Studying on my own, slogged through chapter 1 of Wheelocks Latin and I think I have a decent grasp on that. Then I reach the very beginning a of chapter 2, and so many terms to memorize, and that's before I even get to the Latin! Thank you for the song and video, these are proving very beneficial to my learning, and honestly rather catchy as well, after a listen or two. Thank you!
I'm right with you on Wheelock's Latin. I thought chapter 1 was pretty easy and I got a little too confident. Then came Chapter 2. This kicked my butt. Finally getting a grasp of what i'm doing.
Mwaniki Mwaniki try agora academy, it’s a more basic Latin course, for school age children, but it’s proving essential to understanding basics before moving onto the more advanced training from Wheelock’s Latin. That is if your studying on your own like I am. Maybe with an instructor Wheelock’s is better, but on my own it proved to be tough without feedback to say if I did something correct it incorrectly.
I am learning latin for choir, and we just hit the first declension yesterday! I had to see if there was a song!! My tutor does classicial andvi do church latin! Kinda funny when some prounciations, but we get through! I am enjoying it! Catchy tune!
This song was what finally worked for my Latin student when he was learning the first declension endings. All of my children love it - from the twelve year old down to the one year old. Please do more!
Imagine you go to rome and in the gladiatorial arena you have to fight the biggest, strongest man in rome, and this is his boss music When he gets down to 10% he says “is that all you got? FASTER!!!” and heals up to full, then it plays the end where the song is 2x speed
Thanks for the question! The vocative endings are the same as the nominative in all but the second declension masculine, and for that reason they are frequently not included in the standard noun charts. We will address the vocative endings when we get to the second declension though....so stay tuned!
my half brother knows latin and has for almost 4 years and he has always pronounced the r i think you might be thinking of how you dont pronounce a v as v and instead pronounce it as w as in silva, or you just aren't used to hearing short, sort of rolled r's.
This is very helpful if you’re trying to learn Latin. but it makes no sense why we need to learn this because Latin is a dead language. Catchy song but will never use it in life.
Latin is very helpful in the SAT as you can understand derivatives that come from a certain Latin word. It can also help in your vocabulary. There is also a National Latin Exam in which people win awards for their scores. If you don't get anything, it's like it never happened. Latin is a very helpful language if learned well. The other languages are also helpful if you wish to travel or are interested in the culture of the place the language comes from.
I've learned so much English grammar and my English vocabulary greatly expanded because I learned Latin. Latin is extremely helpful. Many of the greatest minds to ever live had a classical education.
