He is a very good (and patient) fishing instructor. I loved the way he encouraged Julie.
William is so great at explaining the significance of everything on his estate at Dean's Court.Such a wonderful caretaker of his family's legacy and it's continuation into the future! Great job,Julie!
You are an American treasure. Your excitement matches all us Americans who are obsessed with this stuff
I LOVE this channel. I guess being American, we just don’t have such history and I just love seeing such amazing places with such amazing history. Well done!
@tall treensinc I agree with you on that one I would love to have her grammar and accent as well!
You would love some of the old Gilded-Age Newport mansions/estates in Rhode Island. Some pre-date the Gilded-Age and go back to 1700 - not quite as old as the original part of Mapperton. I think you can tour a few of them online, if you want a sneak peak.
@@suzannes5888 I have heard of those! And am sure I will see them some day they sound incredible. Im born & raised in Philadelphia and with all the problems this city has it has no lack of historically significant places and things. And I've always loved history and as I got a bit older I started really appreciating that about Philly.
Loved this series! So interesting and what a lovely family. It's hard to wrap my head around 1600 years of continuous living on that plot of land, it's magical. Thank you Julie for sharing.
thank you so much!! Please spread the word. xx Julie
The Saxon foundation, wow! One of the reasons I would love to visit Britain one day is to see how it feels to be surrounded by such a rich and ancient history. You're quickly becoming one of my favorite channels. Thank you!
You always look like you are having so much fun whether exploring or climbing into a creek. Thank you for sharing with us!
Thanks for watching!
Ms. Julie, I have been enjoying all your videos. One thing I am sure is that your husband's parents must be absolutely thrilled with you and you have just dug in and adopted everything English. Your hard-workin
And so positive. When you told your family about Luke and his family how did they take it? Have they or do they come for visits? Keep up the high spirits & you have a lovely husband & family.
Thank you so much!
Love the tours of these great old homes Julie. It’s just fascinating seeing the older outer wall inside . Great architectural views. Thank you so much for your enthusiasm and great production.
So grateful for this series you've produced. It's feeding a very special part of my heart. I love your enthusiasm and your love of history. Thank you for sharing your journey and your passion with a small bit of the world.
I love seeing you drive away in the vintage thunderbird…. So classy and fun❤️♥️❤️
Love the shot with the scarf and driving--such glamour!
Thanks for wearing the Le Chameau Delta hip-waders, they look amazing on you.
Dean's Court was a magnificent tour. This is how I envision Britain's country estates to be. Self-suffient at its finest! I have read about and encounter many people to include me who have started a business during the covid lockdown. Blessings to all.
Lord! That fly fishing exhibition! 😂😂😂🤗
as always your lovely and fearless!!
I’m having a “zen moment” just watching the stream😊
That was the best information about fly fishing I've ever heard.
Lovely! I would love to visit all of these historic homes one day! I just discovered over this past weekend that my 5th cousin, Sir William Martin was the architect of Athelhampton house in Dorset! It's not too far from Mapperton so I will add Dean's Court also! I wish I could help somehow with the restoration! I enjoy hearing about the history, etc! My husband doesn't want to go so I'll bring my cousin for an unforgettable trip of a lifetime! Thank you Julie and Luke, your staff, and to the many Manor homeowners you bring to us on your ventures!
I love this series, Julie. I wish my Gram was alive to watch this with me. She was from New Castle and she'd gave been enthralled. Thank you!
Thanks I’m English my day when he was alive was evacuated to “ Berwick on tweed near Newcastle it’s beautiful “ bye from London 🌹
Some day I hope I can visit from NY. That would be fabulous 😀
Hope so too!
What part of NY are you from? I am from the Mohawk Valley about an hour and a half from Albany
I don't know how you do it, each episode I seem to enjoy more and more!
I’m just catching up with all your vlogs. I just love all these series of visiting these historical places and learning of their history in addition to meeting the owners. Such lovely people one and all. So well done. Brilliant and thanks for taking us along 😍😘
I love this, Julie. I’ve always wanted to learn fly fishing. Your looking good. You are such a pleasure. Love your videos❣️
Thanks so much!!!
What a beautiful place with so much history thank you loved it
Seems like you could sell this series to a big network. Its very well done.
I enjoyed Julie and the guys(pun intended) fly fishing! It was interesting to learn about the stream. The cellar was really interesting! This video was a great joy to watch!! Love from Vermont
Oh my! Now I have to try fly fishing🤩👍🏻
Amazing places and amazing people.
I love theses shows!!
Really enjoy this channel. Recently watched a video on Victorian staircases & learned how the construction of servant stairwells ignored known safety requirements. Those uneven & shallow treads were a common source of serious injury & even death. I think of it every time Julie encounters one.
Thoroughly enjoyable. Thanks. 👍🏻🇬🇧
Many thanks!
I love this channel. the best way to travel
Thank you for sharping pieces of history, and lovely architecture of places we would never have the opportunity to visit and see. I love the gardens, and decor, the people, and your genuine enthusiasm for the visits you do.
So much information. Your positivity and sense of fun adventure is so refreshing! Thank you.
Truly a wonderful productive home and business
Just fascinating. So much history and beauty. Your enthusiasm, curiosity, and respect for the family and staff is so genuine. Perfect guest. So many wonderful experiences in one vlog. The one that touched my heart the most was the precious books in the chained library. Thank you for all the hard work and preparation you and your team do. You make it look easy.
Wonderful! Thank you so much for this delightful content ❤️
Julie, you have great rhythm for fly fishing!!
