Tua & that class of wide receivers (Jeudy, D. Smith, Ruggs III, +) has already turned out to be a MONSTER recruiting haul, and they’re all still true sophomores- true freshmen when this game was played.
I’m just blown away how Smith ran the whole way watching the football and ran straight for the goal line catching that football just before he got there! That’s talent and many hours of practice and all those receivers do it! Amazing guys and we notice!
"Three receivers right, one to the left, straight back to pass, going deep, Throwing It Down the Far Side LINE...and it is CAAAAUUUUUGHHHT For a TOUCHDOWN! Devonte Smith! Wins the National Championship. Down the left sideline and wide open behind the defense. One true freshman to another!" I love Eli and the Spanish dude, but Sean McDonough broke this down and owns this call forever. RTR.
The Alabama announcers had every right to celebrate. The ga announcers thought they would be cute and make fun of Tua's name. I hope it left a bad taste in their mouth! Roll Tide!
I’m strictly Alabama Fan and A Tua fan but I really respect Kirby Smart and He really is an excellent coach! God Bless you and all your team players! They are blessed to have you!
That last play was pure genius. The TE Irv Smith on the left played a perfect decoy on the short coverage guys and occupied the safeties in order to get Devonta open. On another note, no other college football announcer has better diction than Eli Gold.
This is just about as textbook as you can get for a long pass. The ball was perfectly thrown and just drops into the receiver’s hands in stride. And we got his little brother coming up. RTR for life.
Josh Campbell can you imagine had IB2 had happened and that was the same ending? Their little tantrum on the late hit on Coker would have been a sane call.
Josh Campbell better than Barn?? 😆😆😆 Dude no one is worse than those 2 idiots trying to be even bigger one than that Fyffe character. No offense to the departed but he's the godfather of obnoxious play calling.
I was at the game, and you could probably tell it on TV as well, but the mood of Bama fans when Tua went into the game was unbelievable....most all of us had been saying all year to play him. Then when he started shredding Georgia, their mood changed palpably. Georgia played an awesome game, and they couldn't have a better coach than Smart (except maybe Saban). Bama's offense looked completely different with him in there.
And please remember that Tua did NOT make all the good throws he could have when the receivers were open, nor did the receivers catch all his catchable throws. So Bama's offense COULD have done even better if the new quarterback and his wide-outs were sharper.
Ive been an Alabama fan all my life , this beautiful throw by Tua and a great catch by Devonta ..2 True Freshman was one for the ages,..I live out of the south now and didnt see many tide games this year,, I was pretty amazed at just how many guys on Alabama 2017 team ..that werent starters last year,..Nick Saban builds champions
despite Tua's lackluster performance in this year's match vs Clemson, I still cannot believe this game right here. For all the naysayers that say He folds under pressure... EAT THIS PERFORMANCE RIGHT HERE!!! DAMN. true freshman too
0:47 This was by far my favorite call by Eli! I can't recall a time when I ever heard him this excited! Plus, if you listen closely you can actually hear everyone in the announcer's booth high fiving each other and celebrating! The atmosphere was so palpable in that moment! ☺
I would have loved to have Keith Jackson around to call a game like this! I can hear him now..."Well folks, Bama has done it again"... here's a "Whoa Nellie" to you...RIP Keith Jackson!
The best moment of this video for me, other than the TD, of course, was the look of anguish and disgust that Finebaum tried to conceal when Alabama won.
What a fitting cap to Devonta Smith's Bama career in 2020 winning the Heisman, Biletnikoff, National Title.and obliterating every SEC/Bama/National receiving record
Even though Tua is a small quarter back, growing up he must have watched a Dan Marino game or highlight at some point. I have never seen a passing quick release and pocket presence like that since the days of Dan Marino. This kid is THAT GOOD of a passer. He's like Russell Wilson with the quick release of Dan Marino. Tua may get one or 2 more National Titles under his belt if he plays a full season like that game. Super high football X's and O's football IQ . He was looking off the safeties like an experience NFL quarterback. This kid is the real deal !
Adam he's also like A.J.McCarron who was a hell of a passer and won 3 National Championships with Alabama. One as a backup QB and two as the starter!!!;
One of these days this play is gonna get old. But today -- almost three months afterward -- is NOT that day! Alabama wins!!! Alabama wins!!! Tua to DeVonta!!! Alabama wins!!! Glory to the National Champions!!! Alabama wiiiiiinnnnssss!!!!!!!!! :-D
Nope, it will never get old. Remember Teague stripping the ball from that Miami receiver? Van Tiffin's kick? Goal line stand against Penn State? The classics never get old, only better.
November 9, 2019 - Still not old. Also, Jeff is right. I still watch George Teague stripping the ball from Lamar Thomas and get chill bumps. Of course that also has to do with the fact that leading up to that game all Miami did was run their mouths about how fast Thomas was and that no player can outrun him. George Teague disagrees.
I like when Saban said they ran Seattle .That last play was amazing throw. Ii can hear from all over the world when that ball was flying up in the air. Lol.
In the COACH"S ROOM, Mike Gundy of OSU never even blinked. It was like "I'm watching some game with two teams that are where I'll never be and I was so close that year." In 2011, Okla State was undefeated, ranked #2 after LSU beat Alabama 9-6 in Tuscaloosa and they beat Kan State 52-45 in Stillwater on Nov 5th then beat Texas Tech 66-6 the next week. But they lost at Iowa State 37-31 in 2OT's on a Friday Night ESPN game on Nov 18th and ended up in the Fiesta at #3 where they beat #4 Stanford. But only Alabama could win the college football national title game in overtime with a walkoff score. This was super sweet, #17. ROLL TIDE ROLL ONE MORE TIME.
Remember tuas first series on a third and long he ran the ball and was surrounded by 3 or 4 dogs and shouldve been down short of the first down, then he spun left and got behind a couple of tide players who were aware enough to keep the play going.?yeah that was the play that got the crimson Rollin
I watched this play, over and over, all winter long. It always makes me smile.
Love the look on Finebaum's face and the coaches too! They were amazed and jealous as hell! That was my favorite part of the video! ROLL TIDE ROLL!!!
I was at the game... One of the sweetest moments ever! Watched it 100 times since. Never gets old. Roll Tide Forever!
It never gets old...and besides Eli Gold's take on it the Georgia radio guy saying "oh my God Alabama has won it"😂😂
Best finish to a national championship game ever.
I agree, but the 1979 (1978 season) Sugar Bowl vs Penn State goal line stand is right there with this ending! RTR for life ...

