    I met Jon Pertwee in 1993. He was such a nice man. A good actor. A good comedian. The first Doctor Who I ever got a autograph from.

    It's been 21 years now since we lost Jon Pertwee. I wish he'd lived long enough to see Doctor Who's revival in 2005, I think he would have been proud. A very talented and much-missed actor. 😢

      He died just three years before the start of Big Finish. It would have been incredible to have Jon Pertwee in some Big Finish.

      I dread it too. The only other time I cried over a TV star was in 2012 when Larry Hagman who played JR Ewing on Dallas passed away. He passed on the 23rd November 2012 too, Doctor Who's anniversary date which upset me even more. I love both Doctor Who & Dallas.

    Jon’s role as the third incarnation of Dr Who is more & more appreciated as time marches on. R.I.P, my absolute favourite Doctor.

    I was totally heart broken when i found that Jon had died, i loved all his tv shows that he did, what a remarkable man Jon was! He is my all time favourite actor & always will be.

    I was in a shop and I heard the news on the radio. I couldn't be absolutely 100% certain of what I had heard... so I actually ran home and phoned the BBC. They confirmed it. It was a very sad day. I remember it as if it was yesterday.

    He was given a summerlong gig at the Liverpool Garden Festival in the early 80's as Worzel. He would just buzz around on a 3 wheeled motorbike stopping and chatting to vistors. So accessible and friendly. Seems to have been a really nice bloke.

    So glad I got to live on the earth at the same time as this wonderful gentleman.
    He truly made the role the popular culture icon that it has become. And to create another iconic character for Worzel Gummidge. :) Rest In Peace Jon Pertwee.

    Happy 100th Jon. Such a great actor, and a large part of Doctor Who, as well as Worzel Gummidge, Carry On and his guest appearance in The Goodies. He was my childhood, and I still miss him.

    Just a few days later, on Spring Bank Holiday, the Doctor Who TV Movie staring Paul McGann was screened. Difficult to believe that 20 years have passed, oh for a Time Machine.

      And what's even sadder, Jon and Sylvester were interviewed and they were told about an upcoming doctor who movie. Both said they would watch it. And Jon died days before the movie aired...😢😭

      I thought the TV Movie got it’s premier stateside weeks ahead of the UK, hence why there would be no dedication on the US broadcast.

    Jon Pertwee Death was announce on ITV News at Ten 7 days before the fail American Doctor Who movie was Broadcast on BBC1 on Bank Holiday Monday on 27th of May 1996, I remember BBC1 Paying tribute to Jon Pertwee at the end of the movie. Sad indeed.

    It is so sad that he died. I remember him for his role of Spotty on Superted, and at 2:21 it's not everyday you get to see Worzel Gummidge and Goofy together.

    I was only about 11 when he died, but thanks to my mum who grew up watching him, I myself grew up watching his episodes and was always enthralled by his James Bond style at playing the Doctor

    I remember this report so well. Jon Pertwee was my first Doctor along with Jo Grant! He'd have loved todays Doctor Who. I wonder what he would have made of Jodie Whittaker as The 13th Doctor

    I wqs in my mothers womb on this day in 96. Pertwee is the best doctor after baker in my opinion. Crazy all the things the happened the year i was born. Doctor who movie came out 1996 too.

      It's only 5 years if you ignore the fact months exist. January 1970 - June 1974 is roughly 4 and a half years. Also seasons 10 and 11 started in 1972 and 1973 respectively.
