Here's fuel for thought: as 3D beings, we can fully perceive anything and everything on a 2D plane (as demonstrated by the circle-in-the-box scenario), however due to the lack of the third dimention, a (theoretical) 2D person would find it impossible to look "up" and see us, as we simply exist above their dimension. Taking this one step further - if a 4D person was to look at a 3D plane, they too would be able to perceive everything at once - you, the house you're in, the plumbing of the house, your organs digesting your last meal... anything. And the scary part is, as we exist on a 3D plane, we would be completely unable to look "out" to see these 4D people. They could exist, and be watching you read this, right now, but you wouldn't be able to tell. ;)

@@cb1671 Would you though? Go back to the example I gave about a 2D plane - how would a 2D human be able to look "up", and see us? They simply can't, as they're restricted in what they can see by the plane on which they exist. They could probably see our shadow, if we were to cast it over them, but that's about it. In terms of 3D observing 4D, I see no reason as to why we wouldn't be able to see the shadow of a 4D person, but we wouldn't be able to directly observe them.

If it were true, your 'shadow' would invert itself inside out every time your real body rotated... I don't think most people sleep normally until they turn over and have all of their innards pop out and wrap around them! But those are still the right types of questions to ask
It's interesting because we can't see 4D objects because we live in a 3D universe, however, hypothetically speaking, we could see the 3D shadows of 4D objects if we found some.
The 3D image of the moving tesserac really helped me understand things a lot better. It's like life blooms around you. You can open 3d objects up and around and back into themselves. Think flipping a doughnut inside out and back again.

@@Loo_Kah no. The 4th dimensional cube that we all call "tesseract" is the equivalent of a glass box in our dimension. It is made for us to understand how cubes work on 4 dimensions. The real terrasact is a "closed" object in our perspective, we will still be able to see all it's sides but we will need to walk around the box to see it. However, as for 4d beings, they will be able to see it's "shadow" as a 3d object, but will still be able to see all it's sides even if they looked at it in one perspective. Basically, it's similar on how "glass" cubes are made for nursery students to understand how a box works, and how the shadow of a box works, we will be able to see all sides of it as a line at an upper perspective, but 2d beings will need to walk around to see all of it's sides. I hope your mind doesn't shut off simultaneously after reading this...
The idea of 4th dimension beings can see inside the box is not correct. If there's actually a fourth dimension then there could be another part of the box that we didn't know which could block the view to see the sphere.

4D is time doesn't rly make sense every demension has time in it, being able to go in the past when you existed let's say exactly 10seconds and then you go in the future also exactly 10seconds does not make sense if you think about it like there should be a difference even so close to zero that could be considered negligible so well you didn't exist in that time. When we take 4d as time you existing in the past present and future doesn't really make sense since 4D is just 3D with more perpendicular lines or more planes that makes the 4D somewhat special so just so you know time is not 4D

Of course not, just because you can’t observe something from one perspective doesn’t nullify it’s existence. And your example relies heavily on time TRAVEL, instead of what time is supposed to be: a measurement system. Just like length, width, and distance. Sound familiar? Let’s try something, say we have a ball and a box. You take the ball and put it in the box. Where’s the ball? In the box, of course. You watched it go in there, you remember it. You can envision it in there. Hell, here’s an extremely convenient visual for what you’re probably thinking of: 3:35 . This is a little something called object permanence, the one thing we use to identify intelligence in organisms, and surprisingly ignore it everywhere else. Honestly, I’m just tired of seeing these geometry buffs insisting that anything “4D” has to still be something you can see, taste, and put your dick in. @@theplacebeyondthelies2429 but what if time isn't a dimension. What if an atom is a 3dimensional representation of a higher dimensional object. As explained by Da Shi, a cigarette filter is a small thing, but if you were to unroll it and spread it out as a 2d object, it would fill a whole room. As dimensionality rises, physical presence would diminish. Earth, unfolded entirely into a 2d plane would be infinitely larger, but as the speed of light is a constant, on this hypothetical 2d plane, light would take longer to cross the same distance, so time would also move relatively slower due to absolute constraints.
I liked seeing the 2D shadow of a rotating cube behaving exactly the same way as the 2D shadow of the 3D shadow of the rotating tesseract. It really isn't as strange as it's usually claimed to be.
Imagine being on a plane (graph paper, or even just plain old line paper), and you are a line on the 2-D surface X,Y. The paper represents where (You) are and what (You) can percive. If, let's say we have a circle on the paper as well, it would look like a line, save for when it moves either farther, or closer, on the two planes of existence. If we took a shpere, a 3-D object and tried to move it on said 2-d plane, it would be confined to the rules of said dimensional plane. Since the Shere would be able to move in three different dimensions, X,Y,Z The object would appear to be 2-D to you. As the object moves side to side on the x and y scales, it would look normal. Things get weird when you start moving on an axis that doesn't exist. The shpere, while moving on the Z axis passing through the 2-D plane would appear to shrink until it looks like nothing is there, before suddenly popping back up and growing in size. This is a really compact version of things I've been thinking about and am not really sure if its correct.

