Have lived in Nashville for about 16 years now, anyone who comes to visit I always take them to Monell's. It's southern family style meals, you sit at a big table with strangers, whoever is there to eat, and they bring out tons of food and you just pass it around in a circle. And its SO good. The dinner is amazing, and the breakfast is even better. Highly recommend.
Your videos are everything I want from a food reviewer. Concise, eloquent, funny, practical, and real. The quality of the filming is also improving greatly with every video. I can only imagine much success coming your way in due time.
0:10 says welcome to Nashville and immediately shows Franklin, a city 20 minutes south of Nashville😂😂 I don’t know why I find that funny lol. Hope you enjoyed your time in town
I say this as a South Carolinian who was born in Springfield TN..right down the road from Nashville...it's amazing how nice the people in southern states are compared to their governments. The hatred of people is manufactured so hard around here. We have a huge food culture and if you come over for a cookout you're getting fed and leaving with a plate and we're going to have a lot left over. That's the way we do it. Screw all the entities that make things worse, most of us just want to have a free night to bbq a whole pig and make squash caserole and stuff.
Gettin' Weird Time! I first watched the Sean Brock season of PBS' Mind of a Chef ten years ago right after my dad died very suddenly. During the very worst, most painful darkness of my life, Sean's passion and genuine love of the food and culture he shared was a bit of light and warmth that I needed so much. Haven't had a reason to be in that area of the country before, but may just need to find one in addition to checking out his restaurant.
You need to do voiceovers. I could listen to you talk for hours. I know you say you're monotone, but it's soothing lol. Anywho, I've never been to Nashville but if I do, will def try a few places. Thanks, Chef!
Awww, your first country ham. Also, solid visit, thanks for getting out of downtown, and visiting Pins (a fave of mine.) Your variety and honesty is appreciated.
Hattie B's in Nashville is our goal/treat on our annual road trip from the West through Nashville into North Carolina. It really is great. Princes is great too.
Hell yeah, was hoping you'd come to Nashville, there so much food here, it's exploded, so many good places to eat. Crazy to think you were literally 10 minutes from my house at Loveless Cafe. You rated them higher than I would have, to me they're a notch above a cracker barrel but barely. Over priced tourist trap and your complaint about the ham is spot on, it's always like that when I've gone, thin and dry. I'd give it a 7.5/10. Some places for your list for next time: Hawkers, Velvet Taco (the chicken Tikka taco and red coconut curry queso are my go to) and yeah Princes is good but also try Mary's ribs and bbq and Martin's bbq is good as well. Peace ✌️
I feel kinda bad for the Fairlane Hotel. They were smart enough to get you to come stay there for some free publicity.... and that was the end of their planning and preparation! "Just get him here!" 😆 (Place looked nice though.)
I’m glad you enjoyed Nashville and Franklin, my home. Please put City House on your list for your next visit. Chef owner Tandy Wilson is a JB award winner. The comfortable relaxed and casual vibe is only exceeded by their delicious cuisine and cocktails. I moved here in ‘97 from Jersey and CH ihas been on top of my list since it opened. Try the belly ham pizza with an egg! 10/10!
Ladies and gentlemen, meet the next Anthony Bourdain. This guy is spectacular. Please keep making content and traveling. You have a gift and I’d love to see you travel all over the US and world and make videos. I’d love to see you sit down with people and talk to them about their culture and food. The sky is the limit.
Long time listener, first time commenter. I saw some other folks mentioning City House, that is absolutely a good idea. If I could only take you to one place in the whole city, it would be Big Al's. Hands down the most "hidden gem locals only" type place I have been to in my decade living here. Al is a sweetheart and I promise you his dishes appear nowhere else on any menu in town, or probably the world. Banana Encrusted Chipotle Pork Tenderloin anyone?
NGL….one Tuesday night, I was Ubering in East and picked up a couple from Audrey. They then told me they both struck up an hour long conversation with Sean Brock in the restaurant and the husband didn’t even eat any of his food. They had it in a to-go bag. Wife asked if I wanted it and I happily agreed. Ended up being a Bearcreek steak with morel mushrooms, some kind of potatoes, and some grits. Best steak I’d ever had and it was free and I ate it in my car. Funny side note: I was in the process of having dental work, so I had a temporary bridge in my mouth and the steak pulled my bridge off… 😂 I wasn’t even mad. But I spent the rest of the night and next morning with an exposed, ground down teeth.
