    As Epilepsy causes anxiety and depression the best thing to do is try and get in touch with a Neuro-Psychiatrist because they know the Neurological and Mental side of you.Normal Psychiatrists are hopeless when you have Epilepsy.

    I can't even put into words how appreciative I am that you put the necessary time and energy into creating these videos that spread professional knowledge and advice. It would cost any of us with epilepsy tens of thousands of dollars with a neurologist to learn even a fraction of these things that you teach us for free. 💜
    Edit: And thank you so much for including fundraisers. My local Epilepsy Foundation is able to offer emergency supplies of medication to people who lose their insurance or income because of things like this.

    6 hours of nighttime sleep sound too little for me 😂. At least i need 8 hours. And whenever i don't use an alarm i sleep for ten hours. That's the sleep i need to not feel exhausted the whole day.

    All my Neurologist retired. Since I hadn’t had one in under two years the last Neurologist said I’m not in dire need of a Neurologist so if I feel something is going on, I can talk with my nurse practitioner. My first Neurologist was around just long enough to diagnose that there was a problem. Yet nobody has sat down and explain what I was having and how to handle situations.

      Hi doc
      My brother is on zeptol, lacoset and frisium for almost 8 years now under a neurologist. I recently shifted to a place which is slightly cold. I have a heater in the patient's bedroom. Frequency of his seizures has slightly increased and i feel the drugs sometimes don't work. Can you suggest anything that can provide some relief. Out of all 5 points, I need to control his carb intake and will do so ASAP. Thank you

    Thank you for this doc. May I ask, how to avoid Status Epilepticus? Or what to do if there's a situation like that.
    My sister recently had status epilepticus (tonic clonic). She was incubated afterwards due to lack of oxygen.
    So having content like that would be beneficial for us if it will occure again to her.

      First is to treat the underlying epilepsy and second if seizures happen then you can give rescue treatment to stop it from getting too long which we explained in details in the video on seizure first aid

    Dr. Omar - in a previous video you talked about infection, bacteria as a "cause of seizure" - my son was diagnosed with SIBOS (small baterical overgrowth small intestines) - we didn't want to, knowing the risk of killing off good bacteria, did try a strong anti-bitotic, which did not kill off SIBOS, and they wanted to go stronger, yet we were not convinced enough with what they said to try again at the cost of even greater damage to his gut flora.... what do you know about SIBOS and epilepsy>??? I know of a couple other young adults with epilepsy who also have been diagnosed with SIBOS? thank you!

    So your saying basically we can't live normal lives. I mean come on the medicine has like the longest list of side effects ever. I turned 30 I can't even have sex or like a beer with a friend. Swear alcohol being legal is fucking bullshit. Seizure medicine makes me just feel not like myself and they wont even legalize weed. And your trying to talk about it like it doesn't just completely suck ass. Someone just tell me I'm not the only one who feels this way?

      I have epilepsy and do not identify myself as disabled. HOWEVER my seizures are controlled.
      (I am not a doctor) Many have uncontrolled epilepsy which is a disability as it impairs their ability to function. And can get benefits if they are unable to work.
      From a legal standpoint - epilepsy qualifies students and employees for disability accommodations, if recommended by a doctor. I recommend looking into these accommodations for school-age children and college students with epilepsy

  • @Erin____
    @Erin____ Год назад +1

    To any college students or professionals with epilepsy reading this:
    Do not stay up all night trying to finish that assignment! Talk to your professor/your boss. Ask for more time to work on it. Most will understand. You can get accommodations in school as well. Your health comes before your deadlines. EVEN IF you’d be getting paid overtime to finish that project.