i agree, i sometime think that ghosts are 4 dimension beings where we can't see it clearly but can sense them in our 3d senses only... and when we see them, the image is scary because the distortions and errors in our 3d senses ...
Interesting but wouldn’t the 4d being have mass? You can’t clearly see them but you would know something is there because you hit them but wouldn’t be able to determine what it was. Similar to the ball and box in the 2d plane. You see a line but couldn’t see that it is a box with a ball inside but you know it is something because you hit the box. Maybe you could determine there is something in the box because of experiments like banging on the box and hear that it is hollow.
Maths explain them, we on the other hand visualize things with respect to other things we have seen before, there is nothing for reference when visualizing 4th dimension hence we fail to understand it visually.
My main take-away was that if you could see in 4d, then no clothing could ever hide sweet bazongas from my view..... I now have a new dream. Ironically, this line of thinking is basically how life perpetuates itself and facilitates evolution. You are all very welcome.
When you die, you go to the 4D plane. There, you will be able to perceive everything in the 3D plane still, just as we can perceive anything in the 2D plane. However, just as anything in the 2D plane would not be able to perceive anything in the 3D plane (us), we are unable to perceive anything in the 4D plane. When you die, you become less of an astral being and more of a light source able to see everything. To take it one step further, maybe we're all already dead while our relatives from the 2D plane continue to mourn us... idek what im saying
@@seanleith5312 not really. We just can't understand it. If we pick something up from a 2d world, a 2d being would witness it disappear right in front of them since they can't see up or down. You can't explain how it happened to a 2d being. If a 4d being was to move an object to the extra dimension that they have access to, we would witness it disappear. For us it's impossible, but for them its not.

I got close once, I attempted to visualize wormholes connecting 2 points in 3D space I started with the 2D projection of a gravity well and slowly expanded that out in to 3 dimensions (this is already hard enough, as an accurate 3D portrayal of gravity wells requires an inside out sphere) then I spent half an hour trying to move that into some form of 4D approximation I reached a point where I swear I almost had it, only to suffer a sudden headache (which went away just as suddenly) and lose it That was a few years ago, I have not been able to reach that point since
This was actually a really good visualisation of the 4D shape through shadows...the weird animations they throw at us for tesseracts without any real explanation never made sense until I watched this, so thanks! Another one I really liked was an interactive experience someone made of 4D objects slicing (the best way to describe it I think) 'into' 3D space, much like how a 3d object would look to a 2D space person if it went through their space. You were talking about time and space, do you know if people have looked at time as it's own dimensions? A point in time (1D), linear time (2D) and probability (3D)? If so, know any good links?
You got it slightly wrong... A point in time is 0D just like it is in space you can't move. linear time is 1D since you can move forward. Probability is 2D so there are multiple simple timelines parallel stacked one over the other. The question is... what is the Third dimension in time? Theory about the 2nd dimension of time : The laws of physics in the world remains same. It is the natural selection factors that differs. Let's say in a world you toss a coin. No matter how many timelines you see the outcome will be the same if the surrounding conditions are. Now let's say there is another Earth where dinosaurs aren't dead. Why? Because of the law of natural selection. There is always a tiny randomisation in every world. For example, you can have a new element in some other world. Now let's say the meteor that was supposed to hit Earth was made up of a certain element but it doesn't exist in another universe, how will there be a meteor then? Or what if the meteor was made up of some other element and it never came to Earth due to that. Therefore, we can conclude that probability can only be altered by factors such as chemical reactions and the randomness of consciousness....

