  • This video is from race 1 on Saturday in group 4. NER SCCA hosted a fantastic weekend at Lime Rock. Thanks to everyone who made the races happen!
I'm in SSM #16, and most cars around me are SM. The red car is another SSM, but the way the race unfolded, we never directly battled. I had a blast and learned a lot in this race.
On lap 7, entering turn 1, I stuck my nose in between a car that was passing me on the inside and one I wanted to pass. The gap just closed right up, and we had bumper cars. After reviewing the video, it's clear that this was the likely outcome, and I contributed to this incident. During the race, I thought the car on the outside turned into me, but now I think he had no choice, and I wasn't far enough forward to have position. I would have been way better off dropping in behind the inside car, which was faster than me. As it turns out, in the video, I see a car passing him on the inside too, which is why it seems he squeezes left. Thankfully, all drivers and cars were OK, but it screwed up the race for the inside car. Not good. But, at least it was a lesson learned.
This incident let the other SSM (red car) pass me, and I thought we might get to battle, but I got a good jump on the restart. Hopefully, we'll meet again on the track.
I also got a little too aggressive by squeezing a car on the last two laps. @nathansaxonracing helped me understand the rules and etiquette after the race, and I need to pick a lane and stay there. There were no consequences, and I did better in the next race.
Despite these issues, I had such a blast during this race (I didn't know I did anything wrong until after I got out of the car). I can't wait for more.
Thanks to Peter at North Atlantic Racing Academy for the great car, and to my race coach @nathansaxonracing!

loads of lifting off, why? racing is... 100% throttle or 100% brake, sometimes both. 100%, flat, pinned, in the peak rev range
