For soviet pattern plane, there is an easier way to flare aim9m in rear aspect, fly straight pop a series of flare then neg g a little bit (or simply pull out of the way)and the missile will go for flares. And for side aspect, I personally prefer to turn gently to the enemies with constant flaring and a sudden tight turn when missile is near, if that doesn't fool the missile then go up or down as it is in the video.

Tbh for the side-aspect AIM-9M with the Su-27 seems to work by just spamming out a few flares and pulling in a chosen direction.
I've had amazing results with a flare series program that lets me passively dump flares at a conservative rate. It's all about just keeping that seeker head on the 9m turned off, and the 73s hate preflares. (.5 second interval, in a series of 4, mixed for max conservation or extra flare for max effectiveness)
For the soviet type of flaring a magic 2, it’s actually easier in the su 27 than in the MiG 29 cause the su 27 has large counter measures which burn longer, hotter and don’t need as long to heat up as normal CM, so you need more flares in a mig 29 right?
What about the Mig-23ML with the flare pod? It goes up first and then down

This is a great video! One thing I have to ask is how would you go about flaring using countermeasures that deploy straight from the rear? The F14B with its flare pods deploy straight backwards. Once the pods run out of flares (which will never happen unless you spam) then it switches to the downward NATO flare, but otherwise it’s just directly backward.
The missiles I die to the most in the gripen are always R73s, if you let them get too close you cant do too much about it. (preflaring doesnt always work as they can radar slave) 9Ms are easier to flare last second as you can just roll and pull.
But having 700 cm in the gripen usually just lets you ignore the fact IR missiles exist anyway
you can always do a 360º roll while flaring, no need to pitch/turn off afterburner; from my experience works best vs 9M/AAM3 but also works vs gatewidth. You can test it, for me works pretty consistently as long as its a rear aspect missile 👍

The 9M and AAM-3 you can literally just roll, no need to pitch regardless of flare pattern. Front and rear aspect that is, in my experience 2 or 3 pops is enough to flare it
Idont know if you w you who made the video before, but with the 9m dont you just have to flare constantly and change direction since the tracker turns off when it detects flares?

Keep in mind plane temperature is important, if you get one of these launched on you in a Tomcat, say goodnight. And you can pull away, you don’t have to do -G. As long as the flare has time to heat up and get in between you and the missile

No idea. A few of them combine both types of IRCCM and to my knowledge are pretty much unflarable. Your best chance is kinetically dodging them so go fast and learn how to use your rudder in dodges

The techniques are better and more consistent. The last guide wasn’t very good. This is supposed to be a correction to that, as I have now unlisted the old one. DEFYNs guide is more comprehensive though

All of that is a bit hard to pull off in 16v16 matches, with 50 missiles flying everywhere at the same time and in a plane with only 60 countermeasures.
But still, this was very enlightening. If Gaujon decides to reduce player numbers as they should, I might go back to top tier and try those out.

9Ms are the easiest of the IRCCMs to dodge due to them shutting off the seekers when someone flares unlike the R73 or Magic2 who shrink their Pov down
It's the same for me with R73 they just always gwt flared off immediately like there irccm doesn't work

@@iansysoev9462 done that about 50 or so time under 1mile and still hasn't like the game bugs out or something even at its most optimal launch still gets one flared

I had tried the negative G method on F15 when R73 was first introduced, very very unreliable. On the other hand f16 doesn't even need negative g simply put the belly to where the missile is coming from and pull seem to work 100% of the time.
Also to add, if you are flying a Tornado, fly straight against magic 2 and R73, it is really that easy.
Cut throttle to 0, turn as hard as you can and flare flare flare

Yeah, now imagine fighting the toptiers with irccm ir rockets in your shit phantom or something else with only 60 flares. You can preflare and dodge the shit once or twice if you have luck and after that you are sitting duck without more flares waiting for your death. Gaijin balance at its best
Thats one huge problem imo right now. Some aircrafts only has 60 flares, its possible to survive, but you'll need much more practice to flare those missiles efficiently
3:52 Pulling is unnecessary when the 9m comes directly from behind. Just cut the burner, roll and pop flare continuously for 1.5-2 secs.
Cutting burner is also unnecessary as shown in the video. But since 9m and r73 are actually more sensitive to plane’s ir signal than flares, cutting burner decreases the chance 9m re-acquires you.
