      Pete Johns This was somewhat advanced! Might be harder to quickly grasp w/out some music theory background. I’ve not really worked w/loops, but would like to in the future, & it’ll be so much easier now. I watch even your beginner videos, because invariably there’ll be some nugget that I completely missed when “learning it on my own.” 🙄 I don’t know if you have a “day job” outside music, but if so, I hope it’s teaching, because of the natural gift you have. 👏

    Awesome thanks Pete. Big question ....do you have a vid for installing the new Apple loops from a project I have in iPad into my Mac? I’m going crazy trying to find the answer! I’ve “reinstalled sound library” but still they are missing on my Mac. I’ll keep searching your vids in the hope an answer is lurking. Many thanks, Marion

    • @PeteJohnsMusic
      @PeteJohnsMusic  5 лет назад

      Hey Marion. I have little experience I’m afraid, but I have heard that some of the sounds are simply not available on Mac so projects won’t always be compatible.
      The work around is to merge and tracks with loops down to an audio track. Here’s a refresher on using merge if you need it - ruclips.net/video/imcgX2bW8rk/видео.html.

    • @marionannmacredie

      Pete Many thanks! I will look at that one.basically I’m trying to get my tracks into Mac so I can then use Logic Remote to mix . This seemed like a good way for a mere beginner to use logic remote as I can visually see there what tracks are clipping. Of course all this is to enable me to get a decent mix so I can Master. I then thought Landr would be good as my mastering skills are non existent. I guess if Mac won’t give me the instruments I’ve used on my iPad songs I will have to resort to trying to master myself on Final Touch ,which I have but don’t really want to get into yet another big learning curve. If you know how I could use logic remote to mix only using my iPad I would be grateful. I just want to make songs!! Waaahhhhh, the more you know , the more you don’t know. Thanks heaps. 🦋🦋🌹🌹

      Brilliant! Glad to hear it. It's a bit of a hack/workaround, but works a treat in my experience when things aren't compatible.

    Good video! I also noticed the different loops keys because if you combine the apple or midi loops using different packs you won’t always have the right combination. Also, I’m gonna add something: if you use acid wav loops or loops that automatically change key, for example loops from loopmasters, they will also change to the key you are working on. So, let’s say if you use a loop labelled as a Gm for example and your project is in C, the loop will also change to the C (but not C major then). It would be awesome if in the next update Garageband for iOS will let us play the loops in the original key, as it happens on the Mac version.

    • @PeteJohnsMusic
      @PeteJohnsMusic  5 лет назад +1

      Yes! I was trying to find a workaround that could just drop the loops in their native key but there seems to be no way, even with the “follow song key” disabled. Sometimes I want to build around a loop and want to make sure I’m getting the pure sound, not something transposed that might end up with some clicks and pops.

    • @PabloDeModeOfficial
      @PabloDeModeOfficial 5 лет назад +1

      Pete Johns Absolutely. That’s why, if you only rely on apple loops, you can have issues regarding sound quality, which is quite frustrating. But, nevertheless, with a bit of work and patience we can also achieve good results :)

    • @PeteJohnsMusic
      @PeteJohnsMusic  5 лет назад +1

      Very true! How's your music creation going my friend? Anything new in the works personally?

    • @PabloDeModeOfficial
      @PabloDeModeOfficial 5 лет назад

      Pete Johns Well, I am still writing lyrics but I have to give them and the music some kind of form. This year wasn’t yet for me so productive. I am falling into some bad habits I had in the past, such as collecting sounds, trying new instruments but still have no song done yet, even when I have enough tools. I can name the problem: when working alone, I ask myself “why am I still doing this”? My goal is to sing and perform to people: I notice that there’s is no real connection when it happens. At the other hand I don’t have stage fear! That’s a good thing and that’s all. So... Still I keep positive and you and your channel are a great inspiration source for me.

    Is there any way to change the key to G flat? Or is there a key that would work around these chords. Started a song and really liking my chords but want to add to it on GarageBand with the right key

    • @PeteJohnsMusic

      Hey there. Yes, you can match the loops to your other sounds by changing the key signature of the project - ruclips.net/video/UCh2qGjrP74/видео.html

    From what I’ve gathered so far, all I know are the midi tracks are in major while the apple loops are in minor...for the synths at least.....

    • @PeteJohnsMusic
      @PeteJohnsMusic  5 лет назад +1

      Yeah, it’s quite variable, but a lot of the electronic and synth instruments are indeed in minor keys.

    Hey!! This isn’t related to the video but I’ve been thinking and the more I thought the more I wanted it to be a video request, but I have a video request of YOUR top 10 most wanted GarageBand instrument sounds.
    (R.I.P. harpsichord, where are you?! Pshhh, at least we have the hammered piano, which is similar)
    Also I’m so excited for you to hit 20 thousand subscribers! You deserve, SO much more. Maybe you could do the video as a 20k sub special? That is if you haven’t planned anything already of course!

    • @PeteJohnsMusic
      @PeteJohnsMusic  5 лет назад

      My friend, throw your requests out there. I have a list which is about 80 strong, but I pick based on how I feel in the day, so your suggestion may skip to the front of the queue. 😄
      Thanks for your support. I won’t pretend that reaching 20k won’t be a pretty cool milestone, but I’m genuinely stoked for each individual person I get to connect with, especially folks like you who support and encourage me through your contributions to my videos and live streams. 👍

    Actually if u go to track settings and transposition, even if it’s up an octave, u can still drop it back down an octave to make it sound better.....

    • @PeteJohnsMusic
      @PeteJohnsMusic  3 года назад +1

      Yup. Transposing is definitely a cool option.

    Why doesn’t Garageband let you to have access to ALL of the Apple Loops when you’re working in a project, instead of the ones they think you should use?

    RUclips!!! "Chose when you want to watch ads" "feature" is super obnoxious. I don't want to watch ads in the first place, but since both you and content provider needs to make money I understand the need for ads. Just don't ask us this stupid annoying questions. Play the fucking ads whenever you want as you did before.

    • @PeteJohnsMusic
      @PeteJohnsMusic  4 года назад +1

      Not aware of this? Sounds very strange. I use RUclips Premium personally because I’d rather pay a flat monthly fee instead of watching ads but will have to explore this. I try to limit ads as I’m also annoyed by creators who stretch out an 8 minute video to 10 minutes and 1 second because it means they can stick an ad in the middle.
