Now it's time to invest some time and build a manual curved one. The construction isn't to hard, you just have to buy quite a few bearing, some good wood for construction, two rubber strips then cut, sand and paint some boards. I'm curious if you could actually use it while programming if the speed will be slower and naturally adjustable, because when you walk on a curved treadmill you can stop anytime you want to think about something.
dude!! you're really good at making videos. i randomly came across this when doing research on portable treadmills and i'm so glad i did, this is great. love the way this video was produced!
I've had the maksone treadmill for about 6 months now. In the beginning i couldnt really function while walking on it. I realized that i just had my speed set way too high. I set it to a very casual walk, and now i don't even notice walking anymore in the morning. I drink my coffee and then set up my treadmill and walk from 8-noon every day. I recommend buying indoor treadmill only shoes, so you dont ruin all your socks. I get about 7k steps on it daily =) sometimes when i do difficult tasks that require full concentration i have to stop the treadmill - you know when you have to turn down the car volume so you can see while parking ;D
That is so awesome. I'd love to get to the point of hitting 7,000 steps from the treadmill - I'm going to try your idea of really going slow. Also your analogy about turning the volume down while parking really hit home :)
I live my under desk treadmill. Mine was under $200. And has more speed then I need. In a month having it I have dropped 5lbs and walk for two 1 hour sessions a day while working. I have no issues doing email, meetings and other tasks.
@Dream-bc8el - The simple reason is in how RUclips algorithm works. He’s got amazing production quality, but I’m assuming he’s not ready to commit to publishing consistently yet. He’s done 6 or so videos and some shorts in the past year and although they are excellent, he would need to increase rate his of publishing, maintain a consistent schedule, and get more content on his channel. Also, he hasn’t narrowed down to a specific subject/niche so it may take a bit longer. Nevertheless he did gain one subscriber today ✋🏽😀
why do we need subsribe? if we subscribe all good quality content then which videos will we see ? We subscribe best of the best. I do not have time to see even my few subscritions I have .
I think it's the small text size combined with motion while walking that cause the motion sickness. I already have the walking pad and considering to purchase the adjustable desk. But I think I'll just keep my working and walking separated. I'm also one of those who get motion sickness when reading book on the bus.
Very reasonable overview my friend, thank you. I just got one about a month ago and do 4 to 5 miles per day on it while working. Game changer for me. I never used to sit but this makes standing feel like sitting now.
The first few weeks were rough as I managed to get thrown off a few times. I found that once I got used to walking at my desk, I was actually more zoned in when I wrote code. Part of that is the movement keeping my ADHD in check, but I honestly enjoyed it. It's a lot harder to keep at it now that I am in a hybrid working situation.
Man, you're good at making videos. Totally feel ya on the walking commute thing. Keep making more vids! They're enjoying to watch. I can totally relate to this one!
Simple and direct message. I like it. Cool treadmill

Hey Steve! I love the content you're making! It's just transparent and honest! Thank you for sharing your review and opinion about the underdesk treadmill!!
We are the same person living in another dimension. - used to walk more - moved, had family, started working from home, walk less, gained weight - considering walking treadmill - make videos Etc Love the vibe of this video. Found you through your update short on this video. I may still buy one during prime day cuz I’m going crazy after working from home for 100 days.
Amazing video quality, set-up and presentation. I can't believe you only have 1.27k subscribers, keep it up! I hope good things in RUclips are in your future!
I'd set not a "steps goal", but a "mode goal". When you commute, you walk faster. Your heats beats the other way. You are not trying to do something at the same time. And then you feel refreshed. It's another mode of walking. I also have a walking treadmill in my room. I watched this video while walking at 3.7 mph. I feel refreshed now :-) So if you still have it - it might be a good idea to change the walking mode. And change the goal to "for X minutes per day to be in THAT walking mode".
