And how would you know that? What could possibly be scary about saving a child's life? You think maybe he's afraid of water, perhaps? Or children? Pool chemicals? The 10 gallons of urine in the pool?
My first year as a lifeguard in Pennsylvania back in 2017 I saved two patrons one time in the deep end ..the first ever that was also caught on camera.. the company was very amazed with what happened and my quick response. That year I prevented 6 patrons from drowning all being kids. It’s a very rewarding job and teaches a lot too
This is a great story! I manage a public pool in Medford, Wisconsin and so far, we (The Lifeguards) have rescued well over 30 people)! I’m glad some Lifeguards are getting some sort of recognition for the tireless/stressful work they do on a daily basis!
Stephen Alvarado no what their trying to say is he saved a life not he didvhis job i mean its just the news by the its like youtube we all like it at some point so we wish to be on it but you work hard for fixing the video up and he worked hard for and in the end it payed off so stop being negative and cheer up we need positive people in this world not peopl hating like if you agree and subscribe to me
wow im suprised he wasn't arrested for assaulting that boy in the water *sarcasm i was referencing the another life guard that saved a life but was arrested for it.
Ive been a lifeguard for 0ver thirty years> worked pools, water parks, and natural waterfronts. Ive had 9 fully active rescues. Ive worked from West Texas to Newport Beach CA and every place in between, NN, NV, and AZ. NINE active rescues.
What's up with all the salty lifeguards in the comments? You're ALL doing a great job saving people. There's no need to be jealous of a 15 year old boy. Him getting on the news doesn't mean your own efforts aren't recognised.
Kylee 59533 gud thing he wasn't he would be dead because he's male and there duties were to put as many as possible but not them selves plus he was scared for this one kid think about a whole ship of people he would be terrified
I like this kid. That's how it is. My younger sister was a lifeguard after myself. My mom taught special needs, but it was in a normal class of kids when she had to give the Heimlich Maneuver to a boy that started choking on candy. They both cried after it was over.
*works in grocery store* -scans customers first grocery item on my first day of work - - calls mom omg I just scanned a grocery item- *gets put on the news* Me: so yeah I didn't expect to scan a grocery item on my first day of work it was crazy I was in shock and shaking on my first day
@@SouthernIowaLady back when I was doing part time lifeguard work in summer break for high school. I had got a jump scare from a kid popping his head up and out of the water... I never saved anyone from the water before this, I panicked and flung my entire body into the pool and grabbed this kid and brought him up the nearest ledge just for this kid to laugh and giggle the words "i was just kidding" then runs off I had to find the parent which was no where to be seen and kick them all out of the public pool.
To all the negative people who have commented, would you be so bold to make the same remarks to the four year old's parents? For the lifeguard, well done sir, well done!
The year I worked as a lifeguard summer of 2016 my waterpark/pool had approximately 54 saves in the summer season. It does happen more than someone thinks.
I used the Heinlich manuvere on a woman in the ofc. She'd run into a teeny tiny powder room when she started choking. I could barely squeeze in there to apply the technique. Just like the lifeguard, I felt very good that she lived and I was able to help. I'm now 68 and still remember that back in 1987.
Been a lifeguard for over a decade... made countless rescues in that time... people i work with have done the same going in first day... point is we dont even so much as get a thank u most of the time never mimd being on the news... fair play to him but omg must have been fuck all going on in the world that day for this to make the news
20 minutes into my first life guarding shift a little 2 year old girl feel in the deep end and sunk right to the bottom of the pool. 12 feet. I jumped in saved her. She smiled and laughed at me and I quit 20 minutes later
Not too long ago I had to save a girl's life I had just gotten into the wave pool it was fun so far jumping up and down I've had some close calls with the wave pool but none too serious, well that day I was jumping up and down. and earlier that day I saw a four-year-old boy get rescued so I thought hey well if it happened once It can't happen twice but I was so very wrong. while I was jumping up and down I saw this girl she couldn't touch the bottom of the floor when I looked under water so I started screaming at the Lifeguard help help but she couldn't hear me so I had to swim over there which I couldn't touch the ground either . and I grabbed her arm and I said okay are you okay but then I realized she can't talk she was drowning so I said I'll tell you when to go up when the waves go up and I'll tell you when to go down when the waves go down. And she listened to me and she got out safely I didn't get any reward for it but I what i got was happiness to know that she's okay and safe with her family now
Idk why this is getting so much hate, be happy for him for getting on the news and saving a 4 year old, don't hate on him for getting on the news and say "he was only doing his job"
Oh wow, did the job he was trained and suppose to do so much wow, clap clap, oh wow so crazy amazing. Someone doing a job they are hired for oh my. Amazing so cool

Lol yes, i wasnt being sarcastic or anything
i’m so scared of being a lifeguard. i spend everyday on stand with my heart clenched.
It’s actually good to be a bit nervous because you’re paying attention! If you’re scared you’re doing a great job!
actually its normal to be scared a lil bit but stay focus
and ALWAYS DO YOUR SCAN
I’m just now seeing this in my feed. This is outstanding!!! This is so great! I hope this young man is doing great today!
wow a lifeguard did his job put him on the news!!!!