not a bad toss at all
After a bad sack. Gets up and slings it!!!
I here joe Brady I’m telling them this man name is tua Montana
Shawn McDonough had the best reaction. I could listen to him say "CAUUUUGHT" all day long. One of the greatest plays in sports history.
Saban coming off the sidelines after that catch was my favorite moment ever. Going from pissed (previous play) to elated in about five seconds.
One of the best plays and emotionally charged moments in college football history!
I would be ashamed to admit the number of times I’ve watched this. Greatest game ever IMO. RTR!
I'm not ashamed....100's
You go girl. 8-)
Ken Stabler was smiling in football heaven during this play.
“Alabama Wins”, in any language, is something I LOVE to hear!
Roll Tide!
I watch this whenever I'm having a bad day, and my troubles vanish. RTR...
Freshman to freshman takeover. I never get tired of watching this ending or the game.
I’m just blown away how Smith ran the whole way watching the football and ran straight for the goal line catching that football just before he got there! That’s talent and many hours of practice and all those receivers do it! Amazing guys and we notice!
I watch it at least once a week!! Greatest play ever in college football!

Tua got great blockers on that final shot and when he threw that ball they stopped turned and watched it right into Smitty’s hands! Awesome shot!
I could watch this over and over
I love the Georgia announcers the best. Lol
OMG ALABAMA HAS WON IT! LOL
Best camera angle to
"The dawgz are heartbroken" hahaha
Georgia just can't win the big game. Good program but everybody knew Bama was going 2 win...js
And that was after they had intentionally mangled Tua's last name making fun of it. It was a case of instant Karma.
How he played that safety was beautiful! The throw and catch in stride even more beautiful

Gundy’s non-reaction is priceless - still as a statue.
Swear best reaction buy the funds ever just nun at all
He looks like he is made of wax.
Sorry for late reply. Gundy's reaction is that of a good football coach that just knows he's not going to win at that level. Lol.
Smith made it look simple, I knew he was a great player!
OSU coach at the end just angry and not phased 😂
But this is one of Chris Fowlers best calls
Georgia broadcast crew kept it real and professional. Hat's off to them.
Unlike the previous play (the sack) when they clowned it up by mocking/making fun of Tua's name. It all worked out. It always does. Roll Tide.
Also---"OMG, Alabama's won it!" ---That didn't sound too professional to me. It sounded personal.
@@cothren6504 i know its been two years but does alabama announcers flipping their shit sound professional?
The Alabama announcers had every right to celebrate. The ga announcers thought they would be cute and make fun of Tua's name. I hope it left a bad taste in their mouth! Roll Tide!
Tua looking off that safety was a thing of beauty! You can really see it from the rear camera view...
Gundy lack of emotion shows the genuine hate he has for Bama. He was certainly rooting for UGA. #RollTide
1:05 you can really see just how hard he looked that safety off. Then to quickly turn your head and throw an absolute rope is just pure talent/skill.
I love to listen to Eli Gold & he is great @ his job!
DeVonta Smith what a career from beginning to end.
Watching this 3 years later is still great and now seeing Devonta getting the 2020 Heisman makes it even better RTR 🐘🌊

You don't have much experience with Georgia radio then.
It was like a 10 yard pass as far as the time it took from Tua to devonte's hand. 50 yard rope that took like two seconds. Amazing pass for any QB.
Yet I keep hearing many fools questioning Tua’s arm strength. This play is just one of many that completely destroys that notion.
No matter how many times I see this, it never gets old. Roll Tide!
