I remember the Wendy's salad bar, it was amazing. I was 8 years old and it was the only way I'd eat salads, which would be like 50% croutons, 30% shredded cheese, 20% lettuce and 10% blue cheese dressing.
“I also don’t know what timeline we’re on” hit me in a way i wasn’t expecting but also comforted me in a weird way. I might just be drunk and high tho.
When McDonald's fried the pies, the filling temperature was that of either the surface of the sun or a nuclear blast. Depending on location. But were still delicious.
Taco Bell breakfast is top tier (in terms of fast food) not all of it but the breakfast crunchwrap is great. their bacon may be a little sus but the sausage is good.
I'm not reading through all the comments to see if someone said this already, but... McDonald's in Downey, CA -- the oldest still open McDonald's in the world -- still sells deep fried apple pies. Not a far trip from Disneyland and worth every minute. That molten lava apple pie mix is just as delicious as I remembered.
I agree the 90s commercials didn't make much sense, but at least it was somewhat related to the product. Now days I swear you don't even notice what's being advertised.
There's a good story from Mike Watt about D Boon at the Wendy's salad bar circa early '80's. Both were founding members of the Minutemen punk band and both were, of course, dirt poor in the early '80's. Anyways, D Boon would always get the salad bar at Wendy's. He'd pay for one round at the salad bar, put his plate on the tray they gave you, then would to go get salad/pasta/etc and instead of filling just the plate he would overfill the plate and fill the entire tray, ultimately pissing off the manager, but the manager couldn't do anything 'cause D Boon gave him a gee-shucks look and plead poverty. Ate like that during whole tours, abusing Wendy's salad bars all over the country.
Bro, the breakfast crunchwrap with sausage is pretty great if they make it right. I always get extra jalapeno sauce on the side to dip it in. The cinnabon delight things are quite good as well.
The priazzo was so good ! My mom worked late Thursday so we had it every Thirsday. We watched Family Ties, Cosby Show, Cheers and Nightcourt and had Priazzo. Oh the 80s.....
Don’t badmouth the Priazzo. It was fantastic. It took about 45 minutes to cook. So the old school Pizza Hut experience was lengthened, meaning more Ms. Pac-Man and Gorf on the flat top video game. Delightful.
Holy hell I really enjoyed this trip down memory lane. You made me laugh with your reaction and at the same time brought new life and meaning to these 'mercials. Thanks Chef!!
The Wendys Salad bar just reawakened a memory I forgot I had, going to Wendy's with my dad and just running around as a kid. Crazy how it just made me remember that.
I worked at Wendy's in '93, and the salad bar was a pain, but was nice to have a little more variety for your comped employee meal. (They also had chocolate pudding sitting out there in the ice that we had to frequently augment when our shift was for the dining room.
My favorite part about the McDLT was how they would make it and then put it under a heat lamp for just long enough to make sure the lettuce and tomato got warm and disgusting, ruining the entire plan.
As a Wendy's employee back then, it was a nightmare to keep clean. No one could seem to pour dressing just on their salads. Went everywhere. Constant refilling of everything. Ice brought out in huge heavy buckets. Breaking it down at closing took forever. Everything would have to be cleaned before being refrigerated. Ice removed and dumped. Everything wiped down for the millionth time that night.
Wendy’s Super Bar was actually a rather good deal and always fresh. It was setup in a horse shoe with staff restocking from the middle. They had a good salad selection and the hot foods included pastas, tacos, chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy. I worked at another buffet restaurant at the time. In talking with their manager, their food costs were around 22%.
KFC occasionally brings the Double Down back. I had it for the first time about 5 years ago for the novelty of it…let me preface by saying in concept it’s a disgusting concept and it’s basically eating death for lunch. Having said that it was delicious as fuck and I have no will power so I remember eating 4 over the course of a week. I’m glad it only comes back occasionally.