The reason no weight was lost with the treadmill exercises was because it was not being done at a high enough intensity. What's actually needed is a high intensity interval training program. So you start slow and then increase your speed incrementally over time, until you're doing a final 30-second burst of sprinting at 95% to 100% of your maximum heart rate. In fact if you only do this 30-second burst once every 2 days (or three times a week), it will allow any calorie deficit you're enforcing to do it's job by preventing your body from going into starvation mode and slowing your metabolism as a result of eating fewer calories. So by keeping your metabolism high through this effect called "excess post-exercise oxygen consumption" (EPOC), aka the "afterburn effect", your body continues to burn calories at an elevated rate even after you've finished exercising.
You can lose weight from doing this (especially 10k steps a day), it’s all about the food. You don’t need to do high intensity (hiit) to lose weight. Technically you can be sedentary and lose weight as it’s all about calories
@@gingerperksgaming The problem with trying to lose weight through a caloric deficit only, is that your body goes into starvation mode in an effort to conserve energy and it slows down your metabolism so you you'll then burn fewer calories at rest. And when you start eating normally again, because your metabolism has slowed down, it then takes a while to re-adjust back to normal, so your regular caloric intake will then make you put back all the weight you've lost. Furthermore, without adequate protein intake or strength training, your body will also start breaking down muscle tissue for energy, so about a third of your weight loss will be muscle tissue with the other two thirds being fat. This further decreases your metabolic rate because muscle tissue burns more calories than fat. Therefore the only way to keep your metabolism high is through doing cardio and strength training and . And that way it allows the caloric deficit to do it's job and all of the weight you lose will be fat and not muscle tissue.
Great quick video steve! I've been rocking the standing bike and I never really had a problem with motion sickness. But similar gripes with pain in my hands from awkward positioning.
@@mk46_mk46 You mean where he set up the premise to the video, the reason he got a treadmill desk? The average video length on RUclips is 11 minutes, so yeah this is on the quicker end.
I’ll never be able to justify buying a treadmill like this or the more standard ones. But I liked this video and found it very interesting, the music was an excellent choice.
Nice video, gave you an extra sub. I like the Neistat style of editing and filming. Walking is always a plus point especially in your daily movement. The rule 10k a day gives you so much health benefits.
Great video! informative and honest. Hit all the points I was curious about. I thought I’d have to watch a few videos to make a decision but this one took the cake !

also i work at a battery store and you shouldnt have to replace your lithium remote battery that often, make sure you don't buy them from supermarkets as they are often expired, they should be at least 3.13 volts with a multimetre
im starting my office work treadmill journey myself...the gear should be here Sunday...working from home in an area with alot of rain has been havoc....you're video editing/shot placement skills are top notch..easily this could be a Netflix original haha
I initially thought I needed one, but I forgot I had a stationary cardio bike in my garage, and surprisingly, it fits under my standing desk. I don't know how much better this is instead of the walking pad, but since I am simply sitting down, it makes it easier to spend more time on it. I do have to agree on the tasks you can realistically do while doing some sort of movement. I think it just comes down to how much you have to concentrate on that task. I mostly use mine when I feel like watching youtube haha.
That's so interesting. A friend of mine also swears by his stationary bike. I'll have to try one. If I could do it without getting nauseous than that would be a big win!
Hello and thank you for the video. I might be late but anyways, I know how you can do the tasks that you can not do while walking. Turn it off and lower your desk to this position 5:36 . This is also a trend, solution to counter the sitting habit. Have a good day.
Emails and Meetings are perfect for a walking pad, usually anything more complicated than that and I can't focus so I tend to make it part of my start of the day or end of the work day when I have time to do that.
Get a smartwatch. That's how you get addicted to getting your steps in every day. Also switch the way you think about it. Instead of trying to work while on a treadmill, try to get your steps in the treadmill while knocking some of your work done. The treadmill desk is also best when trying to do something for leisure like browsing the web or videos where you don't have to concentrate too hard.
USE 2 MICE! I have for decades. Giving your dominant hand a rest even 20-30% of the time makes a difference. Over time it's easy and intuitive. I'm right handed, and use my left for folder opening, email surfing, simpler stuff. I'm probably 60/40 right to left now.
