NO DOWNS! That's the most basic thing to know coming from NFL. Play is continuous until someone scores or infringes and causes a penalty. The rules after a tackle are quite complicated, but the basics are: - Tackler has to let go of the ball - People can only play the ball if they first push the other team off it. Only players on their feet can participate in this mini wrestling match. At 14:37 the defending player number 2 managed to get over the ball and stop the attacking player from releasing the ball, this caused a penalty and got the defending team out of jail.

The idea is To push the other team off the ball. If the ball goes out of bounds, the game restarts with a Line Out. The forwards jump to compete for the ball. The Locks and the Flankers are normally the tallest players in the team. It is their job to take the ball in the line out. In rugby the number denotes a position. Not a specific player. The object is to ground the ball behind the oppositions try line. This is called a Try (5 points). The. The scoring team attempts to “Convert” the try by kicking the ball between the posts for 2 more points. You can also kick a “ Penalty” for 3 points, or, a “drop goal” for 3 points.
