I miss when barbies had this quality of face screening instead of the pixelated stickers or just cheap stickers of today :( I miss the glitter, gloss, textures... and the details on the clothing... ugh
As a collector of secondhand dolls, just a tip: Make sure you wash loose dolls that you buy secondhand! Even if they look clean and don't smell, you would be surprised how much dirt comes off of dolls that look immaculate. It never hurts to clean secondhand dolls even if they're new in the box. Dirt and dust can creep into the gaps between the cardboard. Also, for the loose doll, you can use some fabric softener to help soften her brittle hair. I've done it many times before, it can only help. (It also makes them smell good for a long time.)
@@randeeelyse7122 I get a lot of my secondhand stuff in big lots and bundles in eBay, but I've had some luck in my local thrift stores once in a while. It honestly just depends largely on what your town's population is like (how many kids there are, mainly) and the time of year. Fall is often a good time to hit thrift stores for toys because parents are cleaning our their kids old stuff when they go to college, plus you might catch some finds from people off-loading old toys in preparation for getting new stuff for their kids for Christmas.
In my close circle of family members and friends collecting dolls / toys is looked upon as being too childish and not something a 30 year old (like myself) should be doing. I am SO GLAD that I found your channel. I really mean it. I am struggling with depression all my life and even so much as a channel like yours is helping me get through life so much happier.
The Happy Family Barbie's from the 90's. Phenomenal quality dolls, playsets and accessories! Mattel needs to bring back quality!!! I wouldn't mind spending $$$ if the quality was there!
I think a lot of people wouldn't mind paying more money for a better quality doll. I see plenty of Barbies in the 1980s that cost the same or more than the Barbies on store shelves today. Which was a lot more money back then! These were play-line Barbies designed for kids. And parents had no problem buying them.
I saw an 1800 french lady barbie at a thrift store for $40 but then I found the same one on eBay for about $20 and it arrived yesterday she's a collector barbie that I love and these barbies are so cool
7:12 my cousin has this doll and still have her till this days... like has pass over 11 years and it's crazy.. how much we enjoing playing together ..and play with her.. so years now.. Nice to see this doll and remember these memories.. thanks 💙
You always talk about a 50 something doll collector well I am a 60 something gal that has gotten into collecting dolls after watching your vids. I started with the Na Na Na and it’s going from there. I really like unusual looking dolls. Love your vids. Love your no nonsense attitude.
I love these. I wish I could rebuy the barbies i gave away but i will never get the clothing collection i had for them. I had a whole suitcase full of barbie clothing and i regret ever giving them up but I gave them to a little girl next door who loved them and could enjoy them.
Great Haul. I wish I had gotten more S.I.S. dolls back in the day, like this Grace in the AKA sorority colors. I only have one of the Baby Phat S.I.S. dolls since they more posable, and I still like the look of her more than my newer Barbies. I also miss the Barbie Basics/Look dolls. Speaking of diverse spin-off lines, I recently watched a video on Shani dolls. I remember them from the early 90s, basically the predecessor to S.I.S.
Your dress sounds pretty. Also, I adore the beautiful lady in the orange dress. The orange is just absolutely stunning with her gorgeous dark skin tone.
22:54 she is beautiful, like a goddess. I just broke my pocket and bought her on ebay. That color combination with her beautiful deep skin and orange/coopery shimmer dress is striking. I am so glad it's you who did this review. I can't wait to get her in the mail.
8:40 be careful with that one dear, don't boil wash her. The glue Mattel used in her head is weird, idk how to explain it - but I have her, and I boil washed her, and until today her hair is full of glue :( it's hard as a rock... can't get rid of that, unfortunately. The same happened to my Toy Story 3 Barbie
Well, true. It is not so shiny. But soft, you can comb it with your fingers and they smell nice. Well, you cant make an omelette without breaking the eggs. 🤷🏼♂️
You might try using Goo Gone to remove the glue in the hair. Put it in when the hair is dry, work it through and let it sit for a while, them wash it out with dish soap. After that, use either cheap conditioner (the kind with silicones) or fabric softener to soften the hair again. Let it dry and check the results. You can repeat this a couple times and it usually helps. I used to do this with my secondhand Monster High ghouls. I had a Clawdeen whose hair was completely solid, and it was still super soft and brushable when I out her into storage.
Somebody has a crush on the Mbili face sculpt. Four of these dolls, including the showstopper at the end were Mbili. She definitely is one of my top 3. ❤️

Awesome Barbie haul. They are all beautiful dolls with great outfits my favourite would be the city shine dolls, especially the one in that amazing copper/orange dress. Makes me want to buy some Barbies on eBay. 😍♥️
Love the look back on all these dolls. I loved the model muse bodies on the top model dolls from 2007. I believe...? They just stopped making them and never made any extra clothing. Great haul!!!
Love your late night shopping! I've wanted one of those Grace/Nikki dolls for a while - I may go looking for one. Do you collect any of the Generation Girl Barbies with their hobby accessories? They look great displayed in their boxes, with all their things.
Wow the Barbie look city shine 😍😍😍 I bought the 2008 holiday Barbie off Mercari cause I had to have a Barbie with the real eyelashes 👍👍👍 😱❤️ love when Barbie gets earrings and a ring
Omg!!! I literally got that doll two weeks ago on eBay. I am not a big fan of the fashionistas especially now that they’re faces are pixelated and I hate it. So I found these so in style dolls and I’m in love. When these came out my little boy was just starting school and I didn’t feel like I wanted to spend money on something that was not child related. However, now that he’s in college I’m going to town. I’m going to try and collect as many of the soul in style dolls as I can. I love their face sculpt, I love their outfits I love their hair. Altogether I feel like they were very well done and affordable at the time.
I so wish they would go back to that face mold and makeup in the 2010 time frame. I just can't get into this new face since 2014....Love your Haul. I have the, The Look doll in hot pink as well. Two of them, one in the box and one out. She is gorgeous!! I have been searching off and on for the girl in orange.
Love your videos Melissa, I love the two fashionista, the barbie that you got alone is gorgeous where did you get it? I wish I could get one. Keep it up, I love barbies and I also collect them, I love when the barbies had good quality.
I didn't have a chance to get the Barbie The Look, City Shine doll that I wanted-the one with the short dark hair, long triangular earrings, and red and black ensemble. I thought she was wonderful the moment I saw her, because she made me think of my favorite non-Barbie doll in the Barbie line, Casey. My Casey came in a shiny white and gold swimsuit and had short dark hair and triangle earring, we had many convoluted adventures together and she became my main character. To me the City Shine doll I'm referring to would be her updated (2014) version. She's amazing.
I would love if they brought back the So In Style Barbie line! I caught on too late. All I could find when I discovered them were the sis budget dolls🥺. You are awesome loved your haul!
I totally agree with you on the ecstasy that produces the contemplation of these City Shine dolls...There`s no need for articulation in them. Bronze girl, the one in fucsia, the golden dress one and the long-haired brunette (so Priscilla Presley) in lace dress are my most favourites!!!! Seeing them is like a Dinasty series chapter and rooted lashes for me is a must.
