To the person that videotaped this evening, thank you. You certainly knew the assignment and this is a true time capsule to a wonderful evening nearly 35 years ago. Fantastic footage.

This so very true. It’s like going back in time to the summer nights watching the orioles in dear old memorial stadium.

@@mouchiecat1They could've picked a better year than 1988. The Orioles were historically terrible that year.

Notice that not nearly as many people wore team apparel back then. Now when you go to a game, it’s a sea of orange jerseys and t-shirts. Times have certainly changed! Go O’s!

I know what you mean. My wife and I went to a Braves game in Atlanta this summer and we both noticed that nearly every person there was wearing some sort of Braves gear. I'm sure it's the same with most teams now. There's a lot more "stuff" to buy these days.

Was born in 83, was at the last series at Memorial Stadium, and the first at OPCY. Not many memories from this time, but this video triggered memories of walking to Memorial Stadium this same route!

I remember all of that, 33rd St, the parking lot where we used to wait to get autographs after the game, the ticket windows, the ushers in their orange jackets.
I moved out of the area in 88 and never went to another game until I took my kids to Camden Yards in 2016. Great experirnce, no doubt, but I miss the neighborhood vibe at Memorial. Right on down to the teenage hoodlums who promised not to smash our windshield for $20!

This is amazing. Waverly is still such a beautiful neighborhood but it blows my mind to see such a clear vision of the stadium smack dab in the center of what is mostly just a grass field now.

Wow, an old Chuck Thompson on the mic. Had the smoothest voice for a baseball announcer. Wasn’t an Os fan but did enjoy listening to him calling games.

I grew up in Baltimore during the 80s and I can remember the times spent at Memorial Stadium watching the O's play. Those were some great times, really sad day when they finally brought the stadium down.

The Old Gray Lady. Spent many a summer night there.. The best, for me were the teams from the mid 60’s/early 70’s. And, most times, we’d win. It was great. I’d like to see another World Series, the first at Camden Yards…… Seen 6…..

Oh, man, watching this makes me think of James Earl Jones's speech from Field of Dreams, that they'd play when they shut this place down.
"And they'll watch the game, and it'll be as if they'd dipped themselves in magic waters. The memories will be so thick, they'll have to brush them away from their faces."
It really hit me hearing Jon Miller and Chuck Thompson doing play by play, with Rex Barney on the PA, then looking out on the bleachers past the outfield wall. I know there are houses past there, even if you can't see them at night. As a kid, I assumed the players lived there.

Actually some of them lived nearby back when I was a kid in late 60’s. A friend of our family used to give boog Powells kid candy and cookies. Different world but truly wonderful memories.

I live quite close to this area. I know every step of the way today. Whoever filmed this did a great job. Next time I'm near there I'm sure I'll be thinking about what it would have looked like back before I was born (1998). Awesome video.

Is there anymore footage of this day. Me and my Brother were at this game. My brother accidentally dropped his film in LF and they had to pause the game to throw it back to him. This game is one of most memorable games and has been in my mind insane to see this video. I remember the Orioles beat Dave Stewart and this great A’s team. Eddie Murray and Fred Lynn hit Hrs. Wow this brings a tear to my eye watching it.

Wasn't it so nice you could drive and park in the neighborhood and walk in. It was an experience talking to people as you walked in and buy peanuts and aT Shirt maybe along the way.
Try to park and walk there now. You ain't coming back.
Don't try to say things are better in Baltimore today.
