With the announcement of HoloPromise, we got a new self-titled original song from Mumei! Listening to her vocals made me miss reacting to her because she has such a soft, clear, and beautiful voice! I really liked how the word Mumei changes throughout the song From "Without a name" to "Nameless" to "Mumei" meaning is literally the same but context is very different for each one.
The loneliness expressed in this hits really close to home. I mean that not just in being lonely but in the severity of it. When you have been lonely without purpose for decades it does more than just leave you sad; it makes life meaningless and you are left holding on by a thread as thin as spider silk.
The style reminds me hollow knight, anyhow the music is great and sad. Also lyrics very sad and also the name or word Mumei also means nameless so her being “Mumei Mumei” she’s nameless nameless.
Now that you’ve mentioned it, I can see the resemblance in terms of the art style! It’s such a sad song with meaning behind it, definitely felt like a personal song to her.
Looking for someone, but who? At first I thought this was a love song, but no sir... This is a song about a nameless being, this is the feeling of being nameless, but overall, this is acceptance of who you are. If you are nameless, then be Mumei. At least that's what I think it meant...
