In the Old Testament, people would refer to themselves as a “son of God.” When Jesus called Himself a “Son of Man,” His name held more meaning, like He was calling Himself “God becoming the Son of Man.”

@ian_user unless you can show where anyone explicitly teaches what you just said, then yes, that would be the proof that it's unbiblical.

@@Anastasis1.4 It’s just what the term meant according to Jewish culture, and how it was translated from Greek. At least, that’s what I got from this video.

Ps John, what do you think of a Christian who believes as I do: Would appreciate your thoughts on what constitutes heresy:
I've come to the knowledge that Jesus is not God but the promised messiah - which means anointed. This seems to be the core of the tension between Jesus and leaders of his day - Is he truly the Christ?
Therefore, he is the Christ and the son of God - it's clear that this is what John wrote his gospel for which he says plainly - to convince us of this.
Anything more is extra-biblical in my sincere understanding: that we've overcomplicated the scripture according to catholic faith.

If I am getting it right, you suggest separating the persons between God and the messiah's identity and saying Christ is not necessarily God himself.
First, I think there's plenty of passages that show the prophecy of God in old testament that one day he himself will to become the one who saves his people,
verses that pop up in my mind could be
“ For thus says the Lord God: Behold, I, I myself will search for my sheep and will seek them out.Ezekiel 34:11
      links to Jesus says
I am the good shepherd. I know my own and my own know me, John 10:27
and this is only two of the many verses that you can clearly seeing God himself making a plan of “Word becomes flesh” And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth. John 1:14
For me it is even harder to say Jesus is not God or not God himself becomes the one who finds his sheeps.
And remember the death of Jesus is also because the Jews who hated him for claiming his identity as the sovereign one.

Saying Jesus is the Son of God meant Jesus is God Himself or equal to God and that’s what the Jews couldn’t fathom and that’s why they killed Him.. Accepting that He is the Son of God meant accepting that He’s equal to God

    • @HearGodsWord
      @HearGodsWord 9 месяцев назад +4

The tension was due to his divinity, which you deny

Paul writes in Romans 10:9 that confessing with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord” and believe in your heart He rose from the dead, you shall be saved.
Paul, who was given Revelation by God, believes Jesus is Lord, therefore I believe that Jesus Christ is God in the flesh, among other reason of course.
John did write his gospel to testify this, that makes sense, and also wrote it so one day people may read about Jesus.
The Catholic Church has indeed overcomplicated the Bible, and Christianity.
“Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.”
      ‭‭James‬ ‭(1‬:‭27‬)
That’s all God what’s you to do religiously, Catholicism exaggerates what you are supposed to do, and complicates it. Same goes with being saved, they say that baptism is essential, which it isn’t, remember the thief on the cross, who never was baptized, he just asked Jesus to remember, and Jesus told him that he would be in paradise that day.

If Jesus isn't God himself, his holiness is bound, because he is bound to the law as every man is. Yet Jesus was not bound to the law, because he could disregard the sabbath as though it mattered not at all. Very simple. God doesn't have to follow the rules he made for holiness because he is holy
