      @@turterrian4501 How is this clickbait? Clickbait is when a Title or thumbnail shows or says something that is misleading or irrelevant to the video in an attempt to gain views and/or money. (from monetization) EDIT: Care to explain? But yes the thumbnail wasn't On point, but it still technically was relevant.

      That's because, in general, companies don't really give 2 shits about the pirating for various reasons, first of all being that they score shitloads of money nonetheless...All the anti piracy policy is more just something between the lines of "let's try to make a protection system good enough for us to be able to sell an X amount of copies before the pirates can break it". No sane person would ever think that piracy can be beaten, if a program (and a game is a program) can be made, then it also can be unmade, rewritten, broken, etc. Take denuvo for example...yes, it took like forever but eventually games protected by it got pirated. Plus, pirating is good business for companies aswell, cause if somebody likes the shit out of a game AND has the money to buy it, they'll do it.If I'm not pirating and I'm somewhat unsure of the quality of the game, i just won't buy it cause fuck me, 60$ maybe is dispensable money in the US, but not everybody from around the world can afford to pay that for a game. I don't see many companies making demo versions of the games anymore so that somebody with a med-spec pc can try it to see if it WORKS on their machine before throwing in, what, 60 bucks? To realise that the game doesn't work. And don't say that the companies give info regarding min specs cause that's bullshit. Why? Cause a regular person is likely to not be able to see the difference between video cards, processors, etc. A lot of my friends who play computer games usually compare GPU's by the amount of RAM they have, which is total and utter bullshit as that's not the most important factor in rating a GPU. They say you need gtx 670 and you have a R9, now you have to search for benchmarks (assuming you know what that is ofc) and try to rank your GPU to see if it's above the required or below the required. Also, sites like canyourunit can be misleading in many cases, but i'm drifting away from the topic. All in all, piracy is there and will be there doing it's part for the community.

      jocaguz18 'Most'? No, not in the 1st world where copyright is respected. Even China has given up and now sell from official sources for their video games from console manufacturers and licensed copyright games. The Chinese public are merely still going to pirate games regardless because of the great wealth disparity there and it's general prevalence over the past few decades.
      It's no wonder those countries that ignore copyright are lacking in many original quality games. Providing no legal power or financial incentive for creative works or original designs leaves many software developers with no reliable means of income if stealing their game is so easy and double when it has no creative protection.

      You can shout rehashed insults all you want, but at the end of the day activision is fucking consumers hard. Seriously all the call of duty games have nearly 200 dollars worth of shitty dlc. If they released them as expansion packs instead of little bits at a time that'd be fine but they expect like 2 bucks for a gun recolor. Thats absurd and an unnecessary cash grab. Iscajume is right as well. There have been games with DRM that has actually fucked over people who paid for the game, Sim City and Diablo 3 come to mind having actually stopped players from being able to play. Its the same deal with dvds. Why would I pay for a movie that has unskippable ads for 5 minutes instead of downloading it for free and not having to deal with that.

    How funny would it be if you pirate PaRappa the Rapper 3, all the characters have diverse accents:

    Sunny Funny: Italian accent (Male voice)
    Katy Kat: Chinese accent
    Lammy: Australian accent
    Sweetie Bancha: Russian accent
    Pinto: German accent
    Plus, when you complete the game and get to the end of the credits, there will be three different after-credit cutscenes depending on your save file:
    Save file 1: PJ telling you how much of a cheapskate you are, saying that the game only costed $40.
    Save file 2: Sunny Funny telling you that you're smart enough to copy the game onto your console, but dumb enough to not actually buy the game from the store.
    Save file 3: PaRappa telling you that you really screwed up now and that he wouldn't have that annoying accent if you didn't pirate the game.

If the pirated version has issues within the first week or two of launch, potential customers will be more likely to just buy the game, and those first two weeks are incredibly important for game releases. After that, its free game for the pirates, no pun intended.

      Brett- If a game isn't worth buying it shouldn't be worth pirating either. It's either entertaining or i'ts not.
      Teensier- Money doesn't make games good. Plenty of games from 20 years ago have great stories. Bad writers and programmers make games bad, and money won't fix that

    • @Tanis031
      @Tanis031 8 лет назад +1

      Actually. I'd agree that micro transactions justify piracy, or at least hacking the game, depending. "It costs 5 bucks. Ok I'll buy a 5 dollar game. Sold! But wait now to actually PLAY the game I have to pay 50 dollars more? Time to pirate."
      If it's full game for full price. I don't pirate. If it's full game for a low price with some minor (cosmetic or quality of life) micro transactions. I don't pirate. If it's a full game + MASSIVE amounts of micro transactions I pirate (or hack it). If they sell it cheap and then use micro transactions to 'make up the difference'. I hack it or pirate.
      Its like I only pirate or hack once they screw me. Weird right? I know I know. I'm scum regardless. I'm fine with it.