Hattie B's is just a tourist trap. Next time you're in Nashvile go to Red's instead and get the hot chicken crunchwrap. It will make you forget all about Hattie B's.
That Shut the Cluck Up was so hot it gave me a migraine. It snuck up on me after my first bite. I was like This isn't bad, but by the time i got that second bite in my mouth it was on fire.
Friendly suggestion: find someone that has lived in the city for 20 years or more that has a genuine passion for food (without any hipster bullshit) and consult them to plan and/or include in your adventures. If you think this is subtle plug to suggestion myself, it is not in any way, but think it would have helped as someone that has lived in Nashville for....20 years. There are some VERY unique folks here that probably would have only boosted the flavor of the video - even if only included for little edited snippets here and there to keep the focus on what you have going. Video was 8.5/10 would sort of recommend.
I absolutely love the way you put this togeter!!! The way you showcase the name, items, cost, and your personal opinion. I really hope this becomes a series and you do hundreds of these! Keep doin you chef! 10/10 would recommend
Came for the food reviews, stayed for the dry humor. You gained a new subscriber. I'm a Nashville local so it was nice to see some places I haven't tried yet!
Finally, someone else that sweats when they eat spicy food. I make my own habanero/Armageddon pepper sauce for my scrambled eggs at breakfast. I need one napkin for my mouth and one for my forehead.
Hot damn is this channel underrated! His tik toks are awesome but I really like this long form content. I feel like most review channels are just clones of each other, but this one is definitely unique. Fantastic job!
There is something about these longer videos that is touching a void in my heart left when Anthony Bourdain died. Something in the earnest delivery of it all amidst really beautiful visuals. You've got your own thing going, Chef, and the quality is really, really good.
I need to correct one thing, Hattie B’s is not “fast food”… it’s my Nashville treat whenever I have to go down there, and most of the time I can say expect a 10-15 min wait, if you can find parking readily. Easily the best hot chicken spot. The sides fuckin slay.
I've lived in Nashville for 16 years. I'm so happy you gave Peg Leg 9-10. I absolutely prefer dry rub, and Peg Leg does it as good as any I've had. Chief's on Broadway does another really great try rub rib and mac&cheese. Loveless is good, I wouldn't give it 8.5, maybe 7. Maybe just because I prefer more interesting flavors versus just plain downhome stuff. I never get dessert at Hattie B's.
You just hit the more famous places and there are still more to hit. Biscuit love is amazing, there are several great restaurants at the Factory in Franklin. I have lived here all my life but traveled all around the world. I love Tennessee and Franklin specifically. Glad you enjoyed your time here.
Now when you pick a pawpaw Or a prickly pear And you prick a raw paw Well, next time beware Don't pick the prickly pear by the paw When you pick a pear Try to use the claw But you don't need to use the claw When you pick a pair of the big pawpaw
Great vid. We hit a few of the same places when we visited like Hattie's and Peg Leg (you left out the owner is an actual amputee 😂) and agree with all your reviews. Great town, with great food and people 🤙🏻
Hey if you didn't know, next time your down in Nashville, hit up Springwater Supper Club by Centennial. Dive bar, but it's oldest continuous and operational bar in Tennessee. Good little spot to get out of heat for a bit too.
" when I heard pawpaw custard I made a disgusting joke in my mind " lol 😂😂 I literally did the same thing and then you said it 😅 , great minds think alike and shit
I lived in Nashville 7 years and agree with everything you said except Audrey’s was not there when I lived there. I prefer Edleys over Peg Leg. Try Pucketts or Biscuit Love for breakfast. Merchants was getting remodeled while you were there but it’s a solid choice, along with Whiskey Kitchen
You made it out to Audrey, but skipped out on Red Headed Stranger across the street. If you go back to Nashville, check it out - all the food is good but they have the best burger in Nashville.
These could be 5 times longer and I'd still watch.
lol I wouldn’t. Appreciate you though
Have lived in Nashville for about 16 years now, anyone who comes to visit I always take them to Monell's. Quickly becoming my favorite on YT my dude. Heres hoping this series can become a staple and you hit some other countrys/continents.
Your videos are everything I want from a food reviewer. Concise, eloquent, funny, practical, and real. The quality of the filming is also improving greatly with every video. I can only imagine much success coming your way in due time.
Thanks so much
Thank you for speaking on behalf of the environment. Littering sucks.
"The cobbler...it does nothing!" 🤣🤣🤣
0:10 says welcome to Nashville and immediately shows Franklin, a city 20 minutes south of Nashville😂😂 I don’t know why I find that funny lol. Hope you enjoyed your time in town