Pro tip: steps start to make body composition changes at around 10,000/day. Probably not practical on a desk treadmill. But you are still getting health benefits, so keep it up. Great video!
You definitely weren't walking enough to lose any weight, but adding steps in and getting more movement in your body is always going to be a net positive.
Decided to buy a treadmill a couple months back and the part that I haven't figured out yet it how to count the steps. I have a Garmin watch but since my hands are on the keyboard it doesn't track the steps. I'm curious on how did you count the steps. Great video btw!
I got the same treadmill about 10 days ago and I actually did research and I actually would recommend it! I had several options and went with this one because I live in a small apartment and it's very convenient to be able to fold it. Haven't had remote battery issues yet, that does sound bad. I'm averaging over15k steps per day, a number that I'd never even approached in my life!
Wow, that's nice approach! I feel bored easily too! And I have hard time setting up my threadmil, as I do not have a standing desk. My personal thoughts: the wrist issue could be somewhat better, when I do not fixate my hand, as I put pressure on it otherwise, and not just my wrist, but my back also starts hurting. I can read in 3-3,5km/h, but if I need to code 1-2km/tops, it won't give me nearly as much steps, but could keep body moving. I originaly bought it for concentration, as I think by walking better, but honestly, if you walk fast it is counterproductive.
The goal of walking while working for me would be to be able to walk more without spending all my free time doing it. If you only walk 20 minutes a day, I don't see the point
3:30 You should not feel any pain when working with a computer, if you do you should consider starting using an ergonomic split keyboard (like the ZSA Voyager) and an ergonomic mouse like a trackball or a RollerMouse
As someone who consistently goes to the gym 4 times a week, and does 10-12k steps each day for the past 5 years, I can tell you that you cannot rely on discipline alone and you shouldn't. Discipline and motivation are necessary to start a routine. But you cannot rely on them alone. We all have bad days, we all have things going on. We are not always motivated and if we are gonna power through on sheer willpower alone, we would get mentally burned out. Instead, think of discipline and motivation as tools. Use them to develop healthy habits and get into routines. Once you develop a routine, it's a lot easier to stick to it. Don't get discouraged if you have to skip once or twice. A few bumps in the road don't matter in the long run. Consistency and showing up over a long period of time (years or sometimes forever) is what truly matters.
Once I got my standing desk I removed my desk chair to the other room. I no longer sit for 8-10 hours. Now that I have a walk pad under my standing desk I will get my daily steps in . I had a similar experience use to live in NYC and averaged 18,000 steps a day … now that I live near the burbs I drive everywhere and don’t get my steps in. I put my health as a priority because of the environmental and physical change that I endured. I will use the tools that I now have to ensure I get my fitness back on track
After watching many videos of RUclipsr quitting RUclips, I really hope you can make it sustainable and survive longer at this level of quality. Especially if your next videos are not having as much as this video's views but you you've doubled the work / time on them. good luck mate, nice videos
That video was awesome, wasn't sure what to expect when I clicked it but so glad i did. I also wanted to say I wasn't expecting the high level of prodiuction, I think you have a huge future on here, so I hope you're going to stick with this. Subscribed.
A vr headset would allow your "screen" to bob with your head as you walk, and you wouldn't get that motion sickness I don't think, but then you couldn't see the keyboard. Maybe an AR headset.
Great video!! What computer program are you using in the first part of the video??? I thought it was solitaire, but then I thought it might be something useful!
Really solid video! I wanted a little more intermingled stories. "I'm surprised it doesn't hurt my feet" or "my calves feel so sexy" hahaha. This video flowed SO WELL. and was motivating too
Diet is a big factor when trying to lose weight not just using a treadmill. Plus, your body takes on average, 6 weeks to condition to any extensive exercise. You may not notice any significant change in your body composition for 4 to 6 weeks but you will feel better overall after 1 week.
awesome video well edited and informative. You mentioned you have a standing desk for 10 years! I have never made the jump and work from home on a traditional desk would you recommend switching? Any benefits you see? And any recommendations. I think that will be my first step before considering a treadmill.
