We're back on the scene, Jordan - watch out!!!!! Been a long hot Summer here but the rain and storms have just started so back to vids and catching up with all of you! We'll try and watch all your past vids that we've missed - it's something to do on the darker nights! The auction is amazing, all our local one's seem to have disappeared over recent years. Glad you've survived Summer and all the nasty stuff. Hope your family have too and are all thriving and doing well. Malc and Ann (England) UK xx
Great content as usual. Thanks again. You've been a real inspiration to me personally. When I started watching I had less than 10 chickens. Now I have 100 birds of 6 different species and I just bought my first 2 goats at my first auction. I'm hooked!
Sooooo, cuy. I've got a decent amount of experience raising cuy as small meat stock and secondarily as pets and feeders to sell. Raw pet food folks like cuy because it is generally well-tolerated even by animals with protein allergies (like chicken, beef, pork allergies) and nutritious. Reptile owners like any small rodent for pet food, and those that sometimes feed rabbits will also generally accept cuy. People like it as a small meat animal because it's more heat tolerant than rabbits, relatively hardy and disease free, easy and inexpensive to raise in adequate quantities (has a good feed to meat ratio), can do well on forage without purchased feed/grain, quiet and easy to house (either caged or open colony), tasty and versatile meat source, ease of harvest, comes in handy single serving sizes that (once spatchcocked) stack efficiently in the freezer. All around good choice for many situations where you want small meat stock but need to keep things on the downlow. I am in north Texas and the summers here are brutally hot and humid. Rabbits just have not done well for me outdoors here, though I had good experience with them further south where it was less humid. Here, cuy have done wonderfully outdoors all year round. A big dogloo stuffed with dry hay, kept insulated from wet ground, and protection from predators (hardware cloth enclosure like you'd use for chickens) have been sufficient in winter. They do not dig like rabbits. They don't much climb and can't really jump. Give them shade and a few dampish cool places in summer. They must have a source of vitamin C. Everything wants to eat cuy, rather like they want to eat chicken, so protect accordingly. They eat almost anything a rabbit or chicken eat, and do great on nothing but forage if you allow enough space. Their manure is comparable to that of rabbits. Cuy reproduce a bit slower than rabbits, but their young are born fully furred and eyes/ears open, able to eat solid food from the beginning. Selective breeding can very quickly increase the size of your animals and yield a much better product. Some breeders have been raising meat lines for decades. Most people start with animals sourced via the pet trade, but these meat lines can be sourced with a bit of work. There ARE a few folks who have imported a slightly different species/breed of cuy that is much larger and more utilitarian. I have zero experience with those animals, never even seen more than photos of them. Good luck with your quest to try cuy as a CCC. Be careful, because we all know who doesn't like people eating cute furry things.
Thanks for all the info! I don’t plan on raising them but they sound super hardy! I’m sure if I follow through and give it a try that I’ll get my share of blowback
There is a caged animal auction at Koskonogg Mo. this Saturday the 20th. They have one every first and third saturday. . At that sale the cages sell with the animal.
Had my first Amish auction Last night Aug 12 in Ky. Kind of disappointed, few small chickens and all Rabbits except onecpot bellied pig for 25 dollars. Very small mixed chickens I bought 7 at 1.25 each. Just wanted to buy something , wanted older close to laying hens They had Had none.
It's not just backlash but in reality when you clean these guys it's going to be hardly any meat in it trust me LOL that's all I'm going to say.. But if you feel like you really don't want it I would just turn around and just sell it if your kids don't want it sell it back Break Even or make a profit
I'm no expert for all the breeds, but I think I have to correct You at 9:40 - those are definitely not looking like Wyandottes, they should have a rose-comb and a much more rounded physique. More like the rose-comb Rhode-Island-Reds you showed around 7:20 ... Concerning the Guinea Pig ... it is more or less like with rabbits, some people see them as pets, some as food. It will most likely be tasty and keeping it alone would not be nice for the animal. I just expect the intention of the seller was to sell it as a pet and not food ...
The sellers intentions are a moot point at this juncture. Once he has sold the item, he no longer has any say in the disposition of the animal! Hard fact, but true!
Love the videos! If the kids don't know about the guinea pig yet you should definitely do a but, clean, and cook. If they do know you should keep it for them and wait until you can get another. Have to admit though, I would love to see a clean and cook on one. Keep up the awesome work!
You should take some time and clean up your property. It's so bad, your animals could get hurt on the junk and debris laying around. Not to mention possible rat infestation. How your animals don't get cut up feet/broken legs is a miracle. And please clean out cages and pens. I'll bet the amonia smell is overwhelming.
Hi I personally say: NO don't do that don't eat him poor "guinea pig" there is not much meat on him anyway ------- I thought the Canadians hatched then I hear that the female is dead, oh no , that's sad, now for that one, eat him or get him a female anyway, thanks a lot Jordan and all the best
Boy Burletoff: How do you know it would not taste good? Have you ever eaten one? In some cultures in Ecuador, they are one of the main sources of meat.
Why are you against eating the guinea pig ? Is it because it's cute? I don't see the difference between it or a rabbit. We should know if it tastes decent . never know might have to raise them in a shtf situation the way the world is going right now. Here in Canada they are working on bug factory's for protein because of "the carbon " large livestock gives off so if he does decide to do it maybe just skip that part of his video?

