@@CelesteTheeDragonLady lol love that attitude! I’m finally getting there. I was more focused on length but that’s out the window now. My hair is almost mid back and I get excited knowing it’s trim time 😊
Thank you Amber. I love your easy, laid back, no fuss way of dealing with your hair. Maintaining natural hair doesnt have to be so difficult. You have helped me learn to really love my hair. Love yourself is the key to any journey.
I know folks lose their minds seeing a thorough trim yet wonder why their hair can't accumulate any length. Keeping healthy and thick ends is a must unless you just want a single strand of long hair to claim.
Since you are pleased with your own results continue to trim it yourself. If you go to a salon or a hair stylist he or she will not trim your hair they will cut it OFF! They love to cut for some reason. It has been many years since I went to a shop for any type of hair...care, however thinking back to my relaxer days that I do remember. When I would request a trim or for them to clip my ends, they would go crazy with the clippers. Continue to do it yourself. You are doing a very good job.
Here I am during the Coronavirus in 2020 searching for self trimming videos and came across this one. I did it exactly how you instructed ot in the video and loved how I got my coils back! I've gotten several compliments on my curls. By the way-it was my first time EVER cutting my own hair and LOVED the results so thank you!!!
This is an awesome video. Very helpful. The hassle of blow drying, straightening, etc usually makes me stay away from trimming. Your method made me want to go trim my hair just to try it lol. Thank you. Your hair is gorgeous and inspiring.
Beautiful video!!!!Word of advice whenever you use scissors you MUST use the one specifically designed for hair. What will happen in return is that you cause whatever split ends that you thought you cut off to go further up your hair strand, causing more harm than good. Invest in yourself and your tresses by getting better shears.Love the video and your personality keep the videos coming!
Yo I have long curly hair (not "natural" tho, the Scottish redhead kind; think of the princess from Brave 😂) and ever since I was little I would ask for just a trim and without fail get like half my length cut off. Hairdressers hate when I have long hair for some reason 🤷♀️ so because of that, I would have so much hesitance towards getting my hair trimmed that I would go as far as 6 months at a time without having anything done to it, basically only getting it trimmed before special occasions so that I didn't have ratty hair for homecoming or something. When I tell you that right before Covid happened I already was stretching it, and then also spent the entire pandemic so far still not getting it trimmed 😶 I haven't done it in YEARS. It makes me a bit sad to know that I'll probably have to cut a lot off just to get rid of all the split ends and breakage, but I'm starting to learn the importance of trimming and how it actually makes your hair grow more over time. And do-it-yourself videos like these are giving me more confidence that I can cut my hair in a way that I actually like and ONLY cut off what I need to 😁
I’m going to use this technique to trim my daughters natural hair. Her hair is touching the top of her butt and she is only 9. I tried taking her to a salon but they insisted on straightening it to trim it
Before u cut your hair did u experience some breakage? Do u get any type of breakage every time u wash your hair just as I tend to get a bit of breakage every wash day? Is it normal?
Amy.Cecelia x you shouldn't have breakage every wash day. Your protein/moisture balance is off. Shedding is normal but if you have breakage you need to analyze what is lacking
lala foster ah thank you I'll try a protein treatment I think that's the reason my hairs breaking. And it's it normal to have incomplete splits ends ( holes within the hair shaft that haven't fully split to make a split end)
normally incomplete splits ends is often because , your products are too harsh, using too much heat or rough manipulation with tools, fingers. ( i have naturally long nails so when I shampoo i use gloves, before that i literally cut my hair just with my nails)
At one point I had every kind of split. You should dust your ends more often and be careful with the hair tools you use. Also stay away from heat if you can. Do a really good trim to get your thickness together, protein, and mini trims as needed. When I did that my hair grew to waist length in no time
This is a good method for at home maintenance if you wear your hair curly all the time. This will keep the hair with an overall even length but without blunt ends when it is untwisted. It just gives the hair movement since the twist will do something similar to point cutting at the ends but without being harsh. The key is to keep the cutting amount consistent on all twists. Face framing tends to not retain as much length giving the illusion the front hair grows slower (which it doesnt), so I would trim a little less on the face framing areas of my hair. Yes I am a pro.
I find it very cool and intriguing that you are Ghanaian and Belgian. At first for some reason I thought you were maybe Pacific Islander and African American, but the accent was throwing me off a little. Does the Ghanaian come from your mom, or from your dad? You have beautiful eyes, by the way!
i'm literally obsessed with cutting my hair, i love trimming those nasty dry dead ends and seeing how my curls flourish! so fresh and niiiice
I am also scissor-happy! As soon as my brushes or.combs be snagging i be like "Oh hell no!!" I learned my lesson about keeping dead ends