Just a suggestion: Turn on the Phase Reverse on your Preamp/ DAW for your microphone to eliminate the "underwater" out-of-phase sound, and turn your compressor to at least 4:1 to level out the constant change in distance from the mic. The presentation itself is good.

For anyone wondering, the difference between a true 4D Klein bottle vs. the 3D facsimile is: The 4D version doesn't need to pass through itself in order to connect its inside surface to its outside surface.
I agree, it's hard to wrap my mind around too. We don't have the mental capacity to directly visualize 4D objects, because our capacity for visualization is learned from what we can see in the outside world. (hence why people born blind have non-visual dreams.) But the concept is similar to this: A figure-8 is the 2D facsimile of a Moebius strip, but a real 3D Moebius strip doesn't need to pass through itself to connect its two ends together like a figure-8 does, because a real 3D Moebius strip has that extra degree of freedom provided by the Z axis. Similarly a real 4D Klein bottle has an extra degree of freedom provided by the W axis, allowing the little connecting tube to wrap around its main body instead of having to pass through it.

After so many years of watching and understanding 4rth dimensional space, this is the one video thats i clearly understand and now i know how 4rth dimensional works cause many video are too hard to get
I imagine 4 or more dimensions as connecting two parts of the room that do not normally connect in 3 dimensions but can also connect in 3 dimensions. It is also like having an invisable space directly next to you that you can't see but you know is there. Almost like seeing something out of the corner of your eye but when you look at it it is gone. Also I imagine 4 or more dimensions almost like a room of mirrors where the reflected images actually connect even though an image reflected through two mirrors does not touch the image still appears in the second mirror. Now imagine that a 4th dimensional object can pass through what would seem like a solid object in 3 dimensions and be viewed as a 3 dimensional object. What would happen if you touched a 4 dimensional object passing through a 3d plane? Well I imagine it would feel like "pins and needles" since this object does not actually exist in 3 dimensions. However it would be very interesting to note how 4th dimensional objects can interact with 3 dimensional objects in unseen ways like from the invisible space that I mentioned earlier. For example if you knock an object off the table it falls to the floor. In this example if you were to knock an object through 4 dimensions it would disappear, bump your arm from an unseen direction and then land in the corner of the room. Hypothetically speaking of course 😅😅😅
This is the sixth video about 4D I've watched. I understand NOTHING. My brain is just too visual, if I can't picture something then I can't process it.
That's the thing about visualizing higher dimensions, it's impossible. No matter what way you try to visualize moving in a fourth direction, it will always be a three dimensional movement because we live in a three dimensional space, luckily we can theorize a two or one dimensional space to help us better understand the space around us.
This is like trying to imagine what blind people see. They don't see what we see when we close our eyes, they see what we see when we try to see outta our elbows, or back of our head.
so 4D is being able to see the front and back of something, like a medical scan. that kinda makes sense cause you don't see them at the same time but time isn't a spacial dimension. when you see a shape you are always seeing a max of three sides (ex. top, left, right, in isometric), but a cube has 6 sides so you need to see the other three sides to see the full shape ( += bottom, back-left, back-right). So having a fly-through/walk-around image scan is another dimension than a regular "3d" jpeg image.