Wendy's Superbar fed me and my ex for several years when we lived in an old hippie bus. Pasta, salad, tacos, we could eat a fairly balanced, healthy meal for a reasonable price.
My sister nearly killed me with that TMNT van as a kid. I was coming up the stairs and she threw it at my head, sending me tumbling down head over heels. Fun toy!
I worked at a Wendys in the late 90s on the salad bar. Yes, upkeep was a full time job. Some of the food was reused the next day, though it was at least refrigerated overnight.
Who remembers when (MCDONALD'S, WENDYS, & BURGER KING) Taking shots at each other in commercials? The whole "WHERES THE BEEF ???" being yelled by the old lady eating a burger & the sign was a Golden W Which was just the Golden Arches Upsidedown!! Then in the burger king Commercial they got a identical guy to DAVE from Wendy's sitting down at a "LINDYZ" when he got his burger he said "COME ON GUYS BURGERS AREN'T SQUARE". Then he walked in to Burger king & said "NOW THATS A BURGER, IF YOU WANT A BURGER MADE WITH CARE, IT AINT GONNA BE SQUARE"
The deep dish pizza 🍕 ad seems like it could be in a 80s/90s sitcom when a wife is nagging about A trip to Italy so the husband brings it home & says "This is exactly how Italy does it"
Seriously, in Florida's retirement belt, in 1988 you could get 'all you can eat' Wendy's Food Bar for $2.99. Yup. I don't think the cheese was cheese though.
I was just old enough to try the Arch Deluxe. Their plan backfired, because it made me realize the rest of their food was garbage. When the stopped selling it, I switched to Backyard Burger.
I'd love to see you do White Castle and their burgers, the original sliders. I remember after drinking heavily, we would have to eat there. Got the shizzies after. Open 24 hours in the Chicagoland area. Jack in the Box were good too, especially their tacos.
Taco Bell's sausage crunchwrap is the only fast food breakfast I'll eat, and it's so good I even offer to do early morning food shopping for the wife just to grab one. My brother and I used to catch crap at Wendy's when we'd take pour the nacho cheese from the Super Bar over our fries.
Wendys soup and salad bar frickin rocked. Me and my friends were teens then, and we would just wreck entire offerings. Had a full tub of chili out there? 5 minutes after we got there, now you don't. XD
I agree with trying the sausage crunch wrap. Like most things at taco bell, it depends on the day. We had a Wendy's with the sun room that closed a few years ago. I would sit there because it was usually empty.
My boss used to make me go to Wendy's and load up the biggest salad for him. I had to sit on the lid like an overstuffed suitcase and try to walk out of there with a shred of dignity! Ha...good times.
Pizzagna being Pete's on ya just reminds me of that Seinfeld episode with George's gym teacher saying Cant Stand ya. Also, I miss the Pizza Hut Dessert Bar.
Loving this long form. Also, thank you for inspiring me to dig into Benny Benassi. I was born in 83 too; sad I missed them the first time around in 2003.
I am 50 now, back when I was a teen, my father and I would destroy that salad bar at Wendy's, it had chili, garlic bread, hard boiled eggs, all the salad ingredients you could think of, all for like $3.99!
I remember the Wendy's salad bar. Yeah... I'm that old. It was actually pretty good. As for growing the channel and more vids for '25, DO IT! Been following you on Facebook Reels for ages. I dig when I get notified of a RUclips video. Keep it up Chef!
Chef those "Satisfries" actually were different...They were made with a shit ton of Lecithin and it would give people the runs ROFL. Thats why they pulled them. Also that dude getting off on the hot wings was none other then Christian Bale! LOL
This man is the perfect combination of disgusted and self loathing that I need, 10/10 will follow content
I remember the Wendy's salad bar, it was amazing. I was 8 years old and it was the only way I'd eat salads, which would be like 50% croutons, 30% shredded cheese, 20% lettuce and 10% blue cheese dressing.
This is the proper ratio for an 8 year old although I was big on 1000 islands when i was 8, blue cheese not so much
Arch Delux was the best burger McDonald’s ever had. Peppered bacon & a Dijon mayo on a potato roll!!! It was truly ahead of it’s time.
that does sound pretty good honestly
“I also don’t know what timeline we’re on” hit me in a way i wasn’t expecting but also comforted me in a weird way. I might just be drunk and high tho.

