    That cork screw can be used as a pole saw. Just cut a branch as long as you need fold out the saw blade and screw the knife into the pole and lash with cordage👍

    If i remember correctly Ruike is the knife manufacturer form the chinese Flashlight brand Fenix. Ruike manufacturers the Böker Plus brand form Böker. The Böker Plus are designt in germany and manufactured by Ruike in china. A few years ago Ruike started with the same know how to establish their own house brand. Both Böker Plus and Ruike are affordable and very good knives. Ruike is a bit more beefer and with that a bit more sturdy. And if i'm not mistaken, locking knives are also mostly forbidden in china, regarding the regulations they could be very interesting for British citizens. I live in germany and have only heard good things about Ruike pocket knives, they are good alternativ to the Victorinox 111 and Rangergrip versions.

    Believe, on Swiss Army knife saw blades, the saw is thicker at the teeth than the spine, this helps prevent the saw from getting stuck as easily, does the Ruike knife have the same feature, or is the saw blade the same thickness at the top, as it is the bottom?

    Much as I like SAKs and own several, I prefer the shape of the blade on my Boker Tech tool, and it looks identical to this Ruike, there must be some collaboration. It looks really a really decent knife, I might give Ruike a try. Great review by they way.

      @simonh6371 2 года назад +1

      That's a great option if you're allowed to carry it (we're not in the UK as the blade locks). It's been issued to the German Army (with nylon scales and federal eagle embossed) since 2004, taking over from the GAK he shows here. The Swiss Army have had it on issue since 2008, it took over from the old Soldier which is basically a Pionner.

    I love my Victorinox SAK’s, I collect them and have never had a problem with them. A few years ago I bough a couple of Boker Tech Tools, but I had two issues: 1. The blade seemed quite loose against the back spring, I could easily push it forward with my thumb while it was open, and 2. The pocket clip, I hate them, I find them really uncomfortable while using the tool, I prefer to put on a lanyard.
    What is the blade “lock” like on the Ruike?
    By the way, if you want a thicker blade, go for the Victorinox “Pioneer” range, 94mm Alox scales, I always carry a Farmer X.

      Pioneer X for me. It's a farmer X without the saw. Can't see the point of a two and half inch saw when I have a real one! The scissors though? Damn near perfect.

    The only problem I see with it is the fact that it doesn't have a can opener. Yes, I know I could use the main blade but I am not going to do that. I use the Victorinox Rangergrip 57 Hunter. It gives me everything I want. Yes, it is a little bigger and heavier but worth it to me. Don't get me wrong, it looks like a great little knife just not for me. Thanks for sharing Neil.

  • @c2c001
    @c2c001 11 месяцев назад +1

    I don't see the point in having a pocket knife that doesn't have a can opener and I especially don't understand the point of putting a bottle opener and not a can opener considering you can use a can opener to open a bottle but you can't use a bottle opener to open a can.

    Just a word of caution
    The small screwdriver is a bit unsafe!
    If you aren't careful, the strap cutter can slam shut, it's extremely sharp and bites really deeply!!
    It's the reason that I got rid of mine!
    Take care

    I was interested to see couple of reviews related to Ruike, thought that they might be worth looking at,. Unfortunately, this review ended for me at something like "I've had couple of Swiss army knives, the little red ones and couple of them snapped on me". I've been using Victorinox 91 and 84mm SAKs for decades for various tasks, including "bushcraft" and they've never snapped on me. And I've seen Victorionox blades well used over decades and sharpened so many times that they start to look more like awl than knife blade. Why would anyone listen to advert from someone who does not know how to use simple pocket knife properly?

  • @woodsmanforlife1677

    A chinese made junker for higher price then Swiss made Victorinox. No Phillips screw driver, a pocket clip that needs taken off.