Love these videos! What time are you going to be at the game fair Sunday? My son wants to make sure to say hi this time.
Thanks!!!
I’ll be there all morning and most of the afternoon!
the cross breed gosling is gorgeous
I agree!!!!
$5-$12 for a pedigree Rex rabbit is a heck of a deal for a new breeder who’s just started
Definitely a steal!!!
Love the birds u were gifted and I love the looks of that hybrid Canada
The hybrid is definitely an interesting one!
Those black and white chickens are white faced spanish, I’ve seen them before many times at auctions but now they are rare
Nice looking bantams at the auction. Wish we had more in my area :/
I have a yard full of them but they don't come to auction much.

You never know what will be there! I remember when there was only 7 cages of stuff at ours one month!
Looks awesome & fun wished there were some near me would totally go see a few
It’s a good time!
Have you tried a hot wire around the top to keep them in? That's what we had to do.

Snowflake Bob whites look awesome 👌
I’d love to have some! I think they are outstanding birds!
You should make a few segments to the videos like waterfowl fur and chickens
You thinking that I should break the auction into species? 🤔🤔
I love small animal auctions and swap meets

Jordan you have asked for viewer requests. Could you please show more types of animals at the auctions?
I’ll see what I can do!

The smokie and red bob whites bro!!!
I’m all about the snowflake bobs dude! The red bobwhites though, they don’t trip my trigger
Hey Jordon haven’t seen the kids lately . Bet there there getting big . Need to do a catch and cook and have the kids do the taste test .
When I was in Ecuador I had it. Reminded me of rabbit. It was ok.
I figured it had to be close!
Enjoyed it Jordan and on the G.pig no let`s don`t cook it take it back and try to double your money.
🤙🤙
With it being a male, it could be hard to double up on. But it was only $2 so how hard could it be!
So sorry to hear you lost the female Canadian goose. What happen to her nest of eggs?
She hatched one! But it also didn’t make it 😕😕
The ones you said were rosecomb redd were buckeyes! I breed them
Interesting breed! I don’t have any experience with those at all!
Have fun in Minnesota
Will do!!!
Cui. Yes clean and cook
Do the cook, I've had it before back when I was in the army. It was very good
Good to know!!
You must go through a lot of feed!!
Ps those geese are noisy 😅
So, when you purchase a homing pigeon, and then take it home, when you let it out does it instantly fly back to the people who sold it to you?
It can! It depends a lot on if the bird was flown or not
I’m down for the catch clean cook but I must say if I was in your position I would just keep it as a pet, too much backlash lol
Lol! That’s the scales I’m trying to weigh on right now

I think you may be correct!!!
I think you should keep the guinea pig. It’s cute.
👍👍
They can put a reserve on animals? Like those peacocks.
For sure!!!
Man! How many animals do you have on your farm?
To many!
I working on thinning down the numbers!