Making a note of this in case I'm ever near there
I agree the 90s commercials didn't make much sense, but at least it was somewhat related to the product. Now days I swear you don't even notice what's being advertised.
The old-dude Muppets were named Statler and Waldorf. May you and Cody have many golden years hanging out on a bench together, hating things.

My first job was at McD during the fried pie era. When I closed I took home the ones left in warmer. The best.
"nah we're out" : pockets 2 more
7:05 the breakfast Crunchwrap genuinely goes kinda crazy, gotta be real here
The Wendy's superbar was the shit. You could make taco salads, and their was all sorts of grabage that 8 year old me would go ham on
Bro, the breakfast crunchwrap with sausage is pretty great if they make it right. I always get extra jalapeno sauce on the side to dip it in. The cinnabon delight things are quite good as well.
Dude, I love your videos. Your references in all your videos are right in my wheelhouse. Keep them coming.
The priazzo was so good ! My mom worked late Thursday so we had it every Thirsday. We watched Family Ties, Cosby Show, Cheers and Nightcourt and had Priazzo. Oh the 80s.....
I am forever grateful that they still fry the apple pies in the UK. 10/10, no notes.
People give americans shit for deep frying everything but I present to you: the UK
Don’t badmouth the Priazzo. It was fantastic. It took about 45 minutes to cook. So the old school Pizza Hut experience was lengthened, meaning more Ms. Pac-Man and Gorf on the flat top video game. Delightful.
GORF!
Holy hell I really enjoyed this trip down memory lane. You made me laugh with your reaction and at the same time brought new life and meaning to these 'mercials. Thanks Chef!!
Arch Deluxe was my all time favorite burger from McDonald's It was so good.
Taco Bell needs to bring back the ORIGINAL, Enchirito and all will be right in the world.
I don't remember this, but I can do the math of what it was like based off of the name
The Wendys Salad bar just reawakened a memory I forgot I had, going to Wendy's with my dad and just running around as a kid. Crazy how it just made me remember that.
Taco bell breakfast: A) No you shouldn't try it. B) You should absolutely rate it hahaha.
wait, what?
Pizza Hut learned their lesson about how to market to Americans. The Priazza Roma was rebranded as the Triple Deckeroni.
THE CHEESY MEATY DOUGHY ROUND THING
They cut a corner off your Gen X card if you don't remember the Wendy's SuperBar.
I'm not Gen X
I worked at Wendy's in '93, and the salad bar was a pain, but was nice to have a little more variety for your comped employee meal. (They also had chocolate pudding sitting out there in the ice that we had to frequently augment when our shift was for the dining room.
"augment"
My favorite part about the McDLT was how they would make it and then put it under a heat lamp for just long enough to make sure the lettuce and tomato got warm and disgusting, ruining the entire plan.
makes sense
Loved this video! 10/10 would watch more of your commercial vids!

100% agree about the Earl of Sandwich, especially the Holiday Turkey. I haven't found anything on their menu that isn't excellent.
KFC occasionally brings the Double Down back. The Wendy's Superbar was awesome
Wendy's Superbar fed me and my ex for several years when we lived in an old hippie bus. Pasta, salad, tacos, we could eat a fairly balanced, healthy meal for a reasonable price.
over/under on how many times a week you had loose bowel movements?
The Wendy's Super Bar was great. They were also the top choice for a fast food breakfast for me, back in the 80s.
Grandma was using a walker but the will to live allowed her to do a back flip! Love your content.
My sister nearly killed me with that TMNT van as a kid. I was coming up the stairs and she threw it at my head, sending me tumbling down head over heels. Fun toy!
Love your stuff, appreciate you, homie
Appreciate you. An appreciation circle jerk
I haven't laughed so hard in a video in awhile. Thank you
I worked at a Wendys in the late 90s on the salad bar. Yes, upkeep was a full time job. Some of the food was reused the next day, though it was at least refrigerated overnight.
Fun one Chef!! I like this concept!! maybe find old snack food commercials too.
coming soon!
These reviews are on point. I feel completely satisfried.

Wendy’s super bar was fire. There was nacho chips and cheese, chili stuff and a really nice salad bar. I remember it as a kid im 38.
I’d love for you to find a commercial for the Burger King mini burgers! Anyone remember those? Loved them! Also I miss the McDLT. LOVED those
Should definitely try taco bell breakfast! Surprisingly it is my favorite! Sausage crunch wrap! Burritos are pretty good too.
The deep dish pizza 🍕 ad seems like it could be in a 80s/90s sitcom when a wife is nagging about A trip to Italy so the husband brings it home & says "This is exactly how Italy does it"
I just discovered this channel and OMG I’ve never laughed so hard, thank you!
Seriously, in Florida's retirement belt, in 1988 you could get 'all you can eat' Wendy's Food Bar for $2.99. Yup. I don't think the cheese was cheese though.
Old-school apple pies would have the insides that would light your mouth on fire. And I loved it. Worth the pain. So good.
I was just old enough to try the Arch Deluxe. Their plan backfired, because it made me realize the rest of their food was garbage. When the stopped selling it, I switched to Backyard Burger.

