You don't have a lot of black male R&B artists out today. Now, Usher and Stokely are still putting music out, but a lot of these men have retired or are no longer with us. Oh, and in jail (R. Kelly).
THIS is why 90's music is still relevant & will remain the BEST era EVER! Pure Talent, Artists United, No Competition, all while speaking life into our culture. Take me back please!
Black Men United is not an official group but is a collective of some of the greatest male voices in R&B including Tevin Campbell, El Debarge, Christopher Williams, Brian McKnight, Gerald Levert, Stokely (of Mint Condition), Aaron Hall, Joe, the members of After 7 and Boyz II Men, that RKelly guy, among many others. They came together to record this inspirational song for the Jason's Lyric movie soundtrack. There is a video of them performing this Live somewhere on here. Classic song written by D"Angelo and his younger brother, Luther.
I LOVE THIS SONG. We had artists doing this a lot back in the day. Artists nowadays are too proud, "masculine", petty and selfish to do positive songs like this. There aren't even enough artists to do this. Nobody wants to share the spotlight. Besides Silk Sonic, are there any other groups? 😐 R&B needs to be revived. Dudes need to start singing in the rain, crying and grabbing the air again. 😂
black man should you unite stop killing each other black man lives are harder. some people expect for you to do worse and kill one another but you can be strong and come out of poverty you know u can standup and don't u fall
Love all these voices I can remember some of them lol Tevin Campbell, Gerald Levert,Elle Debarge,Stokley probably spelled that wrong lol lead singer from the group Mint Condition, lead from Tony Toni tone, Brian McKnight, Joe, Christopher williams,R Kelly, Aaron Hall, Kevon Edmonds... oh I was able to see back then so I’m just going off the voices I know oh yeah Keith Sweat lol
@@aaronfleming9830 Followed by Brian McKnight taking it home. What a track! Bought it on LP as a young man and listen to it today, to lift my spirits and keep me strong for my family (wife and two children). Every day I live the message in this song.
One of my favorites..loved Jason's Lyric!!!! This song is needed today still!!!! Our black men need to be encouraged every day!!!!! Love it!!!! And these are classic singers Stokley from Mint Condition..El Debarge, Gerald LeVert...the list goes on and on....singers!!
Now you need to react to “Freedom” the theme from the movie Panther which is about the rise and fall of The Black Panthers. It’s a collection of female artists.

Jason’s Lyric is the movie…..awesome movie…..song has a powerful message that the young people need to hear…..BMU is it a group…..it was different men artist that came together to do this song showing unity
Tevin Campbell, Geral levert, Raphael Seydic, Brian McNight, The lead singer of Mint Condition, Boyz ll Men, Keith sweat, Christopher Williams, Aaron Hall. That’s all I caught. Sorry I recognize a lot of them but I can’t remember all of there names. But this song brings back so many memories. I didn’t watch Jason’s Lryic, because at that time I couldn’t watch Black movies anymore because usually they were sad. But I loved this song that was apart of the sound track. It was a very uplifting song. And they just came together for this song I believe. Remember this was like 93’ or 94’ a lot was going on in our community, I believe this was after the million man march and the million woman march. There was push for ending violence and unification in the Black communities around the country.
Yes. When men in America was faced with alot. But reacted positive. Not sitting on platforms bashing n bitching about things. They empowered men thru art. Still wonderful to see😍
Wow, Tevin Campbell. Haven't heard from TC in a while. Great voices. Some of the lead vocals sound familiar also. Great Reaction. Thanks so much. YOU WILL KNOW!😎👍
Wow your reaction to this song by BMU😊🥰🖤🥰 Made me smile with joy !! Di Angelo, wrote that song for The Movie Jason's Lyric starrrig Carl Paine, Bokeem Woodbine and Jada Pincket and more👍👍There needs to be a reboot of this song for today👈✌️🖤💪Be safe out there going and coming !!

That a capella part at the end ALWAYS gives me some tears!!! Ill be sharing the original on my fb page! AGAIN!!! BLACK MEN UNITED, BABY!!❤️🔥🎶✊️❤️🔥🎶✊️

When they ask if R&B is dead, I can point to this example of when it was thriving. And this is just the men. Now, you can’t put together a group of artists that came out within the last 7-10 years that can sing like this. Just a bunch of mediocre or sub-mediocre vocalists, with very few exceptions. I miss this era.

It was common in the 80’s and 90’s for multiple artists to get together on a track for a positive cause. It’s sad you don’t see this anymore.
Exactly it's tragic
Literally R&B music wasn't all about getting panties wet, but the message within the song
Miss the 80s and 90s!
Now these artists are so locked-into their contracts I’d bet something like this is hard to accomplish. Plus radio stations don’t really play collabs.
You don't have a lot of black male R&B artists out today. Now, Usher and Stokely are still putting music out, but a lot of these men have retired or are no longer with us. Oh, and in jail (R. Kelly).
