Pernell Sweet pea Whitaker was one hell of a boxer and I don't think he had any legitimately unquestionable losses. He arguably beat Julio Cesar Chavez and at least drew with Felix Trinidad. It's so darkly ironic how such a defensive wizard with so much heart, who could dodge everything, was run down by a careless heartless driver. Rest easy champ! That robbery against ramirez drained a little from him then the robbery against chavez was the proverbial nail in the coffin of his confidence & natural charisma. This man was one of the top 2 boxers of the 80s & a top 5 fighter in the 90s..those robberies affected his confidence & spirit even tho the physical skills were still there. It matters when your unbeaten record is stolen from you & your career affected unjustly through no fault of his own.
No telling where his legacy & career would've went by the decision makers getting those decisions right.

The robbery against Ramirez did nothing to Pernell. It actually made him a better fighter. He came back and won the rematch and continued to dominate pretty much his whole career. The questionable judging never regressed his fighting ability. He even became a more aggressive fighter later in his career.

One of the best to ever do it, they don't bring his name up when they talk about top 10 fighters of the past, pernell could do it all, started watching him in the early 90s, they need to start talking about this man more n giving him his props cuz he deserves it, a true goat, rip sweet pea u will never be forgotten.