I've only ever had white castle once and it was in detroit at 3 am after summerslam '23
I’m literally so in love with Chef, his vibe, his violent honesty. He’s so perfect. He’s me. Maybe that’s why? ❤

16:02 My name is Janice and I didn’t expect to hear it said so angrily hahahah. But YA LAY OFF HIM 😂
damn its in the username too. not you, janice. the other janice.
"I wouldn't let him have orange slices"...😂😅😂 you a funny cat💯☮️ I dig your channel
I totally remember that Wendy's salad bar. I used to eat it often. It had some good stuff on it. Those were the days
Dude breakfast crunchwraps are awesome
IDEA: you should recreate horrid depression era dishes (like "salads" aka aspics) and try them and rate them . that would be super entertaining
This is by far one of the best things ever that you’ve put out. 😂 I love it! Keep up the regular reacts too though. 👌
Wendy's salad bar was awesome!
I follow you on FB and I'm super happy I found you here. Absolutely love seeing this side of you
Statler and Waldorf. When they aren’t in commercials they are running the collection baskets at my church. I’ll tell them you’re a fan
My 90s memory burger was the Bullseye Burger from BK. I think it was double patty, bacon, Bullseye BBQ sauce, onions and that's it.
I loved the chocolate pudding they had at the Wendys salad bar!! I always put a little bit of lettuce, a ton of eggs and cheese and ranch dressing.
You ripped those writers to shreds on that last one 😂😂
Getting left at playplace brought back . memories. As a young gen x/millennial cusp kid, we had a lack of adult supervision ALOT
I need MCDONALD'S to bring back a few things.
1.) Strawberry/Cream Pie
2.) The Holiday Custard pie
3.) Popcorn Chicken
“Kingdom of Burgania”
😂😂😂😂
ALL HAIL THE KING!
Wendys soup and salad bar frickin rocked. Me and my friends were teens then, and we would just wreck entire offerings. Had a full tub of chili out there? 5 minutes after we got there, now you don't. XD
Seeing you not wearing your chef jacket almost feels wrong 😂
watch my other youtube vids so you get accustomed to it
No one goes for taco bell breakfast. And no taco bell employee who wakes up and goes to work that early, cares about the quality of the food lol.
The grown-up taste reminds me a lot of Japan where things are commonly marketed for having an "adult" taste for the mature palate.
I agree with trying the sausage crunch wrap. Like most things at taco bell, it depends on the day. We had a Wendy's with the sun room that closed a few years ago. I would sit there because it was usually empty.

Huge fan and long time follower! Love your content! You're awesome!
@4:30... when Micheal Bay directs your Taco Bell commercial😅
KFC Twister Wrap w that pepper mayo was so bomb back in the 2000's
My man dove into the deep lore of a 90s Taco Bell ad like it was Warhammer 40K.
I think Grandma was working an insurance scam !
Definitely do the tbell breakfast
Loving this long form. Also, thank you for inspiring me to dig into Benny Benassi. I was born in 83 too; sad I missed them the first time around in 2003.
Give your editor a raise. He's working magic here.
Fantastic. No notes. Gotta do more of these
Ugh I agree 💯 on the veggies on a burger. The closest ill get is grilled onions.
Damn! Chef is savage on that little kid 🤣Love it!
This was great! Thanks chef!
thanks for watching
"Dad lost the house."
I'm dying!
🤣🤣
God damn man. I’m 42 and feel every year of it now. Also dig the background, reminds me of my kitchen.
Taco Bell had “The Bacon Menu” for a minute back in the late 90s… it was AMAZING!!!
How many tabs you gotta eat to have the Burger King show up at your window 😂😂😂😂😂
I am 50 now, back when I was a teen, my father and I would destroy that salad bar at Wendy's, it had chili, garlic bread, hard boiled eggs, all the salad ingredients you could think of, all for like $3.99!
Yes! More youtube content! Enjoyed the vid Chef. Cheers 🍻
Burger King mushroom double swiss. Gone but not forgotten.
Never will forget that sound the Styrofoam McD's boxes would make when you opened them. Or the satisfaction of snapping them in half.
I remember the Wendy's salad bar. Yeah... I'm that old. It was actually pretty good. As for growing the channel and more vids for '25, DO IT! Been following you on Facebook Reels for ages. I dig when I get notified of a RUclips video. Keep it up Chef!

You are the Alistair Cooke of fast food commercial reactions my good sir!
