@@KermitLg I tried to not cherry pick gigs and look at the whole picture. Yes the Poole gig is good but there was a clear decline of his voice which started around 2004. It isn’t the most accurate timeline I agree. I could switch 2004 to 2005 but even in 2005 there were good gigs. Edit: And even in between 97 and 98 there were problems with Liam voice but I didn’t want to do a more detailed explanation of his vocal problems.
@@PeterPauls His real decline you could argue actually started by 2001 or 2002, his voice already started developing by the Stockholm gig the T in the Park shouty behavior, I could also just talk about the fact he wasn’t able to hit notes as well as he used to in 2000, which was the last year he could hit notes pretty well in my opinion. But 03 is literally Kermit voice, so I definitely wouldn’t say his voice was still good by 01-03 (Early 01 was an exception and I quite enjoy the first gigs of the year from 02 and some from June) but like..I feel like due to the fact his Early 00s voice was very unsustainable he just started going downhill.
@@PeterPauls I agree with the 97 and 98 part, the 98 and 97 gigs are still very good despite a few exceptions, again I feel like after May 2000, his voice just wasn’t really able to put out the same consistency it used to.
@@KermitLg GMEX 97 he strained his voice like hell. One of the best gigs but I felt those vocal chords just strained when he sang “I met my maker I made him cry” line from D’you Know What I Mean.
Guy was unbelievable early to mid 90s but post 96/97 he was on a decline he’s never recovered from. Let’s hope we get a good few performances for this oasis reunion
Yeah, let's hope. The fact that they've made millions ripping off their fans doesn't bode well. I can't see Liam caring about his voice if he doesn't give a fuck about those paying hundreds for a ticket.
He clearly needs time to rest his voice between shows. Seems like they accounted for this when planning shows as a few nights are back to back but the majority of them are 4-6 days apart.
Liam is a fucking legend, from 1991 to 2024 the only years that he didn't perform anything was in 2010 because he really needed a break and 2020 becauce of Covid.
My man has been screaming the whole time. I think he only actually sings when he goes like in 4:57 Don't get me wrong, I love his voice and style during 90s, but it's a fact that no one could keep that singing style during a long time, specially having a wild life as he had. Anyways, I'm glad he has improved himself and his singing in recent years. Hope he make it mega nex year 🔥
Some sort of resonance went, never to come back around 98, could even argue by 96 he'd lost the choir boy overtone and things went much more nasal from there.
he sang like a demented person screaming in 94, 95, 96..., and even did a lot of drugs, no wonder he would eventually start singing like he does from 2002 onwards. his best vocal phase is undoubtedly from 1991 to 1995, even with the exaggerated screams.
Yup, good comment. I think overall ‘95 is his best year. Part of the Oasis rock n roll allure was knowing he couldn’t sing that way long. Major crash out.
He sounds good throughout except for the 2005-6 period. There, it sounds like his throat is inflamed and his vocal chords aren't doing what he tells them.
When it got to about 95 he def changed his technique from singing with his normal voice to a constant rasp, and that will only sound good for a little bit before your voice gets absolutely destroyed, his singing is definitely maybe sounded really good and he only went raspy when he had to, but during morning glory he changed it to a much more risky approach, and I mean by 06 his vocal chords where just completely destroyed, the smoking also obviously didn’t help him 💀
My favourite is 1997. He still had ability to reach the high notes but at the same time, he had raspy voice which it sounds really great. He started to giving up and totally different at 2002. Anyone can explain why ?
A number of factors. Age, booze, coke, cigarettes, constant tours without much rest, autoimmune disease (hashimotos) that attacks his thyroid glands' recovery, and I suspect he leant into the rasp sound which didn't help.
What you call a great raspy voice in 97 is actually what led to a major part of the decline. It was an unnatural shift from his naturally high&clear voice, the attempt at sounding more raspy/rock&roll put extreme strain on his vocal chords and deteriorated them gradually.
I think 96/97 were his best vocals for Oasis. After that you could hear the deterioration. Especially towards the end of the Oasis days. He sounded on top form last night mind you
@@jaggass kind of. 2008 was similar to now but it’s changed a lot between now and then. Yeah 2003 to 2009 was his absolute worst probably cause of the absolute strain put in his voice
The “now that your mine” at knebworth is what I consider is vocal peak
Agreed, that's him at the top of the mountain
The change from his voice in 2009 to 2011 is probably the biggest comeback oat😂

Those cracks really start forming around summer 96. Knebworth is a clear downgrade from Maine Road in the spring.