Bottom line: We cannot experience with our senses, including mental visualization, ANY dimension other than the 3rd (leaving aside Time as a 4th). We can neither see nor visualize in our minds a 2-dimensional object, nor can we a 4-dimensional object. But it can be fun trying. It'll never happen (imo) but still. . .
there you are partially right, lets say 4th is temperature, a 3d projected ball would be a slight coating of red color (with a gradient representing 'depth' reflection), or other color depending on heat wavelength, but would look like a simple 3d when its still 4d.
Time is not a dimension unless gravity is. Time is linear because it is a measurement of idea's of conscious thought, measures of matter or reality, sentient thought is a product of the dimensional matter it is composed of, the shell that restricts it our bodies. If it develops other senses to perceive various other dimensions it is capable of conceiving, and considering it, yet very limited in it's ability to express it. I imagine being able to sense higher dimensions and then trying to explain it to the normal person would make one seem insane lol. The example of us watching one such explanation on a 2D screen leaves something missing, something to be desired :).

Nah. 4D creatures are able to see our organs, brains and lungs just as fine as we can see internals of 2D creatures. They perceive 3D volume as a whole just as we perceive plane as a whole.

But in instances when we do see them would probably be because they somehow got into our 3D world and my personal explaination based on theories of when people hear ”ghosts talk” is that sound can bounce through levels of different dimensions so it passes though our level sometimes, so we can’t see the entities talking because they exist on another level, however, we can hear the sound waves made by them because it bounces to our level

This is my theory: I think the reason why we can't comprehend and imagine the 4th dimension is because we are trapped in the 3rd dimension. So we are facing the same problem as Flatlanders imagining the 3rd dimension. I firmly believe the universe is a 4th dimensional space (in which the Planets represent the 3 dimensional objects in it) If we could comprehend higher dimensions we could see the wholeness of the universe.
I think that's interesting but also I think there is even a simpler explanation. Someone who is color blind can't comprehend color, even someone who had never gotten wet before can't comprehend that feeling. What I'm saying is that the capabilities of our minds is only to compare new things to previous experiences. We simply are unable to compute the actual EXPERIENCE of something that we have no reference for.
3:25, 4th-dimensional beings cannot see every side of a 3d shape. In fact, they cannot see any sides of a 3d shape. This is because those in the 4th cannot see 2 dimensional surfaces as they don’t have any depth, only length & width. Much like we, as 3d creatures, cannot see 1 dimensional surfaces as they do not have any width, only length. So essentially, if you, a 3-dimensional being, were to look at an unscrambled rubix cube, you would be able to count six different colours across six 2d surfaces. If a 4-dimensional being were to look at the same unscrambled rubix cube, it would appear as one, single-coloured surface (it could appear purple for all we know). Much like we don’t know what colour a square’s edge is to a 2-dimensional being, those in the 4th dimension won’t know what colour a cube’s face is to us 3-dimensional beings.
My favorite part is existence. All those electrons and photons we used to think were separate entities that 'act weird' are actually strings going through 4-D space and they act exactly how you'd expect a string to act. The 'particles' are the result of the strings intersecting our 3rd dimension, thus we see dots, cross sections of strings.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but this is string theory, correct? String theory hasn't had any observational evidence to confirm it, so at this point you would be as well attributing it all to probability - Occam's Razor and all that.
