That first question I was asked...I want to ask it to all of you! Because it felt really good to be asked! HOW ARE YOU!?! Comment down here so I can scroll through and check in on my virtual family!
I just wanna say: Thank u so much for all your videos! I've learned so many things about life, about myself and everything for you! Thanks for helping us. ILY so much, wish you the best Meli!❤️
Loved this video, thank you for sharing your pregnancy journey, its been very insightful! I'm doing okay! I'm a med student and we just started back this week. As you can imagine everything is kind of crazy right now. I'm hoping I'll be able to manage the stress of being a med student combined with working in a Healthcare environment during a pandemic when I'm trying to learn and pass exams. I guess I'm feeling nervous about it all!
I'm overwhelmed! Working two jobs and not knowing if the college course I want to take next year will be running due to a lack of participants. I want to study English Literature and Language to become a writer but there are people putting me down for my career goals and trying to convince me that they are unrealistic. I'm standing strong and pushing to believe in myself as best I can. I have a girly night planned with my friend in a couple of weeks, though, which is keeping my spirits high for the moment! Lots of love 💕💕
I completely agree with keeping the baby’s privacy. I think it’s so scary when I see family channels where the kid’s are very prominent and most likely the reason people watch. First of all, your kids should never be your source of income. Second of all, we don’t know what impact it has on the kids when they grow up. They may seem fine now but one day they may hate their parents or grow serious issues by having their childhood displayed in front of millions of people. We don’t know and I would never risk that.
HAHAHAHAHA that is SO FUNNY because yesterday I filmed a collab with Sophie White who literally wrote two books about an influencer who fakes a pregnancy online...(Filter This and Unfiltered! 100% RECOMMEND lol)
I really appreciate you saying “you and your girlfriend” as an option for a birth partner... this is kind of off-topic to this video, but I realised / accepted I was bi over lockdown and I’m now dating a girl for the first time and I absolutely adore her. You (and your sister!) were such great inspirations to me and watching your videos helped me get to accepting i was bi. Just wanted to say thanks for being so open about your own sexuality, even after finding Thomas. I’m 24 and came to this realisation late and I’m so happy with the girl I’m seeing now, and might never have gotten to this point without your representation. Thanks so much again Melanie. I’m so excited for you and Thomas and the baby, best of luck with everything xxxxxxxxx
I'm actually glad you are not sharing your kid's identity. Props on you for protecting your child. I actually think you have no need to be apologetic about it. 💚
"Doing things to better someone else's life experiences" That sentence actually made me cry. I've always been on the fence with kids. The idea of them having to look after me when I'm old or sick. My mother had cancer twice, once when I was four and it recurred again six months ago. Putting a child through what I've had to go through, if I want a divorce, or I die or my partner does? ... But then again, the positives I've had in my childhood have massively outweighed the negatives. I love making people happy. I love surprising people, making people laugh. And I think we'd get along.
Totally understand your decision to not want to put your child’s face online! The internet is great but it can also be a scary place. We support you Melanie!! Much love from Canada
as a 00s baby i recommend allowing them to have a phone for social media when they hit puberty, just so they can do their own thing on there and research whatever they’re going thru! i got a phone at 6 and it has brought on far too many mental health issues that really snatched my childhood and adolescence away from me. i’m now 18 and still struggle badly w it all! you’ll be a great mama, lots of love x
Thank you so so much for the advice from the position of someone who is a lot younger and actually went through this! SO insightful and helpful xxxxxxx
I totally share your fears about technology and raising our children in this era. They are going to have a totally different experience from us and I'm worried I won't be able to relate to their problems and help.
I actually don't know if we should simply because we don't know what names we're going to use yet! :) One of the top girls names was 'Daisy' but I saw that Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom just named their baby Daisy and while Thomas doesn't care, I just don't want to associate my baby with anyone else's baby if that makes sense lol...like Lily is my FAVE girl name however I know four people with daughters called Lily so then if I had a Lily I'd always associate her with those girls, that's why we're also avoiding using any names that are friends/family/exes etc hahaha it's SO HARD TO FIND LEFTOVER NAMES! But we have a few good ones. They're all pretty plain and normal actually especially the boy ones! xxx
I'm currently 37 weeks pregnant and I completely believe in the 'pregnancy glow'! ☀️ I've always struggled with acne. It improved some when I changed my diet and started using natural skincare but it's never completely gone away. I always have a breakout somewhere on my face! Since getting pregnant, I haven't had a single blemish! It's been amazing and I'll really miss that after having baby!
