I have only just purchased a bottle and love this. I’d say it’s one of their better expressions. I really love the creamy texture that’s left in the mouth. It really allows you to enjoy every mouthful. Love the videos Kevin
I bought one at heathrow a week ago and just tried while watching your video. I enjoyed the spicy side with the small peat nose and also the long finish. Adding the water was interesting in that it retained much of its spicy finish, but gave a little more flavor. I will enjoy sharing with friends and also tasting again against the standard 10yr.
Always dig the guitar playing in these reviews and the outtakes. Shows how much work is needed to make a video. The only Glenmorangie I've really enjoyed is the Astair. I don't know if I'd buy this one if I was in an airport.
This wasn't my first choice of duty-free bottles, but I couldn't find the one I was looking for and this 1L bottle looked unique enough to make the investment. We have a trip to Italy upcoming, so I'll have another shot at duty-free next month.
I’m sitting in the airport and have just brought this on impulse. Was €60 down from €98. I’m usually a Smokey Isley guy but I do like the odd Glenmorangie so thought why not.
I picked up a bottle recently for 80 pounds at the airport (after 10% discount) and just tried it. I chose it because it was in my price range, I wanted something with an age statement and I hadn't tried it before. It's not my favourite of the Glenmorangie expressions I've tried so far (the Quinta Ruban and Lasanta) but maybe after opening the bottle oxidation will improve the taste.
Thank you for this review. I managed to get one in my hiking trip to highlands two weeks ago. Definitely interesting taste, but I hoped for more smoky taste. Still I really enjoy it!
My personal choice is never a Glenmorangie , smells so fabrication bottles. Tastewise is not satisfying for me. Thank you 🙏 to share and the video. Cheers 🥃
I'll always love the Quinta Ruban. It's one of the first bottles that I bought and wanted to keep buying. I love the Signet too, but that one is too pricey as a daily pour. Cheers!
I have never tasted a Glenmorangie that wasn't almost floral (and admittedly a bit light & sweet for my taste). Noting that you're finding more wood and spice than normal, until water. As expected, the word "peat" made it to the nose, but didn't survive your first taste. I have run into the nectar d'or, finding it similar to The Glenrothes "butterscotchy" expressions. I've had enough tastebuds burned away by good cigars that I'll be walking past it in duty free or elsewhere.
The Glenmorangie Quinta Ruban isn't at all floral for me - neither is the Signet. Because I drink a lot of Islay Scotch, the smoke on this dram wasn't much to talk about during the tasting. It was more of an offset to the sweetness than a dominant flavor.
I do have to step away from Islay drams for a couple of weeks to let my tasting tools reset. But The Tribute is just too middle ground for me. The peat smoke flavors just don't enhance this expression enough. Cheers!
I ended up giving my bottle away (it's so hard for me to throw out whisky). This was a huge disappointment for me too. In my opinion, Glenmorangie doesn't do peated or sherry-finished expressions well. Stick with Islay for smoke and any number of distillers who do sherry aging better. Cheers!

Thanks, Paul! I'm still spending time with it and trying to figure out how it fits in my rotation. Cheers!

i had the tribute and i liked it. it s just a softer peated whisky for a nice daily dram.
Thanks for sharing, Berny. I'm recording a review for another lightly peated dram today, the Clynelish 14. Cheers!

So you paid €60 for a 1L bottle of Glenmorangie 16. Nice deal! Let me know what you think of it, once you get around to pouring a dram. Cheers!
@@WhiskyRiffs Finally got round to having a dram or 2. Definitely a nice drink. I think it’s a tad over priced tho, doubt I’ll be buying it again.
@@adamcroft80 Thanks for the follow up, Adam.
@@kevinhoctor62 anytime mate. Keep up the good work. 👍🥃
Sounded OK, but not one I'm chasing down. Thanks for your thoughts. Cheers!
I'm giving it a little more quality time, but it's not a bottle that I'd repurchase at this point. Cheers!
Fun outtakes. I have not tried this one but sounds very interesting.
Thanks. The outtakes were as much fun when I was trying to get this episode recorded, but sometimes they are worth sharing. Cheers!
Haven't seen the 16 in my area yet. Will keep an eye out for it
It's a good dram, but I don't think I'd seek it out at this point. If you get to try a taste without owning a bottle, that might be enough. Cheers!
@@WhiskyRiffs fair enough 😉

Thanks for sharing. It sounds like we had a similar experience. Cheers!
@@WhiskyRiffs After having had the bottle opened for over a year I can report it tastes much smoother and more drinkable.

Definitely interesting taste, but I hoped for more smoky taste. Still I really enjoy it!
That's very similar to my reaction. It's so middle-of-the-road for the smoky notes, I'm not loving it like other peated Scotch.

Amazing for the price .
I'm glad you enjoy it. The price was good. Cheers!
I like it, but almost no peat. Think islay ruined the palet 😂

Hated it. I generally love anything GM or highlands in general, but this was a huge disappointment. We threw it out. Went back to the 18

@Whisky Riffs I've got the Genfiddich 23yrGrand Cru...big fan.
Good to know. I saw that in the local Paphos whisky shop and was wondering about it. Cheers!