@ThatOneRedditor It does have observational evidence, but it's somewhat thin. It's based on the observations of quantum particles 'seeming' to be in multiple places at once (which violates all the conventional laws of physics). Similar to how dark matter theory is based on the observation that 'something' is bending the light in those Hubble Telescope Deep Space pictures. String theory would be a lot stronger if they could map out the strings and predict their changes based on algorithms. I'm sure people 10 times smarter than me are already on that.
It's plenty possible for string theory to be wrong. Even if it was morphed into 'tetrahedron theory', where all particles are part of 4-D tetrahedrons, it'd still be the same concept-- That everything is part of a fourth dimension. There's also controversy over whether the fourth dimension is time or not. I consider time to be dimension 3a, but if 3a is the answer to the problem, then that would definitely change the entirety of where quantum science will be going and the idea of 4, 5, 6+ dimensions would remain abstract mathematical concepts. 3a and 4 could both be the answer, which would make things considerably more complicated. There's also the concept of multiple time dimensions, but that's way beyond what I'm ready to grind my brain against. In a few hundred years, this stuff we're struggling to answer will probably be taught to kids in the 3rd grade.
1:11 that 4D tesseract diagram on a 2D plane is the most neat i have ever seen. Plus it baffles my mind in the sense that we already see 3D objects on our 2D screens or pages. But here, we are seeing a 2D representation of a 4D object on a 2D plane inside a 2D screen!
Guys if you don’t understand 4D, just keep in mind there is 11 dimensions, the first 3 are the one we are "using" and we can kinda understand the 4th one but there is plenty more that are too subtle to notice, probably even more then just 11
An excellent way to bridge the gap between 3D and 4D is to use 3.5D (3 and a half dimensions) as a stepping stone. Just like a graphics/animation artist using 2.5D as a foundation to help explore the 3D realm of the arts, we can all use 3.5D as the central focus point between these two dimensions and use these grounds to compare and contrast the data that we already know so far. If m surprised that nobody has come to this realization as of yet.
Also, fractal dimension wouldn't work because it isn't about spacial dimensions. Fractal dimension is different for every shape in a certain spacial dimension.
That weird shaped square you made was shown to me by a being while in a dmt trip. He was playing with it like a toy and asked me if I understood. Not even closely lol. We are absolutely unable to conceive of a 4th dimension. It is merely a concept to us as humans. We can describe it in many conceptual ways, but there is no way to *truly* conceive of it. Even the 3rd dimension is not *truly* experienced by us. Our eyes can only actually view objects as 2-dimensional projections. We can only perceive of the 3rd dimension because we learned how to on a 2-dimesional plane. We can understand things as 3-dimensional in the world because we able to move and change our perspective over time and view them from different angles. If there's a 3-dimensional cube on the ground, I can look at it as 2D from the front, then start walking around to the side, visually capturing many 2D "frames" over time and conclude that it has depth, along with 2 other spacial dimensions that I can truly perceive of, width and height, thus "perceiving" it as 3D. We can even "perceive" of objects as 3-dimensional in a 2-dimensional projection (eg. on a piece of paper) because we understand that objects further away are smaller. Other things like shadows aid our perception and experience of the 3rd dimension as well. This all follows the n-1 rule: 0D - Coordinations 1D - Projection of a 1D line is a 0D coordination 2D - Projection of a 2D plane is a 1D line 3D - Projection of a 3D cube is a 2D square (plane) / 3D sphere is a 2D circle 4D - Projection of a 4D object is a 3D object, as conceptually described in the video. The 4th dimension can be described as the spacial orientation of overlapping 3-dimensional spaces, connected as vertices. A tesseract is connected on all 90-degree angles, but the animation to describe it doesn't seem so, due to our inability of true perception of such an object.

