories Tiny Tim.

He was a great entertainer. What you saw is what you got. He was so gentle.
I was at the ukulele expo where he had the heart attack and fell on stage. I was working at a music store in Maine at the time, and a group of us went down to set up and run a small booth selling ukulele's and other stringed instruments. One of the guys brought a video camera. He recorded us all meeting and interacting with Tiny Tim. Then he filmed the show. When Tiny Tim went down, we all thought he was going to die. I am sad to say this really pleased the videographer. The whole way home all he talked about was how much money he was going to get from the tape. I never got a copy of at least my portion, meeting Tiny Tim. He had sold it to some tabloid and didn't bother making a copy. I don't know how much they gave him, but when I brought it up he seemed sour.
I watched that footage the other night. It's pretty dramatic. I can imagine the shock of it, well actually you can hear it in the crowd.
What I think of that band leader who tried to ruin his final appearance is not printable! R.I.P. Tiny!

He was definitely different but through your video and the coments here, everyone says how kind and nice he was. That in itself is an achievement coming from the world of celebrities. You never hear or read those words from today's bunch. At least he was authentic.
I'm in my mid 60s. My whole family loved Laugh in, and adored Tiny Tim. I never knew all this stuff about him, and appreciate your presentation.
Tiny Tim died in my town of Minneapolis. He married a local gal and he was seen all over town. I have a couple stories about him. I remember in about 1970 I got his autograph, and he was so nice and drew a little caricature of himself.
Later in life my friend, who was a musician, used to tell a story of how he ran into Tiny Tim at a local gas station. My friend used to play 1920s music, so he approached Tiny Tim. He was a genius about this decade of music and they talked at great length about the music. He talked so much that my friend had to tell him he had to go. When has a celebrity ever had a fan run away?
I had a friend in the ER when they brought Tiny Tim in and she said never in their careers had they ever received a thank you note from anyone, but Tiny Tim's wife wrote a beautiful three page letter.
I tell people that he is buried in Lakewood Cemetery in between Hubert Humphrey and Paul Wellstone - which is a lie though all three are buried there.

I am interested to know, I had heard that his last wife was his high school sweetheart. Is there any truth to that? Also I was on the bus going to Minnesota with Tiny Tim, and I went on to St. Cloud and always wondered where Tiny and the black guy with him ended up that day.
I love Tiny Tim. He was amazing and his awesome performances gave people to do anything - however strange and bizarre. His Comfort with his bizarreness was his superpower. 💜

I saw Tiny Tim perform once and got to talk to him. It was a wonderfully odd moment I will always remember. He was wearing a matching Mickey Mouse suit. I agree, he was very patient and interesting to talk to. I told him I had the "God Bless Tiny Tim" album and his response was, "I don't even have that one!" and asked me to come to the next show north of where we were so he could sign it. I regret not doing that.

The author actually knew him and met up with him in the local library. The Author was very patient with me as I asked about certain things. Said he was a really great person! We never think of what happens to the person, after the novelty wears off, but performers know all to well! Im proud of Tiny that he still knew the importance of human beings and treating people with kindness, love and respect!!!❤️❤️❤️ Thanks again and greetings from Illinois!

Miss Sue, after 2 years of Tiny Tim’s death, packed up all his belongings and sent 40 boxes to his friend Ernie Clark who ran Tiny Tim website, he tried to sell some of his belongings, but later he died, not sure who got all of his stuff! Apparently there were a few of his diaries and many Bibles, his clothing, a couple ukuleles, etc.!
@@ADDrecords I doubt that! His clothing were his tailor made special outfits! I’m sure collectors got them later!

I met Tiny Tim in the coliseum book store (nyc)around 1986. A sweeter kinder man I have ever met. Chatted up about life and wedding on laugh in. I turned and said my goobye wishing him well. In the next aisle..I met John Houseman…wow what a day.
It's amazing that so many of us grew up with Tiny Tim and yet we forgot about him until someone mentions him... he was a gentleman he was kind he's a little different he was a growing up friend.... rest in peace you made me laugh when I was young

I saw Tiny Tim with the circus in Sterling Illinois in the eighties. It was sad to see how bad he looked and working for a broke down circus 😢
I saw Tim at an outdoor tulip festival and he was the most gracious man you'd hope to find. A whole day of playing 'Tiptoe' over and over and over again, posing for photos, signing autographs, crowded by fans, he was relaxed and smiling.
