The saddest part is not only is there soooooooo much packaging but the doll and toys inside are so cheap and junky that those too will end up in the garbage within a year. The quality is so poor no one will bother hanging on to these dolls, they are a throwaway toy once the opening/color reveal is over.
I love watching videos like this but individually wrapped barbie glasses and shoes and accessories angers me so much. Its like the LOL dolls and mini brands, any surprise type toy. Im not an environmentalist at all but this is unbelievable.
When people stop buying them. If there was no money in it they wouldn't.
Like they could do paper packaging on the blind bags an overall make better quality toys to stop them going in the bin it's ridiculous

Lately, Barbie has been very underwhelming.. especially fashion wise. Loved the Extra dolls cause they stepped it up but besides that.. even the Fashionistas have no fashion 😂
I like that the Fashionistas have a variety of body types but I wish they had a wardrobe variety like we had in the 80s
the Extra dolls are just a mismatched pattern eyesore tbh
So sad as a kid barbie had quality. Like the clothes had Fur, sequins, buttons. The play sets had the tiniest details real pillows, blankets, mini ice cubes from the drinks! Now everything is one colour plastic.
My grandma used to make her own custom Barbie clothes. So I have one of a kind outfits for Barbie that you literally can't buy anywhere. I have a real mink fur coat for the doll.
I played with Barbie back in 2010-13 mostly. So I’ve seen the Swappen Styles line and the Sweet and Sassy dolls. Looking at those and then looking at these it is clear something went down.
"Maybe kids who grew up in the 70s would understand this" girl I'm a 2002 baby and I still put Elmer's Glue on my hand let it dry and then peeled it off as a kid.

I think this is just one of those multigenerational things. I'm a 1990 baby and did this. My mother's a 1960 baby and did this and I'm pretty damn sure if PVC existed in the 30s my grandmother would too.
This doll looks like she got kicked out of Fairytopia for clearly not being a fairy AND the Kingdom from Magic of Pegasus for attempting to impersonate Princess Annika.

I remember when I was a kid and I received a Barbie doll that had some sort of beads wrapped around her dress that you could remove and wear as a bracelet and they changed color in water and it was the most amazing thing I'd ever seen.

The water dunking is half the fun. Without that it's just a low end Barbie, a notch above the regular swimsuit dolls. May as well save $5 and get a Barbie Extra.

I don’t know if little kids would be able to peel that every easily. Plus any small child might try to put the stuff in their mouth. Not to mention the worst slime ever!
I never liked the Barbie's with painted on clothes, even as a kid. The only thing I liked about this set was the Paul Stanley bunny. lol Love Mr. S. I don't know if any of you 70's kids had a party line,my mom would sit on the midway of the landing and talk to all the housewives. Who had a phone cord long enough to wrap yourself up like a mummy?
I never liked them either as a kid I could stand that they had painted on clothes ig it’s good if your kid likes tho change their barbies clothes’ a lot but that’s about it
As someone who outgrew barbie as a child and now have just regained an interest during the pandemic....I'm appalled
not a 70's kid (in fact im a 2002 baby) but my childhood home was the one my dad had been living in since birth (mid 60s) so we had a ton of wall phones with cords. used to get in so much trouble playing with the cords.

Yes! I have a pink glitter fairy barbie doll from the 90s, and she has painted on clothes. It gets me so annoyed, i always have to switch out barbie clothes so she could have some actually decent clothes.

I totally wish we could get the cool water thing and real hair. After all no one likes the wigs but they can’t do the water thing with real hair Mattel is kinda in a catch 22 there.
Yeah, my 7yo would definitely love this! She's totally into slime of all kinds and randomly peels anything she can, whether she's supposed to or not! Pretty doll too.

The peeling reminds me of the frustration trying to remove the plastic of a some jars and bottles... :s
When you get a drink from the store and it has that weird plastic on it and you try and peel it off from around the cap but the dotted lines don't work and you end up peeling the entire label off

I agree that the whole color reveal barbies are very cheap. All the peices they have are very cheap. They also break easly and their wigs are very bad.
With the popularity of Monster High, they Have to make it work. If Mattel doesn't, I honestly don't know where they are headed. Well, I do have an idea. Sigh!

Okay, these dolls are actually kind of pretty. The quality might night be the best, but they're kind of pretty. For having budget doll bodies, they're not too bad. Not worth $30, but not too bad. Definitely something to consider picked up when they go in clearance in like three weeks.

Also, with the rise of sustainable fashion, an earth fairy who is also fashionable is totally reasonable and could have been a fun thing for the show to explore, but nooooooo
Honestly I prefer the peeling to having a whole tube full of paint water that gets everywhere when spilled. The peel is at least dry and easily disposed off

These dolls are horrible. It dissapoints me that people are spending $20-$30 on these. Does no one remember 15 years ago when you could get a whole set with clothes and everything for that price? Not to mention the quality was amazing and the dolls actually looked GOOD. Honestly, if the packing didn’t have the word “Barbie” on the front would you still buy it? Can’t believe this won toy of the year.

I have spent my teen and adult life thus far (I'm 26) hiding and feeling stupid for my love of toys and dolls and plushies (and obviously make up and skincare galore too). Finding the adult collector community and your channel in particular has helped me realize that who cares what others think about it. It brings me joy and I need all the joy I can get because of chronic health issues. Anyway, what I mean to say is thank you for being just as quirky as I am. Also, thank you for just being an all around wonderful, caring, and kind-hearted human being. 💜💜💜

Imo, this shouldn’t of needed so much plastic either, yikes. Anyone else think the high price point has more to do with the extra plastic and non biodegradable vinyl peel? Also, what’s with the pets? I thought Tera was a great character. I loved that she made her own clothing, I loved that she was her natural self. Those are the things that made her my favourite, if I'm being honest. Not all girls have to be into fashion and makeup, y'know? So while you might see her as frumpy and boring, I saw her as being a really lovely character with a lot of authenticity. She was so vocal about her feelings, and her emotions were so real to her. ♥

I just see SO much rubbish and SO much mess. My experience with kids I know they get bored after opening the doll and maybe 2 bags. After that, they give up and just play.

mattel really needs to step up there quality, MGA is doing a really great job, the have pretty dolls with nice hair and clothing as well as diversity and all for a really fiar price! mattel you need to step up your game! im honstly terrified of what the monster high reboot might end up being. 😱😤😰😭