As he said in the video the trick is to look at the changes from 2nd dimension to 3rd dimension, which we can actually understand and visualise, and extend them to the change from 3rd to 4th dimension.
This is the first time I've got a small glimmer of understanding about how mathematicians can theorise about how many dimensions there are and what their properties are using just maths.
The 4th dimension is basically x-ray. The 3 dimensions allow us to see what's inside a 2 dimensional shape without any interaction and the 4th dimension would allow us to see what's contained within a 3 dimensional shape without any interaction. Your vision would not be hindered by any physical objects, you could literally look straight through them if you wanted to.
Actually our eyes will still be only able to see 2d objects. Even if we look down from extra height of the fourth dimension. So we would never really be able to see a 3d object in its entirety. However if we look down from the fourth dimension's extra height we would be able to see inside an object without opening the object up.
If we were 4-dimensional beings, we would have 3-dimensional retinas. Each of our eyes would be able to directly measure the positions of objects in the "height", "width", _and_ "distance" dimensions, and then our brains could use the parallax between our two eyes to calculate the positions of objects in the 4th dimension as well. So yes, it would be mathematically possible for 4-dimensional beings to see all surfaces of a 3D object simultaneously, just like 3-dimensional beings can see all edges of a 2D object simultaneously.

Here's fuel for thought: as 3D beings, we can fully perceive anything and everything on a 2D plane (as demonstrated by the circle-in-the-box scenario), however due to the lack of the third dimention, a (theoretical) 2D person would find it impossible to look "up" and see us, as we simply exist above their dimension.
Taking this one step further - if a 4D person was to look at a 3D plane, they too would be able to perceive everything at once - you, the house you're in, the plumbing of the house, your organs digesting your last meal... anything. And the scary part is, as we exist on a 3D plane, we would be completely unable to look "out" to see these 4D people. They could exist, and be watching you read this, right now, but you wouldn't be able to tell. ;)

They simply can't, as they're restricted in what they can see by the plane on which they exist. They could probably see our shadow, if we were to cast it over them, but that's about it.
In terms of 3D observing 4D, I see no reason as to why we wouldn't be able to see the shadow of a 4D person, but we wouldn't be able to directly observe them.

The real terrasact is a "closed" object in our perspective, we will still be able to see all it's sides but we will need to walk around the box to see it. However, as for 4d beings, they will be able to see it's "shadow" as a 3d object, but will still be able to see all it's sides even if they looked at it in one perspective. Basically, it's similar on how "glass" cubes are made for nursery students to understand how a box works, and how the shadow of a box works, we will be able to see all sides of it as a line at an upper perspective, but 2d beings will need to walk around to see all of it's sides. As explained by Da Shi, a cigarette filter is a small thing, but if you were to unroll it and spread it out as a 2d object, it would fill a whole room. As dimensionality rises, physical presence would diminish. Earth, unfolded entirely into a 2d plane would be infinitely larger, but as the speed of light is a constant, on this hypothetical 2d plane, light would take longer to cross the same distance, so time would also move relatively slower due to absolute constraints.

Imagine being on a plane (graph paper, or even just plain old line paper), and you are a line on the 2-D surface X,Y. The paper represents where (You) are and what (You) can percive. If, let's say we have a circle on the paper as well, it would look like a line, save for when it moves either farther, or closer, on the two planes of existence. If we took a shpere, a 3-D object and tried to move it on said 2-d plane, it would be confined to the rules of said dimensional plane. Since the Shere would be able to move in three different dimensions, X,Y,Z The object would appear to be 2-D to you.
As the object moves side to side on the x and y scales, it would look normal. Things get weird when you start moving on an axis that doesn't exist. The shpere, while moving on the Z axis passing through the 2-D plane would appear to shrink until it looks like nothing is there, before suddenly popping back up and growing in size.
This is a really compact version of things I've been thinking about and am not really sure if its correct.

Interesting but wouldn’t the 4d being have mass? You can’t clearly see them but you would know something is there because you hit them but wouldn’t be able to determine what it was. Similar to the ball and box in the 2d plane. You see a line but couldn’t see that it is a box with a ball inside but you know it is something because you hit the box. I got close once, I attempted to visualize wormholes connecting 2 points in 3D space
I started with the 2D projection of a gravity well and slowly expanded that out in to 3 dimensions (this is already hard enough, as an accurate 3D portrayal of gravity wells requires an inside out sphere) then I spent half an hour trying to move that into some form of 4D approximation
I reached a point where I swear I almost had it, only to suffer a sudden headache (which went away just as suddenly) and lose it

This was actually a really good visualisation of the 4D shape through shadows...the weird animations they throw at us for tesseracts without any real explanation never made sense until I watched this, so thanks! Another one I really liked was an interactive experience someone made of 4D objects slicing (the best way to describe it I think) 'into' 3D space, much like how a 3d object would look to a 2D space person if it went through their space.

You got it slightly wrong... A point in time is 0D just like it is in space you can't move. linear time is 1D since you can move forward. Probability is 2D so there are multiple simple timelines parallel stacked one over the other. The question is... what is the Third dimension in time?
Theory about the 2nd dimension of time : The laws of physics in the world remains same. It is the natural selection factors that differs. Let's say in a world you toss a coin. No matter how many timelines you see the outcome will be the same if the surrounding conditions are. Now let's say there is another Earth where dinosaurs aren't dead. Why? Because of the law of natural selection. There is always a tiny randomisation in every world. For example, you can have a new element in some other world. Now let's say the meteor that was supposed to hit Earth was made up of a certain element but it doesn't exist in another universe, how will there be a meteor then? Or what if the meteor was made up of some other element and it never came to Earth due to that. Therefore, we can conclude that probability can only be altered by factors such as chemical reactions and the randomness of consciousness....