Actually now that you say it I DID notice that all of my back acne went away 100%! I was treating it prior to getting pregnant but it literally vanished then when I was pregnant...I suppose though when I think of 'glow' I just think of skin having this whole other look about it, like rosey cheeks and glistening skin etc! :) xxx
I’m so glad that you mentioned technology and in a way that disappearance of boundaries between childhood and adulthood. It worries me too and I wasn’t sure if I was just overthinking it? But I’m glad you touched on it as I feel like I’m not just wallowing in my worries 😅
i’ve just finished watching a show called ‘This Is Us’ on amazon prime... ohh my god it’s art! it’s all about a family and their life, basically, and it flicks backwards and forwards in time, gradually revealing the life experiences of all of them so you get to understand all the relationship dynamics. it’s just soo good i 100% recommend it xxx
I just wanted to leave a comment as someone who is in her early twenties. Its so nice and reassuring to watch you grow in confidence, welcoming in positive energy, and all looking after themselves, and 'all that crap' as you would say, yep thats its, thank you, Melanie.
I completely respect and agree with not sharing children online. I don’t even feel comfortable sharing pics of baby/children relatives, or showing their faces, on my private feed. I grew up without a digital footprint and that choice is of the child’s to make in future. Not mine for the sake of a like, connection, or an income.
I never used to feel this way and actually never thought I'd want to keep my kid mostly private because it's just the done thing nowadays that people share their kids being adorable (and it brings SO much joy to so many!) but this is it, I can't imagine growing up and finding out that so much of my childhood was documented online/commented on by many strangers! One of the things that tipped me over the edge was hearing Casey Neistat say in an interview that a taxi man turned around and addressed his daughter by name (he was a fan of his content) and the girl reacted terribly to it she was very frightened...and you would be! You are brought up being told not to talk to strangers so imagine a stranger knowing your name when you're too young to even understand what the internet is - it scares me. Peados scare me. Pathetic trolls who call the schools etc of influencer children and bully them make me so angry. The idea of my child resenting me for making money off of them with toy advertisements etc scares me (even if I was saving that money FOR them) simply because we just don't know where this whole internet thing is going...I want my kids outside playing with lady bugs and I'm going to massively limit screen time xxx
Melanie Murphy That is exactly how I feel too. I wish more people understood this mindset rather than labelling it as overreacting and 'trivial'. It's not shameful to share your children, but be weary of the permanent consequences of the Internet. Thank you for sharing your perspective, you're going to be such a beautiful and wise mother. You're definitely inspiring me to consider things for when I eventually become one.💖💖💖💖
I totally respect that decision not to share all about your future children, I also love the way people go about it not deliberately removing the face but not having their social media taken over by it. Especially if someone was to see the child in public and post photos. Lily Pebbles on the Happy Mum Happy Baby podcast talks about it so well, I 'd really recommend listening to that episode. Or Rochelle and Marvin Humes actually changed their minds and used to hide their kids faces until their daughter saw their insta and asked why they never posted her, I loved that they were flexible and honest about how no one really knows how to approach it. Lots of love to you Melanie! Always supporting your content! xxx
Ohh thank you for bringing this up, I hadn't even thought about that - someone posting photos after seeing us in public! The idea that ANYONE would actually do that to someone who had made a choice for the wellbeing/safety etc of their child ACTUALLY BLOWS MY MIND THOUGH WHATTTTT xxxxx
Regarding having kids late in life - yes it's so true that you don't have to have kids young, but please think about the kid, you'll bring into the world and what it means for them, if you do get a kid late. My mum had me at 40, my dad was 42. They both started getting sick, having life altering injuries and deal with age related issues before I turned 10. I'm 25 now and have a dad with a brain injury and a mum with what feels like every chronic illness on the planet - diabetes, parkinson's, arthritis etc. They were never really well enough to be parents for me and my older brother, so we barely had a childhood. We had to grow up extremely fast and become the adults in the house. It's mentally straining for a kid like that, cause they're never going to relate to their peers. Also having older parents can also mean having an older family. I am the youngest in my entire family. There's about 35 years between the oldest cousin and myself. The two grandparents that were left after my birth were extremely ill and passed away when I was a little kid as well. Don't know why I felt the need to comment this, but it just spurred something in me.
I'm really glad that you commented this because often people get annoyed with me when I talk about why I personally always wanted to have children younger rather than older...I'm NEVER casting judgements on other people's decisions however I'm just stating facts - there's so much more to think about than fertility when it comes to family planning & this story highlights so many issues that can arise! Really, thank you for sharing your experiences xxxxx
WHAT?! You were an extra in Vikings??? I love that show, damn now I have to go back and find the scenes you that were in haha! So weird thinking that you were an extra and I didn't know ahhhhh!