“Not my Grandma… but A Grandma” 😂👏🏻
Great video of my city! Thanks for all the positivity towards Nashville's food. Hope you come back soon!
That shoutout to Avery was awesome! 🫡🙌

SB is a legend
This is the only food/travel show I ever want to watch again
The "cobbler does nothing" line was absolutely hilarious. Went straight to the Simpons.... the goggles do nothing!!!!!!!!! Great video!!!!!
Amazing wu tang reference 👐
Audrey is amazing. Glad you enjoyed it.
Really digging these long-form, destination videos. I admire you taking this further than the much simpler TikTok commentary.
Franklin resident here. Yes, we were all amazed at the size of the police station when it was built 😅
Thank you for the video. You made me homesick for the days of Bourdain.
You need to do voiceovers. I could listen to you talk for hours. I know you say you're monotone, but it's soothing lol. Anywho, I've never been to Nashville but if I do, will def try a few places. Thanks, Chef!
always excited to see chef uploads
Entertaining, informative, and honest reviews. I give it a ten out of ten.
Awww, your first country ham.
Also, solid visit, thanks for getting out of downtown, and visiting Pins (a fave of mine.) Your variety and honesty is appreciated.
Glad to see I’m not the only one that gets excited when a new video comes out
Hattie B's in Nashville is our goal/treat on our annual road trip from the West through Nashville into North Carolina. It really is great. Princes is great too.
I’m a simple man. I see chef upload. I click.
Hell yeah, was hoping you'd come to Nashville, there so much food here, it's exploded, so many good places to eat.

Loved this! You and Mrs. Reactions are killing it.
rlly glad you became famous enough to stay with gma while she needs u. ur snarky humor always makes me laugh. plus ur always authentic
Thanks for the recommendations Chef!!
I feel kinda bad for the Fairlane Hotel. They were smart enough to get you to come stay there for some free publicity.... and that was the end of their planning and preparation! "Just get him here!" 😆 (Place looked nice though.)
🤷♂️
I cackle like an idiot through each of these reviews, great job again Chef! Damn, now I want some chicken..
Glad you enjoyed your time here, chef! You gotta do Monell's next time you visit.
Next time!
Monell's closed in April.
Thanks for the video! I’d love to hear a little bit more description of what made the food items “good.”
I’m glad you enjoyed Nashville and Franklin, my home. Please put City House on your list for your next visit. Chef owner Tandy Wilson is a JB award winner. Great video! Super happy you hit Peg Leg Porker. You got what I normally ordered (green beans instead of regular beans).
Redheaded Stranger is across the street from Audrey. If you like eating good food, you'll like Redheaded Stranger.
Great stuff, as always, chef. I could watch a straight hour of this.
Wu-tang and hot chicken in the same video. The vibes couldn’t be better.
Man, I hope there will be more of these. 10/10 pace, editing, vibe, etc.
Satans Piss.... that f-ing cracked me up! 🤣

Next time head to International Market. James Beard nominated Chef Arnold Myint! He’s a flavor genius. I’ll buy!
As an Aussie, I appreciate the INXS reference 🇦🇺
All fair assessments! Glad you enjoyed Nashville and it's always good to see ya on Henry Phillips Twitch stream!

Loved every nuance of this, Chef… epic!
Hattie B's is just a tourist trap. Next time you're in Nashvile go to Red's instead and get the hot chicken crunchwrap. It will make you forget all about Hattie B's.