I agree, it's hard to wrap my mind around too. We don't have the mental capacity to directly visualize 4D objects, because our capacity for visualization is learned from what we can see in the outside world. (hence why people born blind have non-visual dreams.) But the concept is similar to this: A figure-8 is the 2D facsimile of a Moebius strip, but a real 3D Moebius strip doesn't need to pass through itself to connect its two ends together like a figure-8 does, because a real 3D Moebius strip has that extra degree of freedom provided by the Z axis. Similarly a real 4D Klein bottle has an extra degree of freedom provided by the W axis, allowing the little connecting tube to wrap around its main body instead of having to pass through it.

After so many years of watching and understanding 4rth dimensional space, this is the one video thats i clearly understand and now i know how 4rth dimensional works cause many video are too hard to get
I imagine 4 or more dimensions as connecting two parts of the room that do not normally connect in 3 dimensions but can also connect in 3 dimensions. It is also like having an invisable space directly next to you that you can't see but you know is there. Almost like seeing something out of the corner of your eye but when you look at it it is gone. Also I imagine 4 or more dimensions almost like a room of mirrors where the reflected images actually connect even though an image reflected through two mirrors does not touch the image still appears in the second mirror. Now imagine that a 4th dimensional object can pass through what would seem like a solid object in 3 dimensions and be viewed as a 3 dimensional object. What would happen if you touched a 4 dimensional object passing through a 3d plane? Well I imagine it would feel like "pins and needles" since this object does not actually exist in 3 dimensions. However it would be very interesting to note how 4th dimensional objects can interact with 3 dimensional objects in unseen ways like from the invisible space that I mentioned earlier. For example if you knock an object off the table it falls to the floor. In this example if you were to knock an object through 4 dimensions it would disappear, bump your arm from an unseen direction and then land in the corner of the room. Hypothetically speaking of course 😅😅😅

That's the thing about visualizing higher dimensions, it's impossible. No matter what way you try to visualize moving in a fourth direction, it will always be a three dimensional movement because we live in a three dimensional space, luckily we can theorize a two or one dimensional space to help us better understand the space around us.

so 4D is being able to see the front and back of something, like a medical scan. that kinda makes sense cause you don't see them at the same time but time isn't a spacial dimension. when you see a shape you are always seeing a max of three sides (ex. top, left, right, in isometric), but a cube has 6 sides so you need to see the other three sides to see the full shape ( += bottom, back-left, back-right). So having a fly-through/walk-around image scan is another dimension than a regular "3d" jpeg image.

Time is not a dimension unless gravity is. Time is linear because it is a measurement of idea's of conscious thought, measures of matter or reality, sentient thought is a product of the dimensional matter it is composed of, the shell that restricts it our bodies. If it develops other senses to perceive various other dimensions it is capable of conceiving, and considering it, yet very limited in it's ability to express it. I imagine being able to sense higher dimensions and then trying to explain it to the normal person would make one seem insane lol. The example of us watching one such explanation on a 2D screen leaves something missing, something to be desired :).

The book _Flatland_ by Edwin A. Abbott is an excellent read explaining dimesions. I think I first read it in 1967 when in high school.

This is my theory:
I think the reason why we can't comprehend and imagine the 4th dimension is because we are trapped in the 3rd dimension. So we are facing the same problem as Flatlanders imagining the 3rd dimension. I firmly believe the universe is a 4th dimensional space (in which the Planets represent the 3 dimensional objects in it) If we could comprehend higher dimensions we could see the wholeness of the universe.