I can always only tell when I'm in a scene because I'll recall watching them act it out on the day over and over again in like 50 takes haha! It's usually back or side of the head etc but we're the girls in the blue dresses and plaits in season one or two I can't remember which was the first one I was in but I did two seasons back to back for two summers it was SO INCREDIBLY FUNNNN! I made a video years ago recreating the makeup of one of the female characters and shared lots more photos in that xxxxx
Of course, I’m sad we won’t be seeing your baby because I’m nosey as all hell, however I think it’s fab that you’re doing what you think is right for your family and your baby and I think me and the rest of the nosey peeps out there completely respect your decision!! Go mama ❤️
I'm so nosey too I ADORE seeing people's kids in all their glory haha but I promise to still give little slivers of life with a baby & youse will certainly hear baby in the background/see them hanging from my front a whole lot! :P
I just love your presence and calming nature. Thank you for creating these videos and for sharing even a small portion of your life. You and Thomas will be great parents x
Says there's no pregnancy glow, yet starts the video completely glowing :D :D :D I think it's the excitement, anticipation and love that glows, not the skin ;) x
Hi Mel! I’ve been making a lot of progress on my self-confidence and embracing exactly who I am regardless of others’ opinions of me. I always feel so inspired after watching your videos because your authenticity, kindness, and relatability always shine through. So excited for you & Thomas to welcome your little one into the world! You’re going to be such a great mother!
seeing you so bubbly, joyous, and excited really just makes my heart so warm. I've been watching your videos and following you for about 2 and a half years now, and it's been so amazing to see you grow and fall in love and get engaged and experience pregnancy. it feels like you've been such a big part of my life! especially because I first started watching you to help come to terms with my bisexuality. I just want to say that im sending so much love to you, Thomas, and your little Kiddo on the way. thank you for always being there when I needed a welcoming space. I hope we'll still get to see your videos occasionally, but whatever is best for you and your family's wellbeing is what I support the most!!
I amn't going anywhere I promise! :) Might just not be AS active across social media and will definitely be pulling back on a lot of my side work for a month or two (writing, brand deals all that)
You aslked for our opinion on treating children gender nutral. First of all I want to state that I am a very proud mother of a daughter who is an engineer and a son who is becoming a nursery school teacher. - So I feel like they grew up to know that they needn*t meet any stereotype expectations. But I also must admit that I never dressed my son in a dress - while my daughter always had the choice between any style of clothing there was. - He never asked for a dress or a skirt, though - but neither did I offer it to him. So I obviously didn`t treat them the same.
@@melaniemurphyofficial I totally agree - I just feel like I am kind of cheating when I prentend I have treated my children exactly the same. But after all they were not part of a social study - so I guess it's ok. ;)
I LOVE your pregnancy videos! I'm 20 and am still very much on the fence about having kids, but I have had many interesting conversations with my mum about pregnancy and raising children because of your videos!
What a great Q + A! You always make great points and are spot on with these important issues. Hope you and your family can enjoy this next phase of life as much as possible!
YOU ARE SUCH A GOOD PERSON FOR NOT MAKING YOUR KID PART OF YOUR CONTENT. I am baffled at some youtubers and I don't need to be pc, they suck. They are so irresponsible. Love, love, love your ideals and sense of responsibility.
Oh Melanie, I always come to your channel for an uplifting and honest talk & I always get it. I just want to say, one of the most important things I’ve learned from you is to keep the promises you make to yourself. I feel like you’re a great example of someone who takes her own word seriously, and because of that, everything you say has more value. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I just wanna say I really love your videos and personality, and hearing your advice and life stuff. Always excited to see you upload, thanks for existing 💜
I totally respect your decision to not show your child online. I just think there’s too many sick people on the internet now. I remember the Saccone-Jolys sharing that they’d been getting weird letters sent to them about their kids and they’ve had social services visiting them because of what viewers have reported. Some aspects of life are better kept private x
I feel so terrible for them in how creeps online have intruded into their life :( I know that they share it but they started sharing back when the internet was a VERY different place like seriously, 2013ish time...it was like a whole other world on here. Especially for Irish channels which they were back then before they moved. It was such a lovely little community, I was watching them from way before they were even engaged. Breaks my heart to see the stress they've been put under by some, when all they want to do is to make people happy/offer a nice distraction/spark joy etc. I love watching their children and I do feel sad that having witnessed the shit that they and others go through I've come to this feeling of being afraid to do the same, but I am and I need to go with that gut intuition! xxx
question for you mel: was there a period of time before thomas that you were scared you'd never find love/settle down/get to have kids? i'm 25 and i feel very anxious about it...i'm single and not having much luck with dating but i want to have babies so badly and have a family. i feel like i'm running out of time and it's causing me soo much stress. do you have any advice? love your videos and love YOU xxx
I'm 27 and I struggle with the same thing! But I also have realized that being happy single and loving my life is what is going to attract the person that I want to be with. And I want to be able to function as myself with a man so when I find one we can both love each other while being confident in who we are and individuals 😊
@@lilywojciechowski9906 love this! i know i keep telling myself that stressing about it won't attract the right person any faster, but it's so hard haha
SO excited about your little one's arrival Mel. I've followed you for years, and I'll be taking notes for when my little one arrives a few months after yours! I think I'm having a boy, we didn't find out either!
