His vocal is better over time. In his earlier career( in the 90s) his vocal is a little bit rough and lacked control but it still sounds good to me. But since the 2000s he has the control over his voice. He knows when to use his strong voice and the soft one. And of course, the range of his vocal is increased. It seems that he works on his voice so much.
As he gets older his voice ages like fine wine. Something I have noticed however is that he seems to take a lot more breaths as the years go on. His pronunciation because softer and his style of soft than loud becomes more apparent. 1989 - 1999 was young. 2000-2005 was Rock n Roll. 2006-2010 he seemed sad almost depressed attitude. 2011-2016 great energy as he's doing his own thing. 2017-2021 God-like but he's missing some soul
@@roboticoperatingbuddy5443 liam needs Noel too, look what happened with beady eye, it was a total failure in terms of popularity and songwriting , liam in 2010, said that beady eye's album would be better than morning glory and it ended up being a failure and a very bad album
@@roboticoperatingbuddy5443 He still clearly needs Noel. Liam is the rock'n'roll part of Oasis but Noel was the much needed balance. One thing I can see Liam has dropped down on since his solo career is his song writing. Since SOTSOG Liam began writing tracks. Every single one was written alone by him only except Love Like A Bomb which he cowrote with Gem. With Beady Eye everything was written by the band. Now Liam has a songwriting team, 3-4 people per song. Noel wouldn't allow that, he'd tell Liam that if he wanted to contribute to the Album, he has to do it himself. Liam's slacking off in this aspect.
I've been getting into Oasis more just recently, so I haven't listened to many their songs or watched more than a few live performances. That may also mean my opinion changes as I discover more of their work. I already couldn't deny that Noel had a good voice, but this video further confirmed that; the clips taken from the late '90s and early 2000s really impressed me. His voice could carry a lot of extra emotion (Slide Away) or a punch of rawness (Columbia) depending on what the song demanded. So, he is pretty versatile and you can tell when he is passionate about a song. Also notable that he often did great while filling in for Liam when things went wrong, which is no easy task considering how spontaneously it happened. However, the extra punch seems to have waned off noticeably in the last decade or so. His voice is still pleasant to the ear and he hits the notes (unlike Liam during his rock bottom), but it just doesn't hold the same weight as it did during its peak. That might be in part because he sets a slightly different style and mood for his performances with High Flying Birds and results in Noel approaching an easier-going tone, but the change is there. I still give him props for being way more coherent than his brother despite the years of cocaine, alcohol and smoking. Liam is much trickier because of all the factors that have led to the crazy rollercoaster that is his singing: on top of the cigarrettes, drugs and booze, you had the nasal voice, singing technique, Hashimoto's disease, and laryingitis. These caused Liam's voice to change rapidly and be incredibly inconsistent for the majority of his career. At first his voice bothered me. I now love Liam's vocals so, so much more, though. As I said, it's not consistent and sounds very different from one place to the other or from one month to the next in the middle of tours. However, he did an exceptional job. You can hate Liam's attitude, antics or sense of fashion all you want, but you must admit he almost single-handedly made Oasis stand out from any other groups. He adapted Noel's lyrics in a way that nobody else would have, figured out a technique to increase his vocal chords' power and used the raspiness he later developed to make it further sound RnR (even if it did backfire). His capabilities were also very different in the studio, in rehearsal rooms and on the stage, which makes it even harder to make a good judgement of his voice during specific periods of time. That unpredictability, on top of his natural talent, is why I think Liam is one of a kind and cannot be replicated. Not even the man himself could attempt some of his best performances. Please, listen attentively to his studio performances for What's The Story Morning Glory?, right before his voice started morphing dramatically. He pours his heart out for those songs. Something about it in Wonderwall and Champagne Supernova is so unique, powerful, genuine, and nostalgic, and he didn't even write them! It makes you wonder if he could connect to those lyrics as well or if he understood how much they meant to Noel. That being said, all these differences between the two brothers' vocals perfectly complemented each other and helped make Oasis as good as they were. While I love Liam's voice more than I do Noel's, there's no doubt that the combination of the two Gallaghers together was phenomenal. If the band never reunites, I will still be very grateful that the band even happened. What are the odds all the right people in Manchester came together to create these beautiful works of art that hundreds of millions recognise today? Extraordinarily slim.
