my thoughts are that mumei did not find who she was looking for, but found someone who was looking for HER! and so she leaves the lamp for another to find their way in the darkness.
Huh. It's interesting how you can actually interpret the MV in different ways. On my first watch, I thought Mumei wakes up when the civilization dies out. She looks around, feels lonely, and remembers that she has the power to bring back civilization at the cost of her disappearing again. And she does it happily just to see that person even for a moment. It's a sad cycle of civilization dying and her waking up and starting it back up again and her disappearing again. With her being an unknown "nameless" entity because no one ever sees her do it. I didn't explicitly see her disappear but I saw hints with the rock she originally threw breaking apart, the lone fish-out-of-water dying, and the lantern fire dying out.
I love how you immediately commented on the Porter Robinson vibes. A lot of people have been commenting on the same feeling. Makes me wonder if TKN (the producer/writer of the song) is a Porter Robinson fan and made this a deliberate homage, or if it was just a coincidence due to similar music style and subject matter?
I love this song so much! I really like the really stripped down instrumental compared to A New Start where Mumei can really shine, and that paired with the more simplistic art style just makes the whole thing work so well. She's such an underrated singer in HoloEN, I would love to see so much more music from her. She really popped off during her 3D showcase singing some INCREDIBLE songs (plus a duet with Towa!). If you haven't yet watched that, I highly recommend it! Been a while since I've been able to catch you guys live. Hope you and Aasif are doing well, dude!

Hololive in general has many character original songs. Reflect, High Tide, Stellar Stellar to name a few.
None of them hits like this one does.
I feel this is one of the most beautiful pieces to come out of Hololive. Huge props to Mumei.