I think that's interesting but also I think there is even a simpler explanation. Someone who is color blind can't comprehend color, even someone who had never gotten wet before can't comprehend that feeling. What I'm saying is that the capabilities of our minds is only to compare new things to previous experiences. We simply are unable to compute the actual EXPERIENCE of something that we have no reference for.
3:25, 4th-dimensional beings cannot see every side of a 3d shape. In fact, they cannot see any sides of a 3d shape. This is because those in the 4th cannot see 2 dimensional surfaces as they don’t have any depth, only length & width. Much like we, as 3d creatures, cannot see 1 dimensional surfaces as they do not have any width, only length.
So essentially, if you, a 3-dimensional being, were to look at an unscrambled rubix cube, you would be able to count six different colours across six 2d surfaces. If a 4-dimensional being were to look at the same unscrambled rubix cube, it would appear as one, single-coloured surface (it could appear purple for all we know). Much like we don’t know what colour a square’s edge is to a 2-dimensional being, those in the 4th dimension won’t know what colour a cube’s face is to us 3-dimensional beings.

All those electrons and photons we used to think were separate entities that 'act weird' are actually strings going through 4-D space and they act exactly how you'd expect a string to act.

It does have observational evidence, but it's somewhat thin. It's based on the observations of quantum particles 'seeming' to be in multiple places at once (which violates all the conventional laws of physics).
Similar to how dark matter theory is based on the observation that 'something' is bending the light in those Hubble Telescope Deep Space pictures.
String theory would be a lot stronger if they could map out the strings and predict their changes based on algorithms.

I consider time to be dimension 3a, but if 3a is the answer to the problem, then that would definitely change the entirety of where quantum science will be going and the idea of 4, 5, 6+ dimensions would remain abstract mathematical concepts.
3a and 4 could both be the answer, which would make things considerably more complicated.
There's also the concept of multiple time dimensions, but that's way beyond what I'm ready to grind my brain against.
In a few hundred years, this stuff we're struggling to answer will probably be taught to kids in the 3rd grade.

An excellent way to bridge the gap between 3D and 4D is to use 3.5D (3 and a half dimensions) as a stepping stone. Just like a graphics/animation artist using 2.5D as a foundation to help explore the 3D realm of the arts, we can all use 3.5D as the central focus point between these two dimensions and use these grounds to compare and contrast the data that we already know so far. If m surprised that nobody has come to this realization as of yet.

Not even closely lol. We are absolutely unable to conceive of a 4th dimension. It is merely a concept to us as humans. We can describe it in many conceptual ways, but there is no way to *truly* conceive of it. Even the 3rd dimension is not *truly* experienced by us. Our eyes can only actually view objects as 2-dimensional projections. We can only perceive of the 3rd dimension because we learned how to on a 2-dimesional plane. We can understand things as 3-dimensional in the world because we able to move and change our perspective over time and view them from different angles. If there's a 3-dimensional cube on the ground, I can look at it as 2D from the front, then start walking around to the side, visually capturing many 2D "frames" over time and conclude that it has depth, along with 2 other spacial dimensions that I can truly perceive of, width and height, thus "perceiving" it as 3D. We can even "perceive" of objects as 3-dimensional in a 2-dimensional projection (eg. on a piece of paper) because we understand that objects further away are smaller. Other things like shadows aid our perception and experience of the 3rd dimension as well.
This all follows the n-1 rule:
0D - Coordinations
1D - Projection of a 1D line is a 0D coordination
2D - Projection of a 2D plane is a 1D line
3D - Projection of a 3D cube is a 2D square (plane) / 3D sphere is a 2D circle
4D - Projection of a 4D object is a 3D object, as conceptually described in the video. The 4th dimension can be described as the spacial orientation of overlapping 3-dimensional spaces, connected as vertices. A tesseract is connected on all 90-degree angles, but the animation to describe it doesn't seem so, due to our inability of true perception of such an object.

Actually our eyes will still be only able to see 2d objects. Even if we look down from extra height of the fourth dimension. So we would never really be able to see a 3d object in its entirety. However if we look down from the fourth dimension's extra height we would be able to see inside an object without opening the object up.
If we were 4-dimensional beings, we would have 3-dimensional retinas. Each of our eyes would be able to directly measure the positions of objects in the "height", "width", _and_ "distance" dimensions, and then our brains could use the parallax between our two eyes to calculate the positions of objects in the 4th dimension as well. So yes, it would be mathematically possible for 4-dimensional beings to see all surfaces of a 3D object simultaneously, just like 3-dimensional beings can see all edges of a 2D object simultaneously.
