Yoooo! I was laughing throughout the hole video until it got sad lol. I can totally relate to the winter depression and now we got to deal with the virus situation too so... Not easy to stay positive. All I can say is that it helps me to keep me busy with anything. Even stuff I don't like. Just to not give myself the chance to feel shitty. But sometimes you can't escape it. RUclips videos can make this worse or better depending who you watch though. So, back to the video: Totally agree with the film loading issue. One good reason why I will never sell my CLE. Can't wait to see some M6 user reactions here haha.

I lived in Michigan for four years and the only reason I didn't have serious seasonal affective disorder or just depression is that I was waaay too busy to notice. And social media was not around back then to bum me out.
Now, I am thankful everyday for the California sun that I grew up in and currently live under. Even during the winter there will be days bright and warm days to enjoy... well, if it wasn't for the pandemic.
Always enjoy your vids. As others have stated. Try to be busy. Sleep well. Go out for walks when you can. Inactivity always makes moods worse.

I think it’s totally valid to feel down and depressed, I having gone through a couple years of it know it quite well, make sure you get nice deep sleep, eat well, spend times with the ones you love and talk to a therapist

Thank you, now I will forever have the urge to eat tic tacs every time I focus and use the base plate to put my shoes on.
And seriously, thanks for being honest and vulnerable on here - I totally feel you. winter in combination with the pandemic is even worse than the loading system of the M6. (And the enjoyment of course is mutual, I wait patiently for every new video of yours!)

Same thing happened to me once. A whole roll of "perfectly composed frames" lost. Now I always double check if the rewind knob is turning. Though I'll have to admit that actually it's really easy to load a Leica. Just takes some time to get used to and you have to trust your Leica, it can smell if you're afraid and it will punish you.

Also, yeah I had an leica MDa, same loading system (rapid) and i loaded it in a few different ways recommended to me....and 2-3 times....the film popped out, right off the reel....and no was I bummed a few frames in, halfway through when I noticed the film wasn't catching. At least with the m3 and even the old barnacks, the reel you take out to feed the leader into a tiny bit, that locks it in, and guarantees no slipping, really nice. And yeah, the Canon p rules. Swingin door loading, preeetttyyy cool.

I would suggest trying an later m3. the m3 is on another level compaired to the m6. The M3 rangefinder patch is huge compared to the m6ttl .85 that I have. The m3 also does not have the quick load system that the m4-mp cameras have. I have miss loaded my m6ttl a few times. but I have never done that with my m3 or the m2. those people say the spool on the m3/m2 is fiddly Id say its no less fiddly than any other camera that the back opens! Keep taking photos! your work looks awesome! thanks for sharing

There are a lot of RUclipsrs who try very hard to be funny, and they bomb every time. You, my good man, are a natural comedian. Haven't been this entertained in a while. Thank you for sharing. Question: when you originally purchased your Canon P, did it need any calibrating? I've heard the rangefinder can be knocked out of alignment quite easily, and the viewfinder may need adjustment depending on your vision. I'm not 20/20. I'm assuming you are. I'm not sure if this makes sense to you. I'm new to RFs, so any advice from you (or anyone watching this video) about the Canon P would be greatly appreciated. Cheers! 😉

I completely relate to your winter sadness / depression. We used to live in Iowa and Minnesota and good lord the winters almost killed me. Grey and slushy and looooong. We now live in the mountains and get way more snow, but we get SUN and blue skies in between winter storms and life is worth living again. Have you tried one of those lights for people with SAD (seasonal affective disorder)? Might be worth a look. And I’m of course now diving into Grainydays and Camera Conspiracy, so thanks for that!

Thank you for the lovely video especially for the comparison with the Grainydayz - it was so funny to see some similarities in intonation and in the type of jokes you're both running. About the first and even second roll - as you some of the influences said - you have to be experienced with the gear you use. And a few rolls is a too small number to decide something or to make a review like half of the RUclipsrs already do. But they are not guilty, the watchers are too I don't want to use the word "stupid" but probably most of people who ready to get some decision about something specific by the only one time use, they are :-) So my opinion - if you still have this camera (i don't use the name of it, it may be also Holga - the most simple, but still need some skills, understanding, and habit) just use it some month-two-three, I mean use - the only one camera and after this period I will happy to hear from you the "review" or just the decision about. Btw, because of your channels, I'm looking for Canon P for myself on eBay. Hope to find something, not many in good condition and for a nice price, but sure I will find one.

I think Leica stuck with the bottom loader out of pride and an appeal to people’s pretentiousness, i.e., they were too proud to be accused of copying Canon, and they probably thought that snobby folk could be fooled into believing that only peasants load film the common sense way. The fact is, that bottom-loading system may have been fine at a time when they were figuring things out, but it was just a plain stupid decision to have kept it.

  • @kalenderquantentunnel9411

Leicas are actually easy to load if you just follow the fine manual. Yes, face it, 100 % your own fault! And I'm saying this to myself while standing in front of mirror as I have been there too with my first Leica. Just stop making assumptions of how it should work, forget what you are doing with a swing-open-back camera and follow the manual and it's easier, faster and more elegant to load than any other system. I also enjoy a Canon VT and my SLRs but not because of the loading.
