Yes, a demonstration of the most intricate siege engine of them all ... the ladder.

Very interesting. The details here are fascinating as a siege ladder is not a builders ladder.

I thought ladders were not safe at all or a stupid tactic until that string and metal part at the end.

I never heard of that metal thing but even if you can't a nice whole in the wall which I assume might have been fairly common it wouldn't be easy to tip it over. While you set up the you basically have a bunch of guys just standing there with nothing to do. Give them some rope that's fixed to the upper part of the ladder that they can hang onto so in the first second the ladder will have a bunch of guys hanging onto it and 30 seconds later those guys will be on top of the ladder pushing it down. Unless you put the ladder really steep that should be quite impossible to push away.

Once they were over the wall how would they go down the other side?

    • @charlierenard1221

The wall is usually a platform for the defenders, so they typically have stairs on the inside that allow them to get up and man the battlements.

Whilst you’re being pelleted by enemy arrows, I’d imagine anything can become quite complex