Oh thank you!
Oh Julie, AV, you are so lovable. Big hugs all the way from the Philippines. Pandemic, please end soon. Would love to cross the big pond!!! xx
🤗
Always interesting to learn more about Britain's country life. Thx
Hi thanks beautiful ! Julie we don’t have very cold 🥶 summers they are just right! It’s so weird that you still get cold all the time! Lol 😂 maybe we just always like our own weather! Love you 😽
He's being such a gentlemen! Lol Julie you did good but it did look like you were trying to cast instead of fly. Just relax when you fly and don't go so far forward. Your doing. Great! ☺
Julie,
Trout or not,
This was a lovely adventure.
Cheers,
Frederick "Rik" Spector
I so enjoy you and your taking us about England!!
Good girl, flying my flag 🇬🇧
Tremendously beautiful scenery. As a Central Southern California resident I understand Trout fishing. I am excited for you all. Thank you. From Bakersfield California USA. Merry Christmas.
Deans Court is breathtaking! I kept wondering what else was to be found in the cellars! Couldn't imagine fly fishing in chalkstreams but you made it look easy!
Beautiful
that cellar is fabulous! Great show!
🥰That was fun to watch!!🥰
I love your vlogs, thank you! From the Grand Tetons ,Wyoming!!!
Love watching the videos! Hello from Florida!
Thanks for watching!
Incredible!!
Julie your waders crack me up, dip a hip fill a boot. We bib waders to remove the dock, when your short water gets deep fast lol. It it is a freaky feeling when cold water hits the rubber boots or waders. First thought hope there’s no holes and please don’t fall lol. I enjoy cane pole fishing and a good spinner pole lol.
Lovely video..I Love your jeans you wore is this video….where did you get them?
boden Clothing
@@AmericanViscountess Thank You ❤️
Love this video but I must ask, what is the music at the end when you are closing the vid in the chalk stream and referring to the peace of fly fishing?
Magnifique!
Loving the video. Thanks for sharing xox
You are so welcome!
@@AmericanViscountess 😱💕
Beautiful place. Fly fishing is hard.
For Americans we can’t imagine 1300 years ago!
Absolutely love this video
That vegetarian feast looks delicious !
Does he grow his own tomatoes or store bought. I have a way of growing tomatoes that as the bottom of the plant grows old and does not fruit and the leaves drop I lower it into the ground to reroot and thus tomatoe cages do not need to be as tall. Keeping them lower you can enclose them during the colder months and potentially in temporate areas get fresh tomatoes in winter. My parets had a plant that ver wintered for 3 years before an unexpected frost got it.
Do they ever say slang words. What’s a Christmas cracker. Do they have Oreo cookies? What do you miss the most ? And is that your car. You look like a 30s Hollywood star ⭐️
Im intrested in the production of this yt channel...it looks like a well made bbc program.
Julie, I love your chanels! Does Luke have siblings??
When you first became a Viscountess did you feel misunderstood? Did people look down their nose’s at you or snub you because you’re an American?
Thanks but we English are not like that! We are mostly nice polite people!
I think the very fact that most viewers are probably British gives you the answer. We love our country and hold dear those who appreciate it too.
@@thewealduk9802 thanks exactly we are a very small country we get over looked ! Julie makes me laugh 😂 she hasn’t got used to our weather “ even after 20yrs lol 😂 I think the reason she fits in is cause she’s passionate about our history! Bye from London 🌹
As a second generation American with roots in Derbyshire (Matlock and Winster) I have watched hundred of curtsies. The curtsey looks like one foot slight behind the other, a gentle bend at the knees, not fast, not slow, and head bowed. Ultimate respect. Meghan realizes one picture is worth a thousands words. Meghan will get milage out of the photograph, she must have practiced for hours. The deep curtsy Meghan performed before Queen Elizabeth's catafalque was unnecessary and showboating. Even the slightest risk of toppling over or falling back on her bum would have disrupted one of the most solemn occasions.
I have subscribed to your channel since the first episode. I do enjoy the visits to the different houses, the history, the houses and the gardens.
BUT you spoil it by first giving a little bit of info of what is to come and secondly the pop up to ask people to subscribe, overdone. So for these 2 reasons I will unsubscribe.
Oh do be aware of the northern French alligators they have taken control of British water ways in last 15 years
Интересно, почему джентльмены не встали, чтобы поприветствовать даму?
I'm enjoying your channel very much as I really enjoy history, art, and architecture in general. You and your husband are a sweet couple. I mean no disrespect at all when I ask this, but do you ever discuss the problematic history of British colonialism or is that a taboo subject in the family?
A bit out of focus.
I am sorry, but fly fishing is pretentious bollocks.
So you are a Lady? And hes a Lord?
She’s a Viscountess snd her husband is a viscount
Thanks Julie said on previous video “ she can call herself lady “ I’m English but I get confused 😕
@@tabitha4135 no, she cannot call herself lady Julie , that is not something transferred by marriage only birth .
I'm really enjoying this series! Thank you! I've been studying Alfred the Great this morning... it would be interesting to film some of these Burhs today and see what remains! en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Burghal_Hidage
In Wareham, quite a lot. The walls remain and you can walk around them. The church, "St Martin's on the Walls" dates from the 7C and was rebuilt 1030. But it's the feel and geography of the town that gives you a good idea of what it must have been like. Surrounded by marshes and the river, (it still gets cut off sometimes, my son in law wrecked his car last winter in deep water on the road into Wareham) it still retains the feeling of being self contained and timeless.
