Since we're in the year 2019 going on to 2020 (this was taped in 1994/1995), I noticed a lot of the comments saying how we will never get something like this gem of a live performance again. If they ever have an opportunity to put another performance like this where all the current male soul/R&B artist and group get together, who do you have in mind? Miguel? Luke James? Ro James? Chris Brown? Musiq Soulchild? Ginuwine? Tank? I'm just naming these at the top of my head, hehe... GO!!!
Any of these originals still living need to be right back in contention. Chris Brown is a poor choice for black equality IMO considering his behaviour, but he is a great singer, granted. Honestly, look at who is in this video. The absolute OG's of old school new-jack, soul or RnB. They simply do not make singers like this any more. Ray-J, Mario and Bobby V? Maybe Lloyd? Before he went pop tart he might have been in with a shout. Jagged Edge, Dru Hill, Next, New Edition, Boyz ii Men? They're all the OG's, probably prominent at the era this was made, but still didn't make the cut. Bone Thugz should have been in this one to be honest. You need to remember, it's not just about the singer, it's about their impact on society and changing the perception of black men and their culture. Anything current, honestly, doesn't do that. I say this as white-male, who is a massive fan of black RnB, so i may be wrong - prove it to me.

Might be the only white male to comment but i dont give a damn and cant help what my soul feels when it comes to this song, absolutely love it !! one of my favorite songs still to this day !!! all of the talent on that stage is phenominal, but the song written by D'Angelo is a damn masterpiece, wish we could have a part 2 to this song, if this song doesnt move you, you have freaking problems, and te artists should have booed the audience, but the men on stage are as classy and so respectable they turned to the other cheek , the audience had no damn clue what was in front of them, BMU,you did an incredible job and i wished they're was more almost 30 years later, love it !!!
I might be the only white female commenting but damn… mankind needs this!!!
Amen