Chef! Next time you visit you gotta go to Red Headed Stranger! It’s right across the street from Audrey
Thanks for all the recommendations, safe travels
Glad you enjoyed your time down here
So appreciate you thanking Avery the server for her excellent service. We need to do this for these workers who excel at their jobs.
Glad you enjoyed your time in my home city! Next time you're here, if you have time, check out the belly ham pizza at City House.
Next time!

Thank you. It’s a work in progress/learning curve for sure
Came for the food reviews, stayed for the dry humor. You gained a new subscriber. I'm a Nashville local so it was nice to see some places I haven't tried yet!
Nashville and Tennessee in general are wonderful!!!
Finally, someone else that sweats when they eat spicy food. I make my own habanero/Armageddon pepper sauce for my scrambled eggs at breakfast. I need one napkin for my mouth and one for my forehead.
This makes me want to visit Nashville so bad. Your long form travel vids are somehow even better than your Ttiktoks. Thank you!
Netflix series just following you around in different cities would be a 10/10
Hot damn is this channel underrated!
His tik toks are awesome but I really like this long form content. I feel like most review channels are just clones of each other, but this one is definitely unique.
Fantastic job!
You’ve got a lot of appeal dude, but the main thing is your honesty. Free hotel? Here’s some free feedback it’s empty lol keep it up dude!
Appreciate it. I don’t care if it’s free/comped or not. You all get the real deal
Nashville has so much good food that even every hole in the wall spot is fire.
well done chef. i always enjoy your voice overs. make more!
More to come!
Also, any of Ford Frye’s places are amazing! Star Rover Sound is a classic old school Steakhouse with a modern vibe. Extremely well done!
Love the show! Keep up the unabashed and honest content!
Love this was excited to see it pop up! Maybe speed up pacing a tiny bit for all of us with TikTok brain rot
Being Frank is refreshing to me
Very cool. Always wanted to visit that city.
Brock is a culinary genius!
There is something about these longer videos that is touching a void in my heart left when Anthony Bourdain died. Something in the earnest delivery of it all amidst really beautiful visuals. You've got your own thing going, Chef, and the quality is really, really good.

Bummed you didn't go to Arnold's :( Two-time James Beard winner meat-and-three. If you go back, make it a stop for sure.

Now when you pick a pawpaw

Well, next time beware
Don't pick the prickly pear by the paw
When you pick a pear

But you don't need to use the claw

Another phenomenal video. I love your candor.
Great vid. We hit a few of the same places when we visited like Hattie's and Peg Leg (you left out the owner is an actual amputee 😂) and agree with all your reviews. Great town, with great food and people 🤙🏻
Love it all. Appreciate your honesty 🙏💙🙏
so good! I'm a native and was ready for your rips. so happy to see that you were into it. come on back!
Can’t wait to come back and dig deeper
Chef you need to do a travel show!!
Can’t wait to see your Minnesota video!
Great video! You deserve more subscribers, sir. Always good content.
You should do metro Atlanta - I could recommend a ton of places
I have 4 Michelin recommended restaurants within walking distance of my condo
INXS cover band is random but really funny
Hey if you didn't know, next time your down in Nashville, hit up Springwater Supper Club by Centennial. Dive bar, but it's oldest continuous and operational bar in Tennessee. Good little spot to get out of heat for a bit too.
This was a nice change from your reaction videos. Good to see the kinder gentler side of you. Now get back to work!
" when I heard pawpaw custard I made a disgusting joke in my mind " lol 😂😂 I literally did the same thing and then you said it 😅 , great minds think alike and shit
Please more RUclips content. It’s amazing
As someone named Audrey, there were some mental gymnastics for me in there...
next time do monell's and arnold's . nashville biscuit house is also a classic diner situation.
The cinematography is top notch
We built a lot of restaurants in Nashville, one of them was Peg Leg Porker.......Dowdle Construction Group...........
I've just started smoking cigars. What I can suggest is either a Cohiba Connecticut or a Monte Cristo Espada. Great cigars for not a lot of money.
You made it out to Audrey, but skipped out on Red Headed Stranger across the street. If you go back to Nashville, check it out - all the food is good but they have the best burger in Nashville.
🎉I would have dropped Crowded House another 80's Australian band. I really loved this Southern Food tour as I hope to do a similar trip soon ❤❤
