The next generation of Xbox is possibly going to play both console and Steam games while on the comforter of your couch that is something I wanted consoles to do for a long time this is a risk but it's a possible good risk considering that the rumors of Microsoft buying steam or probably not true but possibly Microsoft is planning to buy shares from Steam so they can still make a profit off of having Steam on their Xbox.
Xbox players being able to access 32,000 games on Steam on the Next XBOX would be fantastic let's just be honest who wouldn't want to play Total War on the comforter of their couch playing on an Xbox this is something that I don't even think PlayStation would even allow Steam on their platform so this is just opening up a new frontier for Xbox to exploit that PlayStation would less likely want to exploit and I have to say this is a win for gamers. Having access to steam much easier would also give steam a win how to increase its player count but also giving Xbox gamers more access to games on both console and PC.
If the next Xbox lets me play my huge Steam library on my big HDTV and the PS6 doesn’t, that’s a massive win for Xbox!!!
As a Mac user, it would be lovely with a Xbox console that also can play Steam games (where I have built my gaming library most my life over the years since HL2 launched) so I can work on my Mac and play on the Xbox with more than just the Xbox games!

Steam on Xbox consoles make sense if Microsoft get a cut of the sales of Steam Games, price the console to make a profit, or have some other deal with Valve.
The reason a platform holder can subsidize the cost of a console is because they have a storefront where they make back that money by taking a cut of the sales. If Steam is on the Xbox console there is a strong reason to switch to Steam and stop buying games via the Xbox storefront.
Honesty they should definitely price for profit, get a cut of Steam games sold on the platform and in return, allow Steam a small cut to sell Game Pass through it. They'd make more and they could the make sure the PC versions of entitlements are Steam Entitlements (well just proper .exes at least). Oh and of course if they buy an Xbox published game in Steam, it should default to Xbox's store when on the device and when not, Xbox get a higher cut. Just sensible profit sharing to open the platform and co-advertise together.
Either the steam games will run on cloud (geforce now) or the games would have to be certified (like steam deck certified) and then they could be played on xbox natively.
Only Microsoft store in future on Xcloud never get Steam store in Xcloud?

It seems Microsoft trying to be clever. By trying to make a pc that looks like a gaming console. It be categorize as a pc, which may lead to playing Sony games.
My friends always trying to get me to game on PC but this new Xbox will be the closest thing to gaming on PC
So Xbox is becoming the failed steam console. The heads at Xbox absolutely have no faith in the Xbox console. Its just sad watching them completely fail while putting their games everywhere. They need to just say their fully 3rd party at this point. No more competition, let the playstation monopoly continue.

I'm tired of hearing about players concerns with company money. All that matters is if you are playing the games made available to you.
as long as i can access my xbox library on the handheld then ill buy it. If it has windows and pc architecture then i wont buy it.
I’m all for this, having options can only be a good thing for me. If the next Xbox is underpowered then maybe ASUS or whoever has more powerful option. If neither manufacturer meets my expectations then I can upgrade my PC/do a new build.

TLDR: Microsoft announces how they will be exiting the hardware businesses by passing on the buck to 3rd party hardware sources. (Think Steam Machine.)

Anyone who buys another Xbox after reading on the Series X sales box "4K 120FPS", and doesn't realize the fact that the vast majority of newer games will never even see updates for even 4K 60 FPS, deserves every bit of disappointment that is inevitably going to take place when the next "Xbox" ends with nothing but a Series X without a disc drive that barely keeps up with the Steamdeck.

How can you call it next generation series S when by definition the specs aren't next definition? Yes it plays next generation games at last generation specs.

The next generation Xbox is pretty much irrelevant due to everything being launched day 1 on the computer as well plus Xbox puts out like 2 games a year. This is if you even care about either of the games or they're functional at release. The last 2 generations of Xbox have been more or less useless, this is why there's literally 5 times as many PS5s sold compared to XBOXs. Microsoft soft sells good systems with minimal game support. I used to be a huge Xbox guy then they left me high and dry.
