- The Caracal Eco Trail is a 4x4 trail that crosses the Namaqua National Park in South Africa, following the coast along soft sand roads. Nicole and I enter the park and start our journey North, finishing up at Boulder Bay.
Thank you. Interesting!
Great footage Matt & Nicole. Beautiful country we have ❤
Amazing thanks! Wish you could stay longer at a place…
Excellent Matt, we are farming just outside Kleinsee…….. quite a bit North from where you are. I love how remote this area is!!!!! Major cray fish fishing in this area
Neels I'm planning a solo trip in April next year, where about are you maybe we can meet up.
Houthoop?
Proud moment for me. Nama from southern Namibia, from a small village called Maltahohe. Reside in Windhoek. Didn't know you had a second channel as cool as Air Arms SA. Hou aan maat
This series has been so enjoyable. Thank you so much for taking us along.BTW- I have seen that movie. We got a huge kick out of that little bushman running throughout the entire film.
Haha, its such a great movie!
@@mattdubber It is. That was over 30 years ago that we watched it (I'm in the USA). My brother found it at a video rental store and thought it looked like it would be good, so he asked my then wife and I to come over and watch it with him and his wife and kids. I still chuckle every time I think back on it and was surprised to hear you mention it. It brought back those memories, so thanks for that.
Inspiring. I did the first half of the Namaqua from Pella to Violsdrift over 4 days in my freelander.. also bottomed out in soft sand once.. now tempted to push on and complete it.. looked epic. Thanks Matt.
Did that trip recently too - Its amazing! Video coming soon!
Thanks again for sharing your adventures with those of us on the other side of the globe. Merry Christmas. Jess
I just discovered your channel, and am really enjoying it. Overlanding the west coast during the flower season - epic! Well done!
Hi Matt, I’m in the U.K. driving the west coast starting March next year, loveing your films ,just wondering is that a special navigation app on your phone?
WOWWWWWWWWW AMAZING LANDSCAPE 🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇
Great series! Side note, I carry an old axle. You can pound it in or dig a trench for it. Makes a nice anchor to winch yourself out. I've tested it too many times 😅
Dude, what an awesome series I just watched. Kudos you you and Nicole for braving it alone, and sharing with us. I’m now a follower. Ps, I also just watched your Garden Route video. Also impressive. Could have been a bit longer 😊
Great video's Matt! Enjoying your channel tremendously. Funny how you've made watching familiar destinations interesting to watch on your channel. Did that route in 2011 and man that sand is soft! Poeier meneer! Poeier! Lovely drive and keeps you focused on keeping momentum.
Awesome man.
So, after the Namaqua Eco 4x4 trail, we made our way to Hondeklipbaai where we started the West-Coast coastal trail with Jeep Wrangler Rubicon and Challenger Wilderness 310 trailer with TTT.
We were running all 6 tyres at 1.5 bar all the way to Namakwa Sands mine and did not get stuck once. It could be that 6 wheels provides better floatation and spread of weight in the sand compared to a fully loaded 4x4 only with of course only 4 wheels. Then again, the Jeep has 3 lockers, that I've used in really thick sand. So maybe that was the magic, not sure.
When not in low range, I always make sure to disable traction control completely.
One thing for sure is that floatation is more important than 4x4 in sand, hence beach buggies being only 2WD.
Matt what an episode epic
I camp at that same spot few years back, gonna be my next spot next year.
Lovely part of the world , good vid , enjoyed :)
Excellent, again 👏
Beautiful location.
Nice video Matt; subscribed! You obviously saw Maclean’s beacon (your lunch spot)? Quite an interesting bit of history goes with it!
That got autocorrected. Should be Maclear
Still busy with the series. What was the issue with the fridge?
what navigation software are you using on your phone?
How much fuel do you carry on board ? Great content
160 liters in a long range tank.
@@mattdubber Are OK mate that would explain it.. happy Christmas 🎄
hi, please tell me where you bought a camera mount for an optical sight, can you give a name or a link to the product?
Was that stuck VW a 4motion?
Kilass 100+
Did YOU SEE ANY pirates ?
You have covered a lot of mileage, how do manage the fuel consumption
160L tank and Diesel engine means I can get over 1000km per fill.
The mines are essential for our modern lifestyle, medical technologies, etc. They also have a right to exist. There also are no alternative solutions. And they spend much of their very hard earned income on rehabilitation. Outsiders won't understand; then please spare us the comments. It sours an otherwise great video. Can YOU make a living here? What happened to the veld where your home is today? Didn't your Legend emit exhaust emissions in a prime nature reserve ...??