I just wanted to say that I've had a killer migrain all evening and through the night and your videos are just so calming they're making me feel so much better
Oh my gosh, yes. I found the first year, i was consumed by motherhood. It was a lot to navigate (not in a bad way, obviously, but its a big change) and i had to just kind of go hard into it. But, slowly i started having things level out and i returned to my hobbies and started trying new ones and it felt soooo good. It's definitely good to have people around you to remind you (and help you) to take time for yourself to do what you need. I love motherhood, it has never been a burden, just sometimes overwhelming. BUT it is just amazing. Soak in all the baby snuggles
Oh honey, they do thank you. Its a selfless task for sure but once they start showing affection, its such thanks from them. Its so sweet when they lean over and give you a squishy hug or a slobbery kiss. Aaahhh. k i love my kid. literally obsessed.
It still blows my mind the average is 6 months to 1 year because most of my friends and I got pregnant within 1 or 2 cycles.I feel for people who try for ages.
You are absolutely right, kids should not be exposed on line as they can not consent and understand the implications of the “game”. That’s why I have a hard time with family bloggers they trapped themselves into a system where the life of their kids is their income and there is nothing right about that. Pure exploitation. Keep on the good work!
So hear me out on this one, I thought the glow was a myth, but for some woman it really happens! I glowed like a dang sunbeam while I was pregnant with my son. It was wild. I rarely wore makeup and I would have people stop me and ask me what I do with my skin. That being said, it didn't stop me from feeling totally exhausted and achy 24/7. Lol Anywho it is fascinating how every pregnancy can effect every person differently. I have had friends with multiple children and one pregnancy they had terrible breakouts and RLS and the next perfect skin but terrible nausea. Our bodies undergo so much in growing a child. I'm pretty amazed by it all! It's like a game of roulette haha.
Loved this chatty q&a. Would love a video on your views re internet & sharing, it’s something I think about a lot and I would love to hear the perspective of someone I can relate to so well ❤️
❤️ Of course we want that cuteness overload in a harmless way ❤️ But I stand with you on your respectful, protecting and loving desicion towards your baby, and I wouldn’t want it in any other way! You are so wise 💗💗💗
I'm so happy to see you! I LOVE your makeup chat & GRWM videos and they are NOT boring!!!! I also love how you're choosing not to put your baby on the internet, I think that is just so wise, powerful and smart. You are taking back your power from those that wish to steal it over the internet. I have been following all about that human trfficking too, and facial recognition etc. and I would do the same. You are such a role model and inspiration to me! Sending blessings for you, Thomas and your baby and when you have him/her! Love this video so much as always! ~ Tanya Katherine
A couple of things re: infertility. 1) Many people think they can take or leave having a family, but they underestimate the powerful forces of biology. I thought I'd be grand if I couldn't conceive, but I absolutely am not. So it's definitely best to start trying in your mid to late 20s. 2) IVF/infertility treatment isn't just expensive, it can do terrible physical long- term damage to your body. Raw Beauty Kristi ended up with permanent cluster headaches from infertility treatment and it set off a very painful condition in my body that had been in remission for years beforehand.
lynncrf very, very valid points! IVF for most is a last resort option (certainly would have been for me) but it’s so important to think this stuff through...contraception is still such a new thing so our grandparents never had all this stuff to take into consideration! 💚
@@melaniemurphyofficial I actually like that you are a young first time Irish mother (by our crazy brainwashed leave kids till mid 30s standards). You reach a lot of young people and I so wish I had had someone like you when I was iny 20s. Instead, I was constantly surrounded by teachers/doctors/parents/society that brainwashed us xennials into delaying till our mid 30s or waiting till our career was sorted. Biology doesn't wait. I am 40 now and know so many people like me who can't have kids because they left it too late after being told all their lives that you couldn't possibly get pregnant in your 20s or the world would end!
You're looking great, you have done so well throughout all of this, you're going to be such a fantastic mother! So chuffed to hear you're going to be keeping baba off social media, I think that's an excellent decision, just protects their wee identy and gives them some privacy. You are such an inspiration, good luck with the coming weeks to you and Thomas and take it easy! Love you so much 💕
Melanie, just to let you know Fleabag season 2 is not on Amazon prime Ireland for some reason, it's advertised but the actual videos won't play... I have tried desperately.. but it's honestly an incredible show ❤️
I know, I was gutted after watching the first season and was instantly hooked, just to be cut off cold turkey 😅.. From my understanding of what I read online... Amazon prime thinks we are part of the UK because of our location so they want to promote everyone in the UK to watch it on BBC, or BBC iPlayer, but then BBC iPlayer knows we are in Ireland so it won't let us on it..... it's a vicious circle!! It definitely does need to be fixed, because it's complete false advertising... But hopefully they put it on their soon!!! 🤞
Sinéad Carroll my manager told me there was some issue and that now it won’t be up until 10th September, and they hadn’t flagged this before I posted even though they approved the sponsored segment 😭😂 But it WILL be available soon I’ve been told (big reason I signed up so better be lol!)
