Leaving the steering wheel bolt installed a couple turns will help you not hit yourself in the face when the wheel comes loose as they often are stubborn and require some force to get loose.
My 2002 Dodge Ram 1500 SLT was much different when I replaced the clock spring. The two screw on the back of the wheel were holding on the cruise control switches. The air bag assembly had to be removed by removing two large Phillips head screws. There was one airbag wiring connector. The 13mm Bolt holding the steering wheel on the shaft was the only part that was identical to what you’re doing. Had to use a puller to remove the steering wheel off the shaft. Mine didn’t have the serrations, it had round with flat positioning sides so it could only go on one way.

I have an 06 rt charger steering wheel i was wondering if it would mount up to my 08 ram steering wheel there the same size I just don't know how many splines the steering wheel has
I got my wheel free and it started to come off and then stopped. I can still slide it on and off the spines freely but it won’t come off completely. It feels like metal hitting metal when it stops and everything is unbolted as it should be. Any suggestions? Thank you!
Is it possible to have play at the wheel because I’ve replaced everything and I still have about a quarter inch or half inch of play in my steering I was gonn take the wheel off and see
Yes Just disarm and remove the airbag and steering wheel then just replace it with which ever wheel you want Also a adapter kit will be required for the installation process however if you wish to retain the airbag sytem with a Aftermarket Wheel this will require a Aftermarket Wheel with a pre-installed airbag