I pirated Doom to make sure my PC could run it because the recommended specs and sites like "canyourunit" always seem to be wrong for me. It'll say I can't run it when I can and vice versa. "pirating is stealing"
    Alright, I don't fully support pirating or really do it myself anymore, but pirating is NOT stealing.
    I'm tired of people going like "YOU WOULDN'T STEAL A CAR WOULD YOUUUU?"
    Pirating is a digital copy of something. It does not physically STEAL anything from the dev.
    And people who pirate games usually aren't in a position to buy games in the first place. So that sale, that was apparently "stolen" wouldn't have happened in the first place.
    Plus people use pirating as a demo as well, demos are simply not made as much anymore.
    And yes, there are people who just pirate and can afford games. They are douchebags, but that is a low percentage in the pirating community.

    I like how the game companies deal with piracy in this cases , no suing just saying "you are bad person" but I think the question could be why they actually pirated the game ? Few of my friends just don't have 50 Euro to buy new game like GTA so I think if some of them lowered the price (tube tycoon is just like 10 eu so it's cheap, but COD or GTA are 50) more people would buy games legally . One big plus of buying original games is that you get multiplayer and don't need to deal with cracks or activation patches . Another thing is that 2nd sellers sites like G2a or Kinguin could extinct which could lead to even more profit for game cmakers . Just Make game like 30-40 eu on pre-order and you'll be fine .P.S. DLC shouldn't be more expensive than original (like skyrim)

      @rivihk7304 8 лет назад

      And I understand it perfectly but seeing that lowering the cost with 10 bucks or euro(so the game would be like 40 ) could make them even more profitable because more people would be likely to buy the game from them and not from sites like g2a or referbished second hand ( or pirate and don't give them a single greenie) it would be just more likely to be bought and no pirated

      besides most people who pirated games did so because they played lots of games and were mostly kids. Those people grew up to be the adults who are literally keeping the gaming industry afloat today. Also maybe if game studios made their games more accesible people wouldn't pirate. Take steam for example how much of a difference it has made and how much more successful it is at stoping piracy compared to companies distributing games on physical media

    Honestly, I know that sometimes, you can't just go out and spend money you don't have on an expensive game. Devs should consider this too, because not every pirate steals the game, plays it, and never goes back to consider buying it to support the dev. Now, I know quite a few people in the comments have probably done some pirating, and I have too, but at least I make sure to support the devs by buying a copy of their game.

      You can always exchange that game for another one later. I mean, not sure where you live, but if I can do that in my backwoods shitty country, I'd be surprised if you couldn't. Many used game stores provide such a service, and it's easier and cheaper to just exchange the games you don't like or don't play anymore than constantly buy new ones.

      In that case they'd just watch a video. Only thing anti piracy like that would do is reduce the amount of people exposed to your game. and given that legit customers would get screwed over too, they'd just pirate it, and probably stop buying your games after a while because of the shit they deal with trying to get them to work.

      It'll always be a thing. Shame on publishers/developers that blame pirates for poor sales though. Generally, the more successful a game is the more it will be pirated. Games selling poorly, sell poorly regardless of piracy. But generally, the more piracy there is the better a product is doing.

    • @SifArtorias
      @SifArtorias 8 лет назад

      Often times, people who pirate games would never buy it anyways. And if they think the game is worth it (ie, because of online reasons or just because it's a really really good game), they'll purchase it off of steam or gog or whatever. I guess I'm speaking mostly of PC games but console games can also be pirated, albeit with modifications required to the console. You just see it less cause most people who play console don't feel like modding their machine.
      I've pirated many games, those that I enjoyed I bought, those that I disliked I uninstalled already. As I would return the game with the receipt.

    pirating is bad, I understand dev's rage. But I don't know if being harsh on anti-pirating is good for the franchise. I had pirated some games before, some I liked, and then later on I bought the game, or bought its sequel to support the dev. Had I been stopped from play the game the first place, I might just not buy the game at all. Maybe some people who really likes the game and can't get a pirated copy will be forced to buy it, but maybe they will just simply not play it. It's hard to say.

Had they been denied access the first place, they would just never turn into a real buyer.