My two main reasons for not putting pictures of my kids online is 1. I want them to choose later on if and when they want an online presence, a german youtuber recently said her teenage son is very grateful to them that they did not put pics of him online as a kid 2. Pedophiles love using those pics for "fanfiction" type stuff, it's disgusting, they did it with pics of Saccone Joly kids.
The amount of peados coming out and even sharing their faces online now genuinely terrifies me. Did you know many of them are actually trying to latch themselves onto the LGBT community!?!?!?! Insisting that it's a sexuality and one that they shouldn't have to feel ashamed of? I mean MY GOD. They are trying to claim 'minor attracted people' as their new title. Like I get it, they can't help it or whatever but sorry you don't get to publicly talk about perversion because for you to act on such a thing means you'd be BREAKING THE LAW because anyone under a certain age cannot consent. Go to therapy, opt for castration or if you feel like you're a threat to kids, offer yourself up to be locked away. It's ludicrous for them to compare that to being gay or bi. It disgusts me beyond belief.
@@melaniemurphyofficial 😱😱😱 that alone would be reason enough to keep my kids off the internet! I have 2 cute girls, I know I would get soooo many more views on Instagram if I put them on there. But there is no way. Someone had a private account and still an aquaintance gave pics of their kids to a paedophile😱
@@melaniemurphyofficial completely agree, I absolutely adore Blaire White on RUclips, she is such an advocate for not allowing paedophiles to create a normality around being a predator! One thing I completely agree with is the saying that "you should teach children that safe adults don't ask children to keep secrets"
Farren Downing YES I adore her! She is so outspoken about things she cares about. Even though we’re not in the same political category (I’d be a bit more left leaning/centre) I feel that she talks a lot of sense and I really respect her for being so open to other opinions in various debates etc that I’ve seen her engage in! She’s definitely not a text book conservative and she’s done so much to help trans youth 💚
Even though I am sad we won’t to see your son/daughter I totally understand and respect you for deciding not to show them on social media! I would love to know, what will you do when they’re older and the possibility that they will want to be in a vlog/video of yours? Do you think you will do it then or are you not sure? 🥰 xx
I haven't thought too much about this but other RUclips parents have told me it happens once they become aware of the camera and what the internet is, during school etc! I'll probably have to have some really awkward conversations with them about internet safety and they'll probably 'hate' me because 'my friend has his own snapchat and he's five!' and I'll be like 'well your friend isn't my child, is he!?' hahaha
I really support the way you plan on approaching your child's identity on the internet and the relationship you'd like them to have with it in general. I think - though of course everyone has different opinions and ultimately it's your decision anyway- that it can be very toxic for kids to grow up with a camera in their face, being documented or posted on the internet constantly, not to mention the dangers that come with it, because sadly there are a lot of twisted people out there. Yeah, basically I just wanted to say that it's really inspiring to see a content creator who approaches this topic differently, if anything just to give a different perspective.
I think it's great you want a family and are living that dream and sharing it with us. But I have never wanted children and it's not because I care more about money or myself, but it's what's right for me, in the same way having children is right for you.
As I said at the end of the video, someone deciding something isn't a judgement or commentary on what someone else does or doesn't do - it's really important for people to understand that, seems to be lost on a lot of people especially online! I have friends who say they don't want children because they want to help the planet or to spend that time helping charities etc...I've never once taken that to mean 'oh so you're judging me for NOT wanting to help the planet or focus all my time on charity work?!?' - y'know? It's just so important as when people take someone else's decision as a reflection of their own decisions it leads to a breakdown in communication! As I'm only talking about myself in this video, me saying 'my life is all about me and my money' in a slaggy way is because I'm almost certain that if I didn't have kids, that would be MY alternative (focusing on myself and making money) xxxxxx
@@melaniemurphyofficial Okay, I agree with trying not to take judgement, it just felt slaggy because of the emphasis you put on it, but I appreciate your reply and clarification.
@@anyawillowfan I get that, I was slagging a hypothetical version of me though who would be very much tempted by a life of luxury on a boat somewhere with no responsibility, that's a side of myself I have to fight as I seek to keep hold of true contentedness (I personally only find that when I have people/tasks that rely on me) (but I've also got a very self-indulgent side of me that I need to keep in check!)