Thank you!! I love my standing desk - and I use it habitually. The main benefit I experience is I find standing keeps my energy level higher. When I work at a non-standing desk, my body feels lethargic after a few hours.
good video! see you are still small but i comment so more ppl can see this! If you can keep this standard of quality, you are not gonna stay small for long. I'm certain of that. Good luck!!

3:30 You should not feel any pain when working with a computer, if you do you should consider starting using an ergonomic split keyboard (like the ZSA Voyager) and an ergonomic mouse like a trackball or a RollerMouse
Came to say the same thing. Nobody should use the "magic mouse" from apple.
I live in the suburbs and worth from home also. I make it a point to walk the neighborhood which is roughly 2.5 Miles every morning.
very well produced, don't stop
Fantastic video!
Thank you!! I'll do my best :)
That video was awesome, wasn't sure what to expect when I clicked it but so glad i did. I also wanted to say I wasn't expecting the high level of prodiuction, I think you have a huge future on here, so I hope you're going to stick with this. Subscribed.
Thank you!! That's super encouraging. Makes me want to keep going 🙏
Wow. Video is really good procuced, I thought you would have at least 50k subs but I never thought its nearly 500. Leaving a sub :)
Wow - thank you!!🙏 😊
Following because this type of production needs some respect
Nice video, both by means of picture and content. Actually was surprised with subscribers number, good luck with channel.
Most important question:
Did the marker paint through the paper onto the wall?
Great video Steve!
Love the video! Now I’m buying myself a treadmill! 🤩
BTW-what desk lamp are you using? Looks good!
Great video, thank you :)
Really nice video! Just a random question, what's the ref of your desk chair? I'm trying to find a good white one but it's difficult! Thanks!
Great video!
A vr headset would allow your "screen" to bob with your head as you walk, and you wouldn't get that motion sickness I don't think, but then you couldn't see the keyboard. Maybe an AR headset.
this was a really good video i expected you to have a lot more subs
Thank you - I appreciate it! 😊
Great video!! What computer program are you using in the first part of the video??? I thought it was solitaire, but then I thought it might be something useful!
Great video! Keep going!!
Thank you!!
Could you put your desk link pleaser, moise, carpet and all your setup 😁🙂🙌
I have the same one. I have never used the remote. I turn on/off and control the speed with the app on my phone.
Really solid video! I wanted a little more intermingled stories. "I'm surprised it doesn't hurt my feet" or "my calves feel so sexy" hahaha. This video flowed SO WELL. and was motivating too
Thank you!! 😊
This channel is about to explode
Diet is a big factor when trying to lose weight not just using a treadmill. Plus, your body takes on average, 6 weeks to condition to any extensive exercise. You may not notice any significant change in your body composition for 4 to 6 weeks but you will feel better overall after 1 week.
Maybe pair with an ergo mouse from Logitech. Those apple mice are horrendous
They’ve never bothered me 🤷🏼♂️
wonderful video! Insane quality
the quality of this video gives a youtuber with 1M+ subs vibes!
Love this video so much
great video, thanks for making it!
awesome video well edited and informative.
When I work at a non-standing desk, my body feels lethargic after a few hours.
had to pause at 1:35, where are you pulling your average daily steps data for the graph? Really fantastic content so far.
Thank you!! It’s pulled from my iPhone Health app 👍
Thanks for the video, straight to the point :D
For a small creator your really good a making videos
What desk is that?
I want one but I take calls where I am going between multiple screens and just think it won’t work with my work 😢
Your video content is really good
I appreciate that!
Nice video, but please change your mouse and find an ergonomic one; I switched 2 years ago and never looked back; the pain is gone.
I like my mouse though
@@steve.benjamins1 just give it a try
@@steve.benjamins1 priorities, form over function 😅
good video! see you are still small but i comment so more ppl can see this!
If you can keep this standard of quality, you are not gonna stay small for long. I'm certain of that.
Good luck!!
I appreciate you taking the time to say that!! 🙏
This video was awesome. I felt like I was watching a movie