Don't make me laugh 😹😹😹
Lol, not a single strand!!!! Lololololol
U made me feel confident enough to trim my hair by myself
Hola Renèe our m
I like her accent 😻
Thank you for this video! I try to avoid the salon bc they always cut way too much off!! 😩
So true 😩
Iyda Michael facts!
Me too
They love to cut plus it's expensive it annoys me they charge £15 and all they do takes about 2 mins to cut my hair straight across
Right on time! I have my shears out now!! Yes we can trim ourselves & save some money!! Plus we have control over "how much" is trimmed!

I really love your hair!
Amber, your hair is always gorgeous!!!!!

So helpful, thank you!
You are so pretty
Beautiful trim.
Wow that was a lot of hair that you cut. Do you think you would had cut as much if it was dry? Either way your hair looked very pretty.

+Eniad K great advice 😀
Thank you it is helpful video I will try it😙😍😍😍
New sub today! Where have you been all my life! So excited to have crossed paths with you!
You did a beautiful job Amber. Awesome that you can do this on your own. When was the last time you did a trim?

+Swtsade J No problem!😘
Looks great
Awesome vid. :D
Its better to trim your own hair because the salons be taking too much off
So thick and pretty
How often do u change sissors?
Anyone else notice how beautiful her teeth are?
So helpful!!
What kind of brush did you in this video?
Thanks this vedio very helpfull!
Omg my hair isn’t this long but I swear we cut off the same amount and I noticed a difference in my ends
Can any licensed cosmetologist weight in if this is a good method

For you not trimming your hair for 9 10 months, you didn't cut too much. That's great.
I love your videos
Thanks
I washed mine today it was sooo thick then it went thin....I didn't cut all the thin Ness but I should have
Curly hair is uneven to begin with
I trimmed my 4c hair for the first time and it was a FAIL....but not a complete fail abd I still didn't get all of it either 😅😓😊🙃
It is more work with thicker hair. So it cost more. Time is money.
Good job 👏🏾
Amber, when is the last time you trimmed honey? 😀
They're so fresh and Juicy! Yummy twists!
Very beautiful woman. Sounds as if you have an accent.
Wait isn’t cutting on wet hair bad bc the curls curl back up and ya hair ain’t even?
It's a lot of work doing long thick hair. Salons are entitled to more money. And I never go to stylists but understand why they charge more.
I find it very cool and intriguing that you are Ghanaian and Belgian. At first for some reason I thought you were maybe Pacific Islander and African American, but the accent was throwing me off a little. Does the Ghanaian come from your mom, or from your dad? You have beautiful eyes, by the way!
If I trim my hair it’s gonna look like a dam mullet 😂😂😂
juicie!!!!!!!!!!!
I cut my hair the same way
No hair sheers?
Ok your denman is epic! Lol
My hair was still wet from shampooing so I paused this video to trim my ends. Good idea.
+Tokyotart 💪🏽🙌🏾
You cut 2-3inches. That's a lot. That's more than a trim.
Addy it’s a lot but it still counts as a trim bc she didn’t cut off actual length, she trimmed the ends that were unhealthy
Gurl dat alot of hair you cut off !
Lol alot
How much hair you cut off
Alot LoL 😂😜🤗 🤗
I went to the Dominicans and they didn’t trim they gave me a whole gd cut ☠️
pfffffffffff I need a cut haha! Kga uw techniek eens proberen
Hahaha feel you girl zeker es proberen! het helpt écht!
You need really good hair hair scissors 😊
Wow!!that is a lot of hair you cutting,
I wouldn’t do that to my hair. If it works for you 👍
That was not a trim. That was a cut. Anything 2 inches and higher is a cut.
Beautydivine well she dis say hadn't trimmed it in 9 month's maybe she needed more than two inches off
All necessary.
That is a trim for her. She is just taking off the ends. Everyone's trim is not going ro look the same.
Thank you. Your hair is gorgeous. I like the way you just cut it section by section.
