Ladies and Gentlemen, the one and only Ms. Vikki Carr!! ❤❤❤❤❤
What a fantastic tribute from the wonderful Vikki Carr to the legend that Judy Garland most definitely was. Vikki is one of the greatest singers ever to come out of America.
This was Vikki's 🎵 songbook when we saw her in 1973 at the Greek Theater. Which would end up as the live at the Greek Theater Double Album. Great memories of Vikki and that time in L.A.
One of the great female vocalists of all time 👏👏👏
Excellent job. I love Judy Garland and Vikki Carr hit it out of the park!! She's the only one who could carry it off. Both have remarkable voices. Boy, I always said no one can sing " Over the Rainbow" but Judy Garland because it was written specifically for her. Besides I didn't like other versions I heard. Now I take it back, Vikki Carr was great. The only other version I can say I loved it!!! Well done.
Vicky has always been one of my favorite singers of all time
I was fortunate enough to hear her perform this medley live several times back in the early 70s. Breath takingly beautiful with a full orchestra. Unforgettable
Excellent...I usually only like Judy singing Judy, but Ms. Carr does a great job...Brava!
Let me know when anyone from American Idol or America's Got Talent can sing like this!
What a moving tribute. Miss Carr is one classy lady....and with enormously good taste, if I do say so myself!
Agree with you completely Todd!
I couldn't have said it better....
I love Vicki Carr!
Her version of "But What About Me" at a Garland tribute in the 90s at Carnegie Hall was unforgettable!
Always is!!
One of the great singers - deserves greater acclaim in the U.S. than she gets.
I totally agree with you Art!
She's wonderful, I first heard her when I was 12. Have been a fan ever since.
Unfortunately for Vikki, she came up at a time when all the great belters were killing it as well; Barbra, Eydie Gorme, and Shirley Bassey just to name a few. But Vikki was a staple in 70's television and was did a lot of Vegas, often appearing with the various members of the rat pack.
I really like Vicki Carr, but, she over belts, it's to loud. Judy had a big voice, but, she didn't over use it like Vicki does. Judy usually would build to a big finish. Vicki is up and down like a yo-yo. I'm not insulting Vicki, I am a fan, I became one when I heard WITH PEN IN HAND. LOVE THAT SONG.
@@terrygrant3467 my very favorite of all of her many great recordings is : " hurt". She actually sings this far better than anyone else! Elvis Presley does a wonderful job (which I truly love) however, she puts so very much feeling just as Judy would do. She lives each and every word and she's so very, very awesome! Terry, what is your opinion? 🤔🤗👍❤️
No one could ever surpass Judy Garland’s God given voice, exuberance, Emotional style, pathos and ability to wring tears out of her audiences and always doing it naturally and staying true.. I have to say that only two other people could actually Sing “Over The Rainbow” and Vikki Carr is one of them and Sarah Vaughn is the other. Both these great singers sang it there own way in their own style without a Garland fan comparing their version with all of Judy’s versions. OTR was definitely meant to be written for our gal Judy.. Lucille Ball said in her autobiography that the song “Babalu belongs to Desi Arnaz like Over the Rainbow, belongs to Judy Garland”
I have always liked Vicki Carr. With Pen in hand is a great emotional song. I've heard a version where she loses control in front of a live audience, which I really didn't like. But, the orginal version was awesome. Vicki is a great singer, but, there is only one Judy.
It's touching when she gets teary eyed!
OMG, so lovely and beautiful done!!! Bring back the good old days, wow. Vikki is soooooo lovely to listen to!!! 💜⚘❤😁🌹💕🎵🦋♥️🌷🎶🦋
This singer demonstrates that she is in a class of her own.
Brilliant!
I have the two CD concert of Vikki Carr singing this at the Greek, around 1974. Very emotional singer. If you like this, you should hear her version of "With Pen in Hand". Lately she's been singing in Spanish - am looking for any recent English tracks. Thanks Buzz
Bob in Toronto
Robert Jennings Her Live in Japan is also wonderful. The LP comes up for sale online from time to time. It was the last album Columbia released from her back in 1974 or 1975. Although it was only released in Asia it's full of great performances.
Absolutely marvelous!!!
Vicky es una las mejores cantantes del mundo. Extraordinaria.
Few can pull off a convincing tribute to Judy, and VK is right up there with Babs and Bassey.
its Vikki...thanks she's wonderful
I remember seeing this when it was broadcast back I. The 70's. Oh, how I wish Canadian TV would release the entire concert on DVD. I can dream, can't I? BTW, I have a feeling they didn't broadcast the entire show she did. Her shows normally last one and a half to two hours.
I love Vikki Carr -- what a great voice. I've sung along with the Greek Theater CD for years, it never gets old. But my favorite is the first Vikki Carr album I bought, Live at the Persian Room.
The only song that can make me cry.
Just the best.
Now he's going to play that damn Vicki Carr record, and when he comes to bed he won't touch me.
From the motion picture "Moonstruck!" Yes!!
Too funny.
Great tribute!
Wow!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you for this!!!!!
Awesome
Judy has introduced me to SO many fantastic artists. I would NEVER have heard of this chick otherwise. I'm not a fan of the talking style here but I like that she's made these her own too, rather than just doing a straight up copy. Good set of lungs on her - reminds me of Liza a little. Perhaps it's a 60s/70s thing
Maravillosa👏👏👏👏👏👏💐💐💐💐
Wonderful voice, great technique. And a great stage presence. God bless Vicky Carr
In my own opinion, Vikki sings these songs so much more awesomely that Judy did!
Ms. Carr would appreciate your comments immensely; however, she'd be the first to tell you that Judy -- and only Judy -- could never be one-upped by anyone on these numbers. Whenever anyone hears them sung by any other artist, including the wonderful Vikki Carr, the Grand Garland's signature is quickly written all over them as "hers"--- and rightfully they are! Nevertheless, Vikki performs a magnificent cover of each of these "Garland Signatures".
Dream on!
Judy is and was the Greatest singer/entertainer EVER. And in my opinion Vicki is the second greatest singer ever, when she doesn't go overboard with the tears. And yes With Pen In Hand was a great song by Vicki. The single release. But, thank you Vicki for your tribute to Judy.
Picky, Picky, Picky!!!
@@terrygrant3467 Terry, I am admirer of your always contributing honest and intelligent facts about Garland and other singers. However, I also feel that Eydie gorme is up there with those two magnificent ladies! 🤔🤗
Barbara Streisand did a great version too.......
This reminded me of Bill Murray's skit of the lounge singer on the autotrain. Vicki had the voice talent but she ruined Garland's two best songs by talking through them.
You are so very right. Vicki Carr obviously has the voice but maybe she just didn't want to sound too much like Judy. She knew she would be criticized for being a imitation which was not what she was trying to do. Sadly, she almost made "The Man that got away" the very best 2nd version but she blew it by talking the song far too much. Her beautiful voice is so rich with all the passion and love lost that she could have almost equaled Judy. If only she had not been so afraid and just let herself go.
@@davidbrucepatterson3380 Right! It was this type of interpretations that Murray made fun of.
overacting
It's called, "telling a story via songstyling!!"
Vicki, does over do the tears. Vicki does try to add emotion with tears, And Judy added emotion with her body motion, and a heartbreaking sound in her voice. She feels every note, and she conveys that through her entire being. No one did it as good as THE JUDY GARLAND, NO-ONE.