@@TheGirlHub Melanie already answered and explained what she meant. I'm sorry I misunderstood that she was talking just about herself as it didn't feel like that. I am doing my best to learn and understand other viewpoints but I'm not perfect and do often misinterpret sarcasm and the like, but I also appreciate when things are clarified if I get it wrong. I'm sorry my brain isn't as sophisticated as yours at reading body and verbal language but I'm doing the best I can.
Highly recommend limiting screen time until your child is much older. Studies show that screens completely destroy children’s attention spans and creativity. My parents did that with me back in the late 90s and 00s. Not having tv, computers, and phones at my fingertips at all times really made me a creative, independent, and focused person. I will definitely be carrying that forward when I have children.
absolutely loved this video, really hoping and praying for the best for your family. you look gorgeous! i’m doing well! honestly really excited about online uni this term. laughing at the fact that you had a sexy buffy poster so much ahaha - my dad’s actually the producer of buffy and he has a sexy buffy poster in the house too - convinced it was part of my bisexual awakening!
YOUR DAD WAS THE PRODUCER THAT IS SO BLOODY INCREDIBLE AHHHH! :) Seriously that's just so SO cool! And oh GOD yes, she was just perfection in my young eyes...I think the fact that she was so badass and could clearly defend anyone made her even sexier to me :P
Melanie Murphy YOU are so badass and i just love you for it!! i’m glad you find that cool haha, my earliest memories are of being on set so i think i’m just too used to it! buffy was just an incredible character to be able to grow up watching though, so glad it’s still a loved show these days!!
OMG How did I not know you were in Vikings! I love that show. I need to watch it from the start again also Buffy is amazing! If you haven't watched Charmed I think you would like it!
We will be here waiting for you, sending positive energy, while you're taking care of your family! ❤ Some youutubers seem to fear loss of their subscribers when they take a break - but subscribers who really care about you and your channel want you to be happy and thriving - not necessarily posting on a set schedule ❤ So excited for you and your husband! Wishing you the best always Miss Mel!
Rachael Graham Yeah once a week will be impossible at first, I’m just gonna go with the flow and see what comes naturally but no writing or brand deals or any of the ‘work’ side of my job for a while 😊❤️
Gonna suggest something a little bit different for Mel or anyone looking for escapism (if it appeals even a little to you please give it a go because it's made by smaller creators but is worth all the funding in the world). So the channel Tablestory (on youtube and twitch) has a liveshow callesd GONE Basically it's a surreal thriller about memories and identity that's being roleplayed LIVE and yet the plot and acting is so amazing when you take into account that they are doing it all on the fly. So yeah once again GONE on Tablestory's youtube or twitch or in podcast form on their website.
What company do you own? How did you start it? Will you share with us your company obtaining journey?! I would be really grateful!! I'm sure I wouldn't be the only one also!! 💗
I own a media company that I set up a few years ago when I got to a certain level of income via freelancing/being self-employed as it made much more sense / is much easier with tax etc! I take a salary from my own company every month and then I get a dividend each year, my accountant manages all of my tax stuff (money in the company is taxed at a lower rate in Ireland) and if I need to buy something toward work (say my laptop broke, or I was invited to attend a convention - I'd buy the laptop or the train tickets/hotel/food for the trip using my company account! Similar to what my dad's company does! & then those are counted as company expenses...though 2020 as you can imagine I've had basically no company expenses hahaha other than my wages)...I have a few different streams of income via the company, over the years it has been a combo of: RUclips AdSense, book advances, fees for writing articles or doing paid-for talks for colleges or Google or wherever, brand deals, presenting gigs, royalties, license fees, consulting...loads of random stuff like that! :) xxxxx
Totally agree with you on the personality / gender! Also you are glowing even without the makeup! It's all the extra blood flow! I keep being told I'm glowing, just a detox with all the pukes and water, lol
OMFG my sister and I binged Fleabag when we first got home (was forced to return home from my dream New Zealand trip because Covid) and it is fucking stellar. It's incredible and you NEED to see it. As much as I know how much work it takes to get a book ready, I'm devastated to have to wait over a year for your next novel. Wahhh 😭 LOL
Loved this video❤️ if you feel up for it, after having your baby, talking about, not just post-partum bodies (in like, the weeks or few months after birth), but when the body is "supposed to be back to normal".. I would really love having you talk about that, since most often, bodies don't go back to exactly what they were before. And well, I'm struggling with that, even 6 months after having my second little boy and definetly not being back to how I used to look and I know I never will. Maybe you will be, but I just always like the way you talk about body image and I've learned a lot from it and would love to hear your thoughts about it in the future. In the meantime, good luck with everything and I'm looking forward to following what you want to share about becoming a mother. It really is the best❤️
I've been watching Vikings recently and really loving it! I'll have to keep an eye out for you when I re watch it lol. My husband is also 2 years younger than me and is called Tom.... *twilight zone*
My coping mechanism are watching videos about rollercosters. For some reason it relaxes me when i am really anxious, even trough i've never actully been on a rollercoster... Sounds weird but the amount of flashing colors and interesting facts keeps my mind occupied.