Listening to this song February 18, 2023 and it's still very relevant. So Blessed and Proud to be BLACK and BEAUTIFUL! 🙏🏽💫♥️
Noticed how no one would stand except black entertainers ..mmmm 🤬pitiful...
Right!!!😏
I would have stood up and clap it was great and still is I listen to it every night cuz I love my Melvin and Kevon to.
That audience didn't know what they had up there!
I'm sorry yall, but Stokely snatched my entire existence.
Me too!
TEVIN ATE EVERYONE ON THAT STAGE UP
Can’t say that Gerald levert did his thing. His voice brought that balance to tevin Campbell part. Gerald voice brought a more mature blend. I thought Gerald was about to go to church on them.....lol. The run that joe did was nice
Tevin, Joe and Gerald were standouts!! Too bad they turned Chris Williams mike off - he can blow too!!👊🏾
@@derrickcarson2560 Absolutely,... Lol... Gerald DID go to Church on them!!! Priceless...
It was El Debarge's reaction to Tevin, you better sing boy
He did...lol Effortlessly too...lol
This Will Never Get Old ☺️🌻💕🌹💜🙏
Yes.
Never Get Old
Never ever ❤❤❤
Man...where have all the black singers gone in 2019? 😢
Tjay 000 I agree but Usher is the real deal.
@@jeromeb4396 Gallant sound 1000x better than usher!! Plus usher is a sucker.
@Tjay 000 I love Usher he is still true R&B, there are some dope male singers they very underrated Anderson Paak, Miguel, Lucky Daye, Ro James, John Legend, and etc.
Johnny Gill, joe , Brian McKnight still have some somewhat recent albums but overall most RnB is gone :( and yo usher is a dang beast 😂 what you talking bout
@@jeromeb4396 Usher was on this video he a true R&B artist
Gerald took us to church
Didn't he. YESSS
I was today years old when I found out D'Angelo wrote this incredible song. What an immense talent!
Truly immense 😊
I can't believe I've never seen this before. This was really good!
Usher: “Y’all listen to this run I hit”
Tevin Campbell: “Oh yeah, I can hit that same run, but in a higher octave, and hold it longer.”
Tevin: Oh yeah, watch this...
Lol
All them KINGS up there singing ✊✊
This will probably never happen again 😔
I really missed old days so much
The amount of RIP's in this is sad (Dino - H-town, Gerald & Sean - Levert, Melvin Edmonds - After 7, Kenny Greene - Intro(Italian Flag \i think Green suit next to D'angelo on piano)
So proud make me want to cry powerful
Seriously it’s sad
Yes Kenny G Love Green was next to D'angelo in the green suit and in the video for the song he was also but his hair was bleached blonde on top.
Gerald's death laid me out all day the day he transitioned...only 40. He & the others are in a far better place.😞😔😖😭😲
@@cupcakejonez7923 very sad and ironic that both Sean and Gerald have passed but their daddy, Eddie is still alive and singing those classic Ojays' hits!
I don't care how many times I see this it still moves me!!! All this chocolate goodness Tevin, B. McKnight, Stokely, Joe, DeBarge, Levert......so proud to be BLACK!!!!
💯💯💯
Awesome performance.
Well done!!!
Lil usher
Not Brian McKnight 😭
Say loud girl ❤️👍 Chocolate goodness 💯❤️ 🔥
Bryan McKnight looking like a choir director
hahaha I was thinking tbe same
Ashanti Johnson lol
Ashanti Johnson while stealing JOE's runs.
Todd Maek 🤔whattt? Joe sang R Kelly’s part lmao. Brian sang his own part. Did you listen to the original recording lol
@@mayiborrowadollar Usher and Joe sung R. Kelly's part, like Melvin Edmonds sung his own and Keith Sweat's, I don't think R. Kelly, Keith Sweat & Raphael Saadiq was there that night
Beautiful And Black ❤
We couldn't do this today mainly because there's not enough r&b talent .....how many people would be on the stage? Maybe one or two....if that many.....I love this song and unity!!!!
Facts
That is hilarious. There is no talent today. Look at the lead tevin. Fuckin raw talent
SprayWayCustoms Actually, a lot of the original singers are still alive and we have a lot of new, great talented singers as well. So, yes we could and should do this again, especially in these tragic times right now.
That’s just dumb if you really believe there’s not enough R&B artist to do this.!
Ciaran Moran ..agreed. boyz II Men, brian, usher, rude boys, joe..truly awesome. None can beat them till today. Just an honest speaking. Hope its not too loud 🤗🤗
Tevin Campbell really really stand out here...he is so good...he could have been so popular if he had the support he needed back then...he was a true talent...still is...
Such a great voice Tevin Campbell had and Dino rip from H-TOWN I was surprised to see H-TOWN in the video
Song sounded great live😎
And Usher was NOT ready to hang with Tevin! lol
MJ Zoom Oh yes Tevin will sing Usher under the table back then & now he was nobody to fuck with in the 90's
Jake Ain't that the truth they can sing up high, he's way beyond High naturally
Still knot ready
MJ Zoom never
MJ Zoom but usher is still here
Tevin Campbell was just a cub surrounded by lions .....he looked so innocent here....even though I'm a R Kelly fan,I give credit where it's due...the guy is honestly talented..🇿🇦❤️
That damn Tevin KILLED IT... He was the male VOICE in the industry period... He was the male Whitney Houston.
R.I.P. GERALD LEVERT
I cry to this day listenin to Gerald
That Tevin Campbell is something else ! Them vocals 💗💗
Heck yeah! Proud to be black!Coming from a BLACK WOMEN that raised 2 BLACK SONS!
Usher jumped on that mic like it was a damn grenade. And I'm mad after all that snatching he had the nerve to hit every single note but the right one.
+Treasure Evolution ikr! Lol, I'm glad that I wasn't the only one who saw that, too. It's like, if u're gonna show out, then @least do it correctly pls...too funny!
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Treasure Evolution 😂😂😂 he got some nerves

My man Stokley always 🔥 and Tevin.... Well he was a seperate universe🔥🔥
*Soooo nobody else gna talk about how Tevin Campbell showed out and SANG!!!! Done threw my shoe cross the room😄..🗣️YOU BETTA SAAAANG TEV!!!!
