Neutron needs a setting to always leave the exciter off with the ai automation. I tried to love trash, but it almost always sound bad, such a thin, tinny, fizzy superdigital distortion...
I have a much better tip. DON'T USE ANY PLUGINS FOR RECORDING GUITARS. Use real guitars with real amps with real pedal effects mic'ed to real cabs. The real thing sounds much better, more natural and teaches you how to get your guitar tones and effects right before you start recording. Also teaches you how to best record guitar and how to reproduce all the tones you want in a live setting.
distortion done right is great, thats why I use decapitator on every track