I don’t think you should feel the need to dedicate a video to your fears about pregnancy/birth/motherhood. It’s true of everything that ‘if you feed it, it will grow’ and focusing on your fears for a video will only make those fears stronger, and you’ve worked so hard with the positive birth company!
I think it depends on how often you see the person. My best friend had a horrible break up when her partner cheated on her and is sick of people asking 'how are you' when she sees them every day at work... Sick of faking an answer!
This is so true...if you feel really fucking shit it's probably the last question you want to hear as your answer will likely just be a SCREAM! Been there. xxx
Oh my god I’m so happy for you 😆😆You should post parenting videos when you have your baby I love watching parenting videos. I’m not gonna have child for at least 10 years (yes I’m that young) but I don’t care. Learning how to raise a human being is so interesting
About not wanting kids too late (not just because of fertility), I feel this so hard. My mom had me at 41, her mom had her at 42. They were both fine and healthy after the pregnancies, but I never met any of my grandparents. My mom never wanted to go on roller coasters with me. My siblings are so much older than I am so I basically feel like an only child. My dad passed away of cancer when I was 4 which of course was sad but he was almost 55. So while I absolutely don’t want kids any time soon (I’m 24 now), I understand what you mean about not wanting kids in your 40s or whatever . Like I think it worked out well for my mom but I want my future kids to know at least some of their grandparents and drag me on adventures, you know?
Thank you so much for sharing your experience! xxx This is it exactly (for me, anyway) like I'd obviously rather be an older parent than never have children at all - as would most people! And some people have no choice but to wait! But there come so many heartbreaking cons that people nowadays don't seem to take into consideration at all when planning out their lives xxxxx
I’m actually do relieved ur not putting your kid online bc family vloggers/content makes me so anxious lol and I didn’t want to have to stop watching you. I also think it’s good that more people don’t put their kids online in general

We don’t know and I would never risk that.
yes plus photos being used by pedophiles like it happened to the Sacconejolys.
Yeah! I would not like having my childhood online for everyone to see. I’m glad I grew up when parents didn’t have the internet to publish us on. 😅
when i saw this on your insta story i thought it said 'faking a pregnancy' and really freaked out for a second
omg same I was like whattttt this is fake ??
HAHAHAHAHA that is SO FUNNY because yesterday I filmed a collab with Sophie White who literally wrote two books about an influencer who fakes a pregnancy online...(Filter This and Unfiltered! 100% RECOMMEND lol)
Oh my god i thought this as well! 😂
Same!! I had to double check what I had read lol!
😂😂😂
Oh Lynda I am SO bloody happy for you! Stories like this warm my chest so much!
I'm actually glad you are not sharing your kid's identity. Props on you for protecting your child. I actually think you have no need to be apologetic about it. 💚
"Doing things to better someone else's life experiences"
That sentence actually made me cry.
That is so tough, what you had to go through at so young!
I like these “normal” type get ready with me’s better than anything crazy...they are relatable
Me too, I watch them all the time they just calm me down especially when in a bath or something!

Totally understand your decision to not want to put your child’s face online! The internet is great but it can also be a scary place. We support you Melanie!! Much love from Canada
Ahh thank you so much, Julia!
as a 00s baby i recommend allowing them to have a phone for social media when they hit puberty, just so they can do their own thing on there and research whatever they’re going thru! i got a phone at 6 and it has brought on far too many mental health issues that really snatched my childhood and adolescence away from me. i’m now 18 and still struggle badly w it all! you’ll be a great mama, lots of love x
“What are you most excited for your child to experience for the first time?”
No one:
Mel: páśtâ 👁👄👁
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
will you do a 'names we love but wont use' video? please, id love to hear you ideas
It's one of the only things that'll be very likely to keep me up at night haha! xxx
i’ve just finished watching a show called ‘This Is Us’ on amazon prime... ohh my god it’s art! it’s all about a family and their life, basically, and it flicks backwards and forwards in time, gradually revealing the life experiences of all of them so you get to understand all the relationship dynamics. it’s just soo good i 100% recommend it xxx
Melanie Murphy I know it’s such a horrible thing to do but sadly there can be people like that out there x
Not lighthearted in the least, but recently started watching Dark on Netflix, german mystery/horror show, it's amazing so far!
LITERALLY THE BEST AND MOST WELL THOUGHT OUT SHOW EVER!!!!
Oh my gosh girl, you gotta get on Mrs Maisel! It’s mine and my dad’s favorite show on amazon. So so good👌🏼👌🏼
I’ve watched it twice all the way through and it’s my happy place!!
Me too, must know which season and episode she was on lol
I can always only tell when I'm in a scene because I'll recall watching them act it out on the day over and over again in like 50 takes haha! It's usually back or side of the head etc but we're the girls in the blue dresses and plaits in season one or two I can't remember which was the first one I was in but I did two seasons back to back for two summers it was SO INCREDIBLY FUNNNN! I made a video years ago recreating the makeup of one of the female characters and shared lots more photos in that xxxxx

Hi Mel! I’ve been making a lot of progress on my self-confidence and embracing exactly who I am regardless of others’ opinions of me. As someone considering having children within the next few years these videos are SO helpful. Thank you for sharing so much with us!
seeing you so bubbly, joyous, and excited really just makes my heart so warm.
That's so incredible! Well done you, you did a brilliant job!
@@melaniemurphyofficial I totally agree - I just feel like I am kind of cheating when I prentend I have treated my children exactly the same. But after all they were not part of a social study - so I guess it's ok. ;)

I totally agree with you about having kids in this day and age with technology. I am 37 weeks and have loved watching your pregnancy updates :)
I feel exactly the same :/ I'm 28 and always knew I wanted children and I feel very pressured by time..

Your skin is always glowing Melanie you will be an awesome mother didn't know you were in Vikings love you Melanie great video
Aaahhh.

You are absolutely right, kids should not be exposed on line as they can not consent and understand the implications of the “game”. That’s why I have a hard time with family bloggers they trapped themselves into a system where the life of their kids is their income and there is nothing right about that. Pure exploitation. Keep on the good work!
You give such full and thoughtful ans to viewers its good to see!!! This bb cream looks beautiful
It is real to me Melanie.

Sending you love to you and your family, present and future ❤️ you have so much love in your heart and your child can already feel it

Melanie, just to let you know Fleabag season 2 is not on Amazon prime Ireland for some reason, it's advertised but the actual videos won't play... I have tried desperately.. but it's honestly an incredible show ❤️
oh NO are you serious!? I JUST STARTED WATCHING FEABAG I'll have to e-mail them and ask is it just down temporarily!
@@melaniemurphyofficial That is CRAZY!! Thanks so much for emailing, and for getting back!! The Fleabag fans of Ireland thank you!! 😂❤️
I kept looking at your hair! it's absolutely beautiful, looks so shiny, thick, healthy!
@@melaniemurphyofficial Haha!! Yeah sounds about right! xx
ALL THE BEST FOR YOUR BABY DELIVERY!!!!
I swear I binged fleabag in a day it was that good!
Loved this 💚💚💚 so super honest as usual u can tell how excited you are!!
Love your chatty vids! I usually watch them whilst having a bath because it relaxes me 😁💞Wishing you all the best! Xx
I love how you talk!! I hope you still do these kind of videos, they help a lot!! :)
Aw hope your baby arrives soon lovely it is an awful time I agree Netflix YT and books have got me through! 🙌👏💖
Some youutubers seem to fear loss of their subscribers when they take a break - but subscribers who really care about you and your channel want you to be happy and thriving - not necessarily posting on a set schedule ❤
So excited for you and your husband!
:) xxxxx
Pregnancy glow exists:it comes from being nauseous😅 when people told me I was glowing first trimester it was from being sick all day🤪
hahahahaha oh GOD YOU POOR THING
Totally agree with you on the personality / gender! Also you are glowing even without the makeup! It's all the extra blood flow! I keep being told I'm glowing, just a detox with all the pukes and water, lol
OMFG my sister and I binged Fleabag when we first got home (was forced to return home from my dream New Zealand trip because Covid) and it is fucking stellar. It's incredible and you NEED to see it.
As much as I know how much work it takes to get a book ready, I'm devastated to have to wait over a year for your next novel. Wahhh 😭 LOL
love you Mel
# when you casually mention you were an extra on a show and my reaction is like O_______O WHAAA HOW COOOLLLLL
I am interested in what your day 'at work' looks like!
Birth plan video please!!! It fascinates me how each and every woman has something different in mind for the birth of their children!
I started being really interested in parenting content nearly ten years ago myself! :)
Melanie Murphy ily💗💗
Ooh I've been waiting all evening x I'll have to watch in it a bit while I eat my pancakes 😊😊
You’re so so wise. Love your videos xx
The Fall on Netflix is amazing if your looking for a good show to watch Melanie x
I really want a tutorial on how you styled your hair this way 😍😍😍
THAT LITTLE FLEABAG SCENE HIT ME LIKE A BRICK
I’m actually do relieved ur not putting your kid online bc family vloggers/content makes me so anxious lol and I didn’t want to have to stop watching you. I also think it’s good that more people don’t put their kids online in general
Nobody asked but I watch you during my lunch break :D I love it hahaha
pleaaaaseeeee let us know what you think about Fleabag!
love you so much Melanie!
